Here's my annual list of Sarasota Halloween Events, Haunted Houses and Festivals around the sun coast area. Have Fun!

All dates, times and events are subject to change, cancellation or postponement by organizers. Before making any major plans check with event organizers to confirm date of event. The Calendar is updated as information is made available.



October 1, 2023:  The 35th Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest features hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, mini train rides, a petting zoo and more. Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. Admission, Parking, Petting zoo, playground, live music, and decorated photo spots are FREE! Individual rides and game activity booth, including pony rides, unicorn encounter, hug a goat and pumpkin painting, has their own set price ranging from $1 – $10. Children’s Costume Contest every Saturday at 2 p.m. in front of the animal barn and free to participate in. Torres Family Circus and Extreme Riders Free daily showtimes each weekend 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. While some vendor booths may accept cards, many are cash only so please be prepared. For your convenience they will have ATMs set up. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Additional dates: Oct 7 - 8, Oct 14 - 15, Oct  21 - 22 and Oct. 28 - 29. Free admission and parking. October 1- 31, 2023: Are there ghosts in Sarasota? Find out for yourself on a guided, dark and creepy, 75-minute Sarasota ghost walk. Experience the spirited and sinister side of Sarasota on this one-of-a-kind walking tour to learn more about the area and some of the residents who still call it home – many, many, many years later. October 1 - 31, 2023. Check out the Spooktacular Ghost Tour. If you’re looking for something truly unique, take the Haunted History Tour. This 75 minute tour is packed with history and ghost stories. Sarasota Halloween Events and Haunted Houses

