Coasters Restaurant on the Water - Fun and friendly with a picturesque waterfront view!

(UPDATE: Coasters changed ownership in 2010 and is now the Boatyard Waterfront Bar & Grill)

Coasters Restaurant on the Water is located in Sarasota at the Boatyard Boardwalk Shops, which you’ll find on the Mainland side of the Siesta Key Bridge on Stickney Point Road that leads over to Siesta Key.
Coasters on Sarasota Bay
Another of a handful of Sarasota restaurants with a water view, Coasters is unique on our Sarasota Dining Guide because the outside patio/deck and inside dining rooms sit higher above the water, providing a little different vantage point than other waterfront restaurants in Sarasota.

From this perch you can enjoy watching the boats and yachts make their way up and down the Intercoastal Waterway. Plus, you’ll be able to watch the Stickney Point drawbridge raise and lower over your lunch or dinner.

Indoor there’s a small Tiki Hut Bar tucked into a corner of the upper floor dining room at Coasters (Happy Hour at Coasters Restaurant on the Water is daily from 3 - 7 p.m.). The inside dining rooms, on two levels, are bright, open, airy and large enough to accommodate big crowds, during “season,” fairly comfortably. The outside patio/deck, which features umbrella covered tables, fills up fast during “season

With a wide selection of menu favorites including everything from fresh seafood, to sandwiches, steaks, chicken and pasta, you’re sure to find something to please you.

One meal I’ve enjoyed at Coasters Restaurant on the Water is their Pork Chop Marsala, which is an 8 oz center cut boneless chop, topped with a Marsala mushroom sauce, along with veggies and your choice of potato. If you like pork chops, Marsala wine sauce and mushrooms, this lunch or dinner entrée is a triple winner. Of course, I like pork chops and I’m fairly easy to please. This meal hits the spot!

Another delicious entrée to enjoy is their Grilled NY Strip Steak ($18.99). This is a mighty good piece of steak; a 12oz center cut choice hunk of beef, grilled to your taste and perfection and served with fresh vegetables and your choice of potato. The last time I had this steak entrée was for lunch when I took a friend to Coasters Restaurant on the Water for his birthday during “low season.” In fact I think we both had the Grilled NY Strip Steak for lunch.

And we actually had our choice of outdoor tables on the patio/deck, with a fantastic south-looking view of the Intercoastal Waterway. It was a delicious steak, a scenic water view and a great afternoon on which to relax at one of the best restaurants in Sarasota for views of the Intercoastal Waterway and the drawbridge at Stickney Point Road. A really great scenic spot and vantage point!

I hope you have the good luck and timing to get a table on the outside patio/deck overlooking the waterway and Stickney Point Bridge. It is a great view for a dining spot!

I’ve also had menu items such as chicken wraps and have found the food delicious and the service good and fast no matter what the price of the entrée or sandwich.

Other menu items you’ll find include: Fish and Chips, another favorite of mine; Monterey Chicken, plus there’s Barbecue Baby Back Ribs, Stuffed Filet of Sole, Grilled Grouper, Salmon and much more.

With fantastic waterfront views of the Intercoastal Waterway, dividing the mainland from Siesta Key, Coasters Restaurant is another of the Sarasota area’s scenic spots in which to enjoy lunch or dinner. It’s a light, casual, friendly atmosphere at Coasters. One you can surely enjoy during your time in Sarasota.

All in all, you can have a fine and delicious meal from a wide ranging menu and a memorable and relaxing experience at Coasters Restaurant on the Water.
