Sarasota Easter Sunrise Services

April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - The DeSoto Society’s annual Service starts at 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Sunday on the Manatee River at the Mosaic Amphitheater in Rossi Waterfront Park, 452 3rd Ave W, Bradenton and it's open to the public.

April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service -  The Tabernacle Church hosts a service in Sarasota's Bayfront Park, Bay Island Park, off of downtown Sarasota area, next to Marina Jack. Bring a folding chair if you like. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - Pine Shores Presbyterian Church hosts sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. at Siesta Key Beach near the pavilion. Bring a beach chair or blanket.

April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service near the Lido Beach Pavilion on Lido Key. It is recommended that you bring your own chair or a blanket as seating is very limited. All are welcome and dress is casual. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

April 1, 2018: Enjoy Easter Sunday Brunch at Marie Selby Gardens with brunch provided by Michael's on the Bay with a carving station, omelets made to order and a dessert bar. The kids will enjoy an Easter egg hunt around the gardens, there will be live music and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Seatings from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. $30 - $80. Your brunch purchase is accompanied by admission to the Gardens for the day. Free on-site parking at Selby Gardens is limited. April 1, 2018: Delight in an extravagant Easter Brunch on Sarasota Bay at the beautiful Powel Crosley Estate. Breakfast includes a Belgium waffles station, traditional breakfast favorites: bacon, sausage, eggs, croissants, jams and breakfast breads. Brunch selections include salmon and shrimp options. There's also a carving station of ham with a tropical pineapple salsa and bourbon glazed skirt steak. Brunch includes vegetarian options and a wide assortment of freshly made salads and delicious desserts. Your private table is available indoors in the main ballroom and dining room, outside on the patio, at the Pavilion next to the bay; or under the oaks on the bay front lawn.  For an additional fee, the upstairs Ship Room is available for parties of 8. Live Steel Band music, too! April 1, 2018: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.

April 1, 2017: Lights, camera, action! Sarasota Film Festival’s Moonlight Movies 2017 season continues with “Finding Dory” at Siesta Beach. SFF offers the free screenings as a way of giving back to the community before and during the festival season. The final screening will be at Lido Beach April 22, 2017. Film begins at sunset, unless specific time is indicated. All Moonlight Movies screenings are free and open to the public. Don't forget your blankets and lawn chairs! April 6, 2018: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch is from 6 p.m. -  9 p.m! Beer, wine and food sales. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

April 6, 2018: Experience the 6th annual Wine Walk to Ca' d'Zan! Taste fine wine and delight in delicious food pairings as you stroll along the drive to the mansion. Wrap up the evening beside Ca' d'Zan with live music and surprises. Plus, VIP ticket holders will enjoy early entry, valet service, and a champagne toast. April 6, 2018: It's the Moon Over Myakka Concert Series 2018 at the South Pavilion with Outlaw singer/guitarist Raiford Starke. Raiford Starke has earned a rep for high powered roots rocking live performances. 7 p.m. Bring a chair and a picnic! Cost: $20 per person ($15 for Friends members). April 6 - 7, 2018: The top college rowing teams in the southeast will take to the waters of Nathan Benderson Park for the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) FIRA Rowing Regatta. This is the 9th year the event will be held in Sarasota County. The park is located off University Parkway and I-75 across from the Target/Best Buy Plaza at 2500 N Honore Ave, Sarasota. It's the Annual Desoto Heritage Seafood Festival taking place Friday 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sunday Noon - 6 p.m. There's seafood, multi-stage live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors and more. Traditionally, admission to the fest has been $5 on Friday and Sunday, $10 Saturday after 4 p.m. to see the headlining music acts. April 7, 2018: It's the 32nd Annual Run/walk for the Turtles sponsored by Mote Marine on Siesta Key Public Beach. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Siesta Key Gazebo south of the pavilion. The one-mile fun run or walk begins at 7:30 a.m. The 5-K Run begins at 8 a.m. The entry fee benefits the Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory. 388-4441 xt 357. April 7 - 8, 2018: Sarasota Bay plays host to the Sarasota Youth Sailing Club's annual SailFest Regatta. It's part of a nationwide event for sailors ages 8 - 21. The headquarters for the club and event is at 1717 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota (on City Island).