October 13, 2023: The 21st annual Goblin Gathering is an event hosted by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources and held at GT Bray Park. Little and big goblins are invited to gather at GT Bray Park on Friday, October 13, for a better-than-ever free trick-or-treat and more event! This year they're adding more Halloween decorations, an animal experience and a haunted treat trail to the bounce houses and costume contes with 5 costume categories. Event entry and trick-or-treating is free. This always-popular event will feature a costume contest, food trucks and a spooky trail to explore. A $5 wristband will be sold for children to participate in the face painting, petting zoo, pony ride and bounce houses. Parental participation and trick-or-treating is free. Wristbands will be on sale beginning Friday, October 6, at the front desk inside the G.T. Bray Recreation Center (no refunds or replacements will be issued). October 13, 2023: It's Witches Night Out! Join SRQ County Parks for a positively enchanting evening! Guests (witches and wizards) will enjoy music, dancing, shopping, food and drinks. Dress in your favorite witch or wizard attire, or you can dress as a muggle. Don't miss the thrilling costume contest with fantastic prizes up for grabs. Their “Witches Mart” features amazing local vendors, and you can even have fun with tarot card and intuitive readers, for entertainment purposes only of course! Gather your favorite witches and wizards for free photos at thespooktacular photo booth and capture some great memories! Hang out for an enchanting “Witches Dance” by talented local artists. To quench your thirst, delightfully wicked potions, including non-alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. October 13 - 15, 2023: Three Haunted houses in Port Charlotte: The Haunting of Grin Hollow, Zombie Barn and Scarecrow's Scream. Plus they'll have a boucne house, rides and food. Nightly Haunted Dance Party. Free admisson. $5 parking. Haunted house tickets $15 - $40. Haunted House Package - all three haunted houses ($50 value) save $10 and get unlimited access to the haunted houses for a single day! Bounce house and Maze tickets $20-$25. Maze and moon bounces are open from 5pm-10pm. Also Pony rides, Mechanical Bull, Rope ladder, Petting Zoo and more. Haunted houses are open from 6pm-10pm. October 13 - 31, 2023:  You're invited “Lights at Spooky Point,” which features an array of fantastic creatures and cute creations designed with lights along an eerily lit path through the woods at the preserve and outdoor museum of Historic Spanish Point. Visitors also will see familiar historic sites like Mary’s Chapel and the Pioneer Graveyard in a mysterious (but not too scary) new light during this event for all ages. There will be a one-way path from the Welcome Center Gazebo through several popular areas on the Historic Spanish Point bathed in the glow of orange, purple, and red lights. Along the way, guests will encounter flying “ghost orchids,” webs with “spider orchids,” giant “bat orchids,” vine-twisted skeletons, plenty of pumpkins, and other surprises. This nighttime walk through the woods will finish at a hay maze before guests return to the gazebo to exit. Selby Gardens will offer two entry times each evening for Lights at Spooky Point: 6:30  p.m. and 7:45 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be available for each entry time and must be purchased in advance, either through the Selby Gardens website or at the Welcome Center on either campus. Ticket prices are $20 for Selby Gardens members, $30 for non-members, $15 for ages 5 to 17, and free for children 4 and under. October 14, 2023:  Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting Cemetery Tours,” a free hour-long tour of the 1850 Manatee Burying Grounds led by a member of Manatee Village's staff. Tours cover different facets of life during Manatee's Founding Period (1840-1918) as well as stories of those buried in the burying grounds. Topics vary depending on the staff member leading the tour. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. All members of your party must be present to receive a wristband. Check in at the Wiggins General Store at Manatee Village Historical Park on the morning of the tour to receive your free wrist band. Please note that this is an outdoor event. Participants will traverse over curbs and uneven terrain. There will be no seating during the tour. October 14, 2023: Check out the 5K SUP Rec Paddle & Costume Contest at NBP! Come dressed in your best for our 5K paddle and SUP costume contest! Costumes are optional. Prizes will be awarded for best individual costume or best group theme. Note: All costumes must be tasteful and appropriate to be permitted to participate in the event. Open to all ages and skill levels! Hop on a paddleboard, test your balance, get a great workout and have a blast! With Halloween just around the corner, we encourage you to add an extra level of fun by participating in our costume contest! Wear a costume that best shows off your SUPerpower! Participation is optional but there will be a prize for the best costume or for the group with the best costume theme. As this is an event open to all ages, all costumes must be tasteful and appropriate. Following the Rec race, checkout the food and drink vendors throughout the park. Receive complimentary access all weekend long to watch the SUP World Cup races. This event is BYOB (Bring your own Board) or, if you don’t own a board, you may rent one through the park or the local rental company they are working with. 10 a.m. There's also a beer tent and vendor market. October 14 - 15, 2023: Get into the 32nd Annual Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival featuring fun for all including craft show, live music, live shows, pioneer trades village, scarecrow displays, charity pumpkin games, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, frog jumping championships, kids train ride, fresh roasted sweet corn, rock climbing wall, face painting and more. Additional dates: Oct  21 - 22 and Oct 28 - 29. Admission $15, kids 10 & under free, parking $5. October 19, 2023: It's the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Sheriff's Spooktactical Night! It's a Spooktactical evening of family fun at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Operations Center! MCSO Units and community partners will have vehicles on display, demonstrations, activities for kids, free food, and trick or treating at each unit's station. Food truck options available with a cost. 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Manatee County Sheriff's Office, 600 Highway 301 Boulevard West, Bradenton FL. October 20 2023:  It's the Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex Haunted Trail Carnival complete with frightfully fun games, tricks and treats and a haunted trail carnival. Enjoy carnival style games along the half mile walking trail, a costume contest, face painting and more. Perfect for ages 2 - 13. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Free. October 20, 2023: Sarasota's Bay Park hosts a not so scary evening with trick-or-treating, pumpkins on a first come first served basis to the first 1,500 kids, yard games, a not really haunteddecorated trail, live music, a double feature movie of Mosters Inc and Ghostbusters and more. October 20 - 21, 2023: It's the 10th Annual Halloween Haunted Trails at Oscar Scherer State Park. SCARY TRAI: If you dare, join us on this night time adventure along the darkened wooded roadway on your way to the Haunted House. You never know what frightening figures you might encounter and if you're lucky, you might just make it out alive. Warning: Scary Trail is not suitable for young children or the faint at heart. KID'S TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL: For younger Halloween enthusiasts, there's a fun trick or treat trail around Lake Osprey. The trick or treat trail features booths, activities and interactive games, and of course, candy! Don't miss the glow in the dark "Little Monster Manor" Fun House and more! HAUNTED HOUSE: Want to take your scare to the next level? Check out the infamous Haunted House sponsored by the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department. Frightfully good fun, if you dare! October 21, 2023:  It's a Pumpkin Splash! Come take a swim and pick out your favorite pumpkin from a Floating Pumpkin Patch and then decorate or carve your pumpkin! October 24, 2023: Check out Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics. Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in Sarasota. Get your tickets now to discover Halloween-inspired music at Sarasota Municipal Auditorium under the gentle glow of candlelight. Tentative Program includes Thriller - Michael Jackson, Funeral March of a Marionette - Charles Gounod, String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor (Dresden Quartet), Op. 110: II. Allegro Molto - Dmitri Shostakovich, Tubular Bells (Theme from The Exorcist) - Mike Oldfield and many more. October 25, 2023:  Bring the whole family for a howlin' good time at our annual Trunk or Treat at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex. Kids of all ages will enjoy a safe and spooky evening filled with fun, games, and candy! Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and trunk decorations. Free. October 26, 2023: Celebrate Halloween with State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) at “Trunk or Treat.” This kid-friendly activity will feature free candy, decorated vehicles and music.The free event is open to the public and will take place  6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. between Buildings 17 and 18, Bradneton, FL.  

