March 1, 2024: Circus Night is the theme to the Sarasota Downtown First Friday Sip and Shop. Circus has been a part of Sarasota's history since the late 1920's and the tradition continues with a spectacular circus-themed evening in downtown Sarasota! March 1, 2024: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. with Eireann’s Call will fill the air with Celtic rock, rockin’ bagpipes, blistering fiddle, and tight vocal harmonies and the event will benefit Manatee Children’s Services. Beer, wine and food sales. Check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting, and fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75. March 1 - 3, 2024: Check out the Englewood Food Truck Rally & Music Festival. The festivities begin on Friday, with the park coming alive with food trucks and music from 4pm to 10pm. As the weekend rolls in, the rally continues on Saturday, offering a smorgasbord of delights from 11am to 10pm. We’ll wrap up the festival on Sunday, with more food and music from 11am to 6pm. As you explore the culinary offerings, you’ll also get to enjoy the Music Festival, in addition to a marketplace of arts, crafts, and specialty products. March 1 - April 14, 2024: Sarasota's Bayfront Park has been the backdrop for Embracing Our Differences' colorful, larger-than-life canvases integrating powerful imagery and thought-provoking messages celebrating diversity. The scale and impact of this outdoor exhibition has continued to grow. In 2023, 320,616 people visited the exhibition—bringing the total amount of visitors to more than 4.3 million since 2004. The 2023 Exhibit has had an impressive response to the call for artwork and inspirational quotes, with 13,733 entries pouring in from 119 countries and 45 states. Students from 424 schools around the world submitted artwork or quotes.. (Park entrance is located at the corner of Ringling Boulevard and Bayfront Drive/US Route 41). March 2 - 3, 2024: It's the 2024 Megalodon Challenge with the Shark's Tooth 10K & the Shark Fin 5K! The iconic Shark's Tooth 10K will be professionally chip-timed with custom finisher medals and locally printed custom race shirts. One of the favorite races for locals and visitors alike. You can also do the Shark Fin 5K or a virtual Sharks Tooth 10k. The Shark's Tooth 10K Starts at 7:15 a.m. Registration fee is $50 for the 10K and $40 for the 5K. March 2 - 3, 2024: The Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild of Sarasota will hold their Quilting by the Gulf XX 2024 Show. Every two years, the VAQG members come together to promote the love of quilts, to encourage and preserve the art of quilts and quilting, and to share friendship as well as knowledge with others. It is one of the most exciting events they hold and showcases a wide variety of quilts made by their members. This is their 20th quilt show. March 3, 2024: It's the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park 62nd Annual UDC Spring Open House. During the Mansion's 'free tours' see the many lifestyle demonstrations of the era of the 1840’s - 1870’s. The ladies of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will be wearing costumes reminiscent of the era of the 1840’s through 1870’s to add that special touch of authenticity to the day. The Gamble Mansion will be open to the public with free tours of the building. There will be music, crafts and fun for everyone. March 3, 2024: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.
March 4, 2024: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with Paisley Craze on the Bolger Campiello. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets will be available approx. one month prior to each event, and will include a 24 hour pre-sale period for members. Members please note: $10 tickets are limited to one for Individual Memberships and two for all other Membership levels. March 6, 2024: It's a free concert with live music with the Gentlemen of Jazz, which recreates the New Orleans Preservation Hall style of jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This free concert take place every Wednesday through April 6, 2022 in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.
March 7, 2024: Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources' Beach University series returns to the Siesta Beach main pavilion. In partnership with the Siesta Beach Ambassador volunteer program, this free educational series invites community members and visitors to learn about coastal environments in one-hour sessions. Beach University sessions are from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., every Thursday in March at the main pavilion on Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key. Free for ages 10 and up. March 9, 2024: Experiencing Myakka's Magic - Myakka's Leafy Legends! With over 800 species in Myakka River State Park, learning and identifying plants can seem like an overwhelming task. In Experiencing Myakka's Magic: Myakka's Leafy Legends, Master Naturalist (and FOMR Member) Steve White will focus on seven park plants that are both common AND have fascinating stories. These are plants that every self-respecting park visitor should know! Join in on this leisurely, informative and fun journey up Ranch House Road and into the world of Myakka's flora. March 9, 2024: It's the Palmetto’s Heritage Festival at Palmetto Historical Park & Manatee County Agricultural Museum. This FREE event will have a park open house and activities for the whole family. The 1880 Heritage Station Post Office will be operational with a one-day-only cancellation designed by Kaylee Schauer, a local middle school student. Bring your stamped mail! Word of Mouth BBQ and Frosted Pink Artisan Cookies will be on site with delicious food available for purchase. A special feature of this year’s Heritage Festival is The Original Florida Highwaymen Art Show & Sale. The Florida Highwaymen are a small group of African American landscape artists who began painting in the late 1950s. The paintings were then sold out of the trunk of their cars, as the artists went from door to door at homes and business offices or set up shop on a busy corner at the side of the road. Their bright and sultry images of Florida’s tropical beauty were sold for as little as twenty or thirty dollars. March 10, 2024: The region’s best Bus Operators will be putting their skills on display at the annual Tampa Bay Area Regional Bus Roadeo and Technology Expo. The bus rodeo tests service delivery operating skills in a series of competitions around a test road course set up with cones, barrels and bus stops. Transit bus maintenance skills are also part of the event, as each agency’s maintenance technician team is evaluated on their overall knowledge and diagnostic skills. The competition will determine the most skilled bus operators and maintenance technicians in the state. One transit agency will be declared the overall winner for the “Best of the Bay” competition. In addition, the first-place transit and paratransit winners from each respective transit agency will advance to the Florida State Five-Star Bus Roadeo in Jacksonville on April 19 to 20, 2024. The competition is free and open to the public. The event begins at 8 a.m., with rodeo driving activities underway by 9 a.m. Manatee County Transit Fleet Facility, located at 2411 Tallevast Road.