You'll find jewelry and pottery, ceramics plus photography as well as painting, clothing and much more. Everything is handmade in the USA! April 7 - 18, 2018: The critically-acclaimed La Musica International Chamber Music Festival celebrates 32 seasons this year. Joining Artistic Director Bruno Giuranna (violist, Italy) and Associate Artistic Director Derek Han (pianist, USA) this season are violinists Federico Agostini (Italy), Claudio Cruz (Brazil), Ruth Lenz (USA); violist Daniel Palmizio (Italy) making his La Musica debut; cellists Christine J. Lee (Korea), Antonio Meneses (Switzerland), and Erica Piccotti (Italy) making her La Musica debut; and guitarist Jason Vieaux (USA) back by popular demand for a second year. April 8, 2018: Moving to April this year it's the 14th annual Capt John Breuggeman Memorial Grouper Tournament. Registration and more info. April 8, 2017: It's the DeSoto Heritage Festival Bottle Boat Regatta taking place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the south side of Palma Sola Causeway. Featured are handmade model boats of all kinds made out of plastic bottles. Boats must be on site by 9 a.m. Registration fees: $10 per crewe member,  (Elementary, Middle and High Schools), $15 per crew member, ages 18 and over. April 11 - 15, 2017: It's fun for all kids and kids at heart! Celebrating its 68th anniversary, it's the PAL Sailor Circus which takes place under the Big Top. The Greatest "little Show on Earth" celebrates the tradition of the circus arts with more than 100 young circus artists. Sharks tooth festival Venice Florida

April 13 -  15, 2018: Want to go hunting for Shark tooth fossils? Want a simple and inexpensive way to do it? Then attend the 26th Annual Venice Sharks Tooth Festival on the Airport Festival Grounds in Venice, Florida on Airport Avenue. Admission is only $4, kids under 12 are free and there's even free parking at this, one of the spring's most popular fests held at the Venice Airport Festival grounds. There are fossils, food, arts and crafts, entertainment and children's activities. April 13 - 22, 2018: It's the 20th Annual Sarasota Film Festival, one of the year's biggest events. It's 10 days of movies, celebrities and parties when Hollywood comes to Sarasota! Hollywood Stars attending the 2017 Film Festival included Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, and Aisha Tyler. Actors Stanley Tucci, and Rosanna Arquette, who took part in the "In Conversation With" series, also attended the 2017 festival. On the 2016 appearance agenda were actresses and actors: Sophia Loren, Olympia Dukakis, George Hamilton, Mathew Modine, Treat Williams and more. Making appearances in 2015 were actresses Cloris Leachman, Jane Seymour and Blythe Danner. In recent years: making an appearance at the 2013 Film Festival was actress Mariel Hemingway. The 2012 Feature actor and special guest was Frank Langella. 2011's special guest and honoree was the legendary Christopher Plummer, who received the "Cinema Master" Award. April 14, 2018: It's the "Beach'N Food Truck Festival" featuring several live bands, a huge classic car show from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., arts and crafts vendors, a kid zone and Local bands will be performing live music to keep you jamming all throughout the day into the evening...lots of food trucks including some of the area's favorite food trucks! Refreshing adult beverages will be available – from wine, margaritas, rum runners and cold beer to soft drinks and water. Parking is available on Coquina Beach. You can also park in other locations further away along Bradenton Beach, Manatee Public Beach, etc. and ride the free trolley to the event. April 14 - 15, 2018: It's the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sculling Championships featuring single, double and quad sculling events vying for Florida's youth state championships. April 14 - 22, 2018: It's the 2018 Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open Tennis Championship Tournament, with $100,000 in prize money, bringing the top tennis pros in the world to Sarasota. Tickets and more information. Now in it's 11th year, the Sarasota Open is the premiere USTA Men’s Pro Circuit event on Florida's west coast. April 15, 2017: The Sandbar Restaurant will host its 31st Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. with refreshments served starting at 8:30am. The hunt will take place in the wedding and event pavilion adjacent to the restaurant. Make sure to bring your own basket(s) for the Easter Egg Hunt. After the Egg Hunt, the Easter Bunny will lead a parade down Pine Avenue where the 6th Annual Easter Egg Roll and 5th Annual Easter Bonnet Contest will take place. There will be face painting, egg rolling and coloring, complimentary framed pictures with the Easter Bunny, live music and more. April 15, 2017: The Mar Vista will also be having their 7th Annual Easter Egg Hunt starting at 10:00 a.m. Refreshments will be served. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance. April 15, 2017: It's time to Celebrate World Circus Day with all day free admission to the Circus Museum at the Ringling. See the world's largest miniature circus while you're there along with John Ringling's Club Cars and explore the history of the circus from ancient times till now. It's amazing. April 15, 2017: You're invited to “Rock Out 4 Rescue” being hosted by Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS) and Friends of Manatee County Animal Services (FoMCAS). The all-day, family-friendly event will feature entertainment and food, plus all adoption fees will be only $20, with over 200 animals at the shelter facility.  A full day of local entertainment, including live music, food and a marketplace for the community to enjoy. Information and vendor booths, food vendors, kids’ activities and a live music area will be set up on the grounds of the Palmetto facility. Cleanup projects can take place in any location throughout Sarasota county that volunteer groups wish to target. April 22, 2017: It's the 3rd Annual Blues, Brews and BBQ Fest with live music from suncoast blues artist Steve Arvey, known as “Stone Crab Steve.” Along with the music there will be tasty food and barbecue and a full liquor bar along with standard domestic beers, wine and non-alcoholic selections also available, a silent auction and more. April 28, 2018: Enjoy the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade, a parade for all ages to see, which steps off at 6:30 p.m., with over 150 parade entries, from Manatee H.S. in Bradenton, then goes west on 9th avenue, north along 39th street to Manatee avenue, then turning east headed toward downtown to 9th street. Siesta Key Florida Siesta Fiesta

