Memorial Day Weekend Events

May 29, 2023:  TBA for 2024. Memorial Day, at 3:00 pm, there is a National Moment of Remembrance, an annual event that asks Americans, wherever they are at 3:00 pm local time, to pause for one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States. TAPS Across America encourages all who are interested to play TAPS at 3:00 pm. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying time off for work for the national holiday.(in 2022 this event took place at Patriot Plaza on Memorial Day from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Sarasota National Cemetery, Patriot Plaza, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL We are awaiting news from Sarasota National Commentary as to their involvement in this event in 2023 but at this time they have not responded to our phone inquires.)

Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those many heroes who have given so much to secure the freedoms we today take for granted here in the U.S. Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend, from my May Sarasota Events Calendar and Escape-to-Sarasota.
