Brothers Grill Louisiana Fishery

by Amy
(Findlay, Ohio, USA)

I recently went to Sarasota with my significant other and his parents. We stayed on the Key as we normally do. One of our favorite things to do when we are in Sarasota is to try out the many different restaurants. We are always looking for a new, exciting and delicious eatery.

One night when we were looking for something different to eat we found a flyer for Brothers Grill Louisiana Fishery. The flyer had the menu for the restaurant which looked very interesting to us with a variety of New Orleans style dishes to choose from. We decided to give it a whirl.

The restaurant was easy to find in Gulf Gate on Superior Avenue. There was ample parking.

We were seated promptly by our friendly hostess, Desiree. The server, Carinne, came to our table quickly to take our drink order. The menu was very easy to read and understand. Everything was described in a way to make the dishes very appealing. So much so that it was hard to make a decision on what to order because it all sounded so good.

The four of us decided that we would each order a different dish and share so we could try them all. When you go there to eat you might think the prices are a little high but the cost is well worth it. The portions are very generous. Two people could eat a full meal with dessert for around $50.00. There will probably even be some left over to take home.

I had the Creole Shrimp. It was just spicy enough. My honey had a New York strip. It was cooked perfectly by the line cook, Rob. It had just the right amount of seasoning. His mom had the pecan-crusted grouper. It was delicious. The piece of grouper was large enough for all of us to have a few bites. The coating was very flavorful and suited the grouper perfectly. His father had the Creole crab cakes. They were large and flaky. The Creole seasoning flavor creeps up on you and is incredible.

Even with all the food we got with our entrees we decided to order dessert. There were three choices for dessert and it was a hard decision. We finally decided to split a piece of pecan pie which was heavenly.

One of my favorite parts of the meal was when the owner/Head Chef, Justin came out to our table. He has a great personality and sense of humor. He was very genuine about wanting our opinions on the food. I asked him why the restaurant was not very busy when the food was so good. He told me that no one is willing to give unknown talent a chance. This is sad because the food is so incredible. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is welcoming and romantic.

The server, Carinne, is even a jazz and blues singer. You might hear her belt out a few notes while she is bringing your food out or refilling your drinks.

Overall the experience was exceptional.

If I lived in Sarasota this would be our Friday night dinner date spot. As it is whenever we travel to the Sarasota area we will eat here at least once during our visit.