April 28 - 29, 2018: It's the always popular 40th annual Siesta Fiesta which takes place in Siesta Key Village from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's sort of a farewell party for all of our “snowbird” friends from the colder climates of the northern U.S, Canada and afar, who come to be with us in Sarasota throughout the winter season. April 29, 2018: It's the 16th Annual "Ride The Beaches" scenic bike rides sponsored by Sharky's on the Pier. There's a 70 mile, 35 mile and 15 mile ride. Check in and breakfast starts at 6:00 a.m. The 70 mile ride starts at 7:30 a.m. The 35 mile ride begins at 8 a.m. The 15 mile ride begins at 9 a.m. There's a full lunch served from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The ride benefits the Live Strong Foundation. $40 registration. 6 am - 2 p.m. Sharky's is at 1600 Harbor Drive on Venice Island. April 29, 2017: It's the 3rd Annual Children's Book Fair and Family Fun Day at the Bradenton Farmers’ Market. The event includes book signings with10 local authors and illustrators. Other family-fun activities include demonstrations by illustrators; storytelling; yoga for kids; crafts with artists from Village of the Arts; juggling, cooking and gardening demos, beekeeping demos and more. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market, located on Old Main Street, between Manatee Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West in downtown Bradenton, is open on Saturdays through May 27th. April 29 - 30, 2017: It's the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sweep Championships featuring High School teams and clubs vying for the State Champion Title for the pairs, fours and eights rowing events. Over 1800 participants are expected to attend Saturday and Sunday. April 29 - 30, 2017: Enjoy the 2017 Air Fair Giant Fly In sponsored by the Golden Eagle Squadron featuring radio controlled airplanes.  Flying from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. both days. It is a free fly in for all to attend with plenty of free parking, handicap parking and is a wheel chair friendly flying field. Sun shelters are available with ceiling fans. Bring your own chairs and sunscreen. Concessions at the Runaway Café include cold soft drinks and grilled hamburger and hot dogs. Free admission. Directions: The field is located 3 miles east on Bee Ridge Road (at the east end of Bee Ridge Road) in the Sarasota County Rothenback Park. April 30, 2018: Enjoy the Venice Concert Band's final performance of the season, "Strike up the Band," at the Venice Performing Arts Center. More info & Tickets. The band, which features both professional and amateur musicians, features a variety of selections in their repertoire from show tunes to marches and classical.