October 26, 2023: It's the return of Nathan Benderson Park’s annual NBP Trick Or Treat On The Lake. More than 6,000 children and families will come to NBP in their spookiest, silliest, star-studded costumes for an evening of not-too-spooky trick-or-treating along the candy trail, themed children’s activities, live music, and a Halloween movie  on a large video screen! October 26, 2023: It's the Bark-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest held in the Arlington Park Paw Park. from 5:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. Sure to be a howling good time! Dress up your dog and walk in the judged costume parade for a chance to win dog-friendly prizes. Free; pre-registration is encouraged for the costume contest. Treats and prizes. Free. October 26 - 28, 2023: The Players Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present the 7th annual Legend of Sleepy Hollow at The Sarasota Polo Club. This family-friendly, spooky, festive play about Ichabod Crane, the object of his affection Katrina, his rival Brom Bones, and of course, one of the most famous ghosts in America, the Headless Horseman has become a Halloween Favorite in Sarasota. Sleepy Hollow is known for its many ghost stories and the towns people that love to tell them, but the most prominent specter haunting the region is The Headless Horseman. Each night there will be a costume contest! *Please bring your own chairs and/or blankets, this is an outdoor event. 6 p.m. Adult tickets $25, Kids $10, October 28 there's also a Fall Festival. The fall festival includes food trucks, face painting, games, candy, a bounce house and more! Only those with bracelets are allowed in. These can be purchased ahead of time or at the door. October 27, 2023: Lost Creek is hosting their Annual Halloween Block Party. A huge hit last year, again this year there will be food trucks along with music and Trick or Treating, Costume parade is at 5 p.m. So be sure to dress up in your Halloween Costume! This event is open to the public! Additional Parking for non residents across the street at Lakewood Ranch Park. 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Free admission. Lost Creek, 11140 Lost Creek Terr, Bradenton, FL. October 27, 2023:  It's the annual BooFest at Lakewood Ranch Main Street! It's family-friendly fun including entertainment, food and drink vendors, and more. Have your children bring their trick-or-treat bags to collect the many treats that will be given out from their generous sponsors and merchants. Don’t forget to dress up for the children’s costume parade! Get ready to get spooky, you’re bound to have a HOWLING good time! This event is free and open to the public. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Main Street, Lakewood Ranch, FL.

October 27, 2023:  It's the 22nd Annual Clancy's Halloween Party and Costume Contest. They'll be giving away cash prizes for costume contest The entertainment will be Black Thorn Rose from 6 p.m.- 10 p.m. Costume contest after band. October 28, 2023:  Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting Cemetery Tours,” a free hour-long tour of the 1850 Manatee Burying Grounds led by a member of Manatee Village's staff. Tours cover different facets of life during Manatee's Founding Period (1840-1918) as well as stories of those buried in the burying grounds. Topics vary depending on the staff member leading the tour. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. All members of your party must be present to receive a wristband. Check in at the Wiggins General Store at Manatee Village Historical Park on the morning of the tour to receive your free wrist band. Please note that this is an outdoor event. A costume contest for ages up to 11 will be judged promptly at 4:00 p.m. and participants should plan to check in at the Chamber at 3:30 p.m. They will have four age groups for the contest, with trophies awarded!