March 14, 2024: Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources' Beach University series returns to the Siesta Beach main pavilion. In partnership with the Siesta Beach Ambassador volunteer program, this free educational series invites community members and visitors to learn about coastal environments in one-hour sessions. March 29, 2024: A Stations Of The Cross observance will be held. This Good Friday is the 23rd year Sarasota will observe the worldwide STATIONS of the Cross tradition. What began in mid-15 th century Jerusalem is now observed in over 200 nations, especially on Good Friday of Holy Week. In past years, the procession was confined to the north sidewalk of Main Street. Since 2011, the Sarasota Police Department escort has facilitated the procession so that pilgrims can now walk down the center of Main Street. In 2023, nearly 1,000 pilgrims participated. Everyone is invited to Walk Your Faith this Holy Week by experiencing “The Way” or “STATIONS of the Cross” on March 29. Twenty-six Ministers of fourteen Denominations will take part in this Sarasota happening. With six denominational Deans/Principals participating, over 100 congregations are represented. The procession will stop for worship and prayer at each of the 14 STATIONS. The STATIONS of the Cross journey offers an opportunity to reflect on the different moments of Christ’s passion journey. A service booklet sharing the acts of worship for each STATION will be distributed to all pilgrims. Pilgrims begin to gather at 7 a.m. and the pilgrimage starts at 7:20 a.m. on Main Street at the Regal Hollywood movie theater, 1993 Main St., Sarasota, FL. For those who would like to park at the final station (Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave.), complimentary Siesta Trolley service will transport pilgrims from Redeemer to Regal Hollywood starting at 6 a.m. The pilgrimage will conclude at about 8:30 a.m. A Sarasota Police Department escort will be controlling traffic and providing security. March 30, 2024: The whole family will enjoy a free and open-to-the-public 2024 Easter Poke-Hunt that includes coffee, egg hunting, music, bouncing, and free admission to the Manatees’ 1 p.m. baseball game on Saturday, Mar. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton. No RSVP is required. The event entrance is between SCF’s Library and Learning Center, Building 3, and Neel Performing Arts Center, Building 11.
March 30, 2024: It's the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Children's Garden. Each child can collect 12 eggs filled with treats and treasures to bring home. If you're lucky, you might find the rare GOLDEN EGG, or one of three other eggs with a prize ticket inside. You'll be joined for a visit by "some-bunny" very special - the Easter Bunny! The doors will open at 9:45am - The Hunt begins at 10 am sharp and lasts until the eggs have been collected. Tickets are available at entrance, no pre-registration needed. Admission is included with the cost of the Egg Hunt. All kids participating in the egg hunt are required to pay for admission. The Children’s Garden is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charitable organization. Adults and Teens 13 years & up: $10 +tax. Children 3 years & up: $6 +tax. March 30 2024: Hoppity, the Easter Bunny is on his way to the Easter Eggstravaganza! Join in the Easter fun this year with an egg hunt in Centennial Park! Bring your basket and meet the Easter Bunny! March 30, 2024: The Newtown Easter Parade and Spring Fling is back with it’s annual parade starting at 1 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Osprey, then heading west to Cocoanut Avenue. (Parade participants still welcome.) March 31, 2024: Join Siesta Key Chapel for Easter Sunday Chapel on the Beach with communion. Chapel on the Beach is a beautiful way to worship God and hear the Gospel message preached in the glories of nature. March 31, 2024: Kiwanis of Anna Maria Island will celebrate the 59th anniversary of the Easter Sunrise Service held at the Manatee County Public Beach with Island churches participating The crowd normally numbers 1,200- 2,000 people. Donations may be made on line. There is ample parking. Trolley will be up and running at 6:00 a.m. The Anna Maria Beach Café will also open at 6:30 a.m. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on and dress for the weather. March 31, 2024: Easter Sunrise Service The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service near the Lido Beach Pavilion on Lido Key and Live Streaming. It is recommended that you bring your own chair or a blanket as seating is very limited. All are welcome and dress is casual. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St, Sarasota, FL., from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. There will be plenty of colorful eggs for the little ones to collect, plus music, face painting and more. Egg Hunt will be in two groups: Under 7 years old at 3 p.m. and 8 - 12 year old at 4 p.m.
