Wanna Party? Have I got some Sarasota Bars and Clubs for you to check out!
After a fun day on the beaches, site seeing or shopping you may be ready for a hot time. SO get ready to GET DOWN and let The Good Times Roll! Here we go.
The complete list on this page also includes establishments on Anna Maria Island, Lido Key, Siesta Key, St. Armand's Circle and in Osprey, Nokomis and near by Venice as well.
One area that has a concentration of Sarasota Bars and Clubs is Gulf Gate, just south of Rt. 41 and Stickney Point and turn east off of Rt. 41 at Gulf Gate Drive.
There you will find Gateway and Superior streets and a few fun Sarasota Bars to choose from including Badda Bing Bar, a sports bar with full liquor, pool and more than 300,000 tunes on their Juke Box.
Also on Superior, is Monks Steamer Bar, another sports bar, but with a full steamer menu, pool, arcade games and more.
On Gateway Street you'll find The Boars Head Lounge.
If you're looking for some fine craft beers, then The Sarasota Brewing Company is your place, home to a half dozen award winners including my favorite: Ya Mills Honeymeade Ale. Also in Gulf Gate, there’s a bar and food too, including pizza.
Gulf Gate is a cool, hip little area and one you should check out for some fun!
By the way, if you just want to cut to the chase, I have a rather extensive listing of Sarasota Bars and Clubs below.
If you're staying out on Siesta Key and really want to get "rockin," beat your feet down the street to The Beach Club on Ocean Boulevard in Siesta Village where things really get cranked up. They have live music 7 nights a week and happy hour priced pints until 9 p.m.
Other places on Siesta Key where you can have a good time are the Daiquiri Deck, in the Village, along with the Siesta Key Oyster Bar (or SKOB as it's called locally), which frequently has live music plus there's Gilligans' and on the south end of the Key you can meander over to The Turtle Beach Pub (they have a great burger, too!) which has a comfortable outside deck as well as an indoor bar.
AND During the hottest months of summer the Daiquiri Deck has cold air blowing down from air conditioners in the ceiling and the Turtle Beach Pub has large fans surrounding the outdoor deck. Nice touches.
If you're staying near Osprey, Nokomis and Venice, or just want to "explore," then here are some places just outside of Sarasota you might want to wander off to:
The Old Venice Pub on Venice Avenue is in historic downtown Venice. It’s up on the 2nd floor. This is a nice, quaint, friendly ole pub where you can even smoke a cigar. They only serve beer and wine here. Just take Rt. 41 south into downtown Venice to the intersection of Rt 41 and Venice Avenue. (There's a parking lot on the right just before the stop light at Venice Avenue. Park there and go upstairs.)
One of my favorite Sarasota Bars along the sun coast is the Tiki Hut Bar at the Casey Key Fish House where you can enjoy beer, tropical drinks and cocktails while looking out at the intra-coastal waterway and the boats coming and going.
It’s a great vantage point and there’s live music on weekends. It's also smoker friendly. And you can order food from the restaurant and bring it over to the Tiki Hut. From Sarasota take Rt. 41 south to Osprey, turn right at Blackburn Point road and it’s across the swing bridge on the immediate left.
There is an extensive number of Tiki Hut Bars indexed below in my comprehensive list of Sarasota Bars and Clubs.
There’s also a Tiki Hut Bar and a nice outdoor patio at Pops Sunset Grill in Nokomis, which sits right on the intra-coastal waterway, where you can get your favorite beer, wine or cocktails and it's cigar friendly. Pops also has TVs in the bar for keeping tabs on the games and is usually filled with all my rowdy friends for the big game days. From Sarasota take Rt. 41 south to Nokomis and turn right on Albee road, them left on Circuit Road before the drawbridge and go all the way back behind the marina.
And if you would like to party in downtown Sarasota, the place to be for live music and all things "HOT" is The Gator Club at Main Street and Lemon Avenue. With live music nightly you can jam until the wee hours of the morning. Fun side note: The Gator Club was used for a couple of scenes in the 1998 Woody Harrelson movie, "Palmetto."
If you're a little bit Country, you can always put on your boots and amble over to the White Buffalo Saloon in Sarasota. It's a cross between a sports bar, casual restaurant and country music dance hall with a 2,500 square foot dance floor. You can take free line dancing lessons there on Thursday and Sunday Nights and there's live music on Saturdays. It's a wide ranging crowd from age 21 to 70, so there's probably someone you can latch on to for a dance or tip a beer with. They're open Wednesday - Saturday 4 p.m. - 2 a.m., Sunday 4 p.m. - midnight. 5337 McIntosh Road.
For more fun ideas on where to go and party check out the list below.
Have fun! Drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive. If you over do it, have the bartender call a taxi for you or have a designated driver take you home.
I'll look forward to bumping into you in one of these Sarasota Bars or Clubs.
Until then, Cheers!
