The June Sarasota Events Calendar includes the best of the best fun free (or next to nothing) Sarasota happenings.



June 1, 2018: Enjoy Live Music in the Park at Cafe in the Park with Rebecca Pulley. Food service: 6 p.m., Music: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Free admission. Enjoy music, food, weather, and views of Sarasota's most charming little downtown park. Seating is limited so feel free to bring a beach chair or folding chair. Cafe in the Park is just located south of downtown Sarasota in Payne Park, 2010 Adams Lane, Sarasota, FL.

June 1, 2018: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6p.m  - 9 p.m! Beer, wine and food available. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

June 1 - 2, 2018: You are invited to Manatee Village Historical Park’s Afternoon Tea to be held at Charms of Leffingwell in the heart of historic Ellenton. Charms of Leffingwell is an antiques gallery and tea room located in the historic Mathews House (1905). The staff of Manatee Village will open the tea with a short talk about the role that tea rooms played in the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Table decorations will include trivia cards about the history of tea and suffragette history. Dress-up is encouraged. There will be a best hat contest with prizes. These afternoon teas will include freshly brewed hot tea of your choice (over 20 types to chose from!), homemade scones, Devonshire cream, pastries, and savories. The tea will begin at 11 a.m. This is a ticketed event with limited space. Tickets are $20.00. Tickets are on sale from May 1 through May 22, and must be purchased by cash or check. June 2, 2018: Enjoy the family festival World Oceans Day at Mote Aquarium. With games and crafts, marine science and more to learn it's sure to be a fun and informative few hours and will spotlight the ocean's deep connection to the human spirit and the boundless inspirational power of our natural world's greatest resource. June 2, 2018: Yo-ho, mateys! Bring the kids to Snook Adams Kids Day for a fun celebration to end the school year. The Anna Maria Island Privateers annual fest includes games and prizes, a treasure hunt, pirates, free pizza, hot dogs and drinks. Plus you can see their pirate ship up close and hop aboard. June 2 - 4, 2017: It's the 5th Annual Sarasota Shootout-White Buffalo Saloon Tarpon Tournament with 2 divisions: kayak and boat. First place prizes: $2,500 biggest girth, $2,500 most releases, plus second and third place cash prizes of $1,500 & $500. Also a chance to win a Hobie Outback Kayak. Captains meeting is June 2 at 6 p.m. at Conley Buick GMC in Bradenton, awards and prizes handed out on June 4 at 4 p.m. at Spanish Point Pub in Osprey. June 4 - 24, 2018: The Sarasota Orchestra presents The Sarasota Music Festival. From Artisit Showcases, Friday Festivals, Saturday Symphonies, Rising Stars, Special Recitals, and more, there's lots to take in. For three weeks you can enjoy the best up and coming young musicians from around the world along with chamber music, master classes and concerts.Enjoy classical music at its finest. June 5 - 6, 2018: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through Aug. 7) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through Aug. 8) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. For ages 1 - 17, participation ribbons are awarded along with a free ice pop each week. Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the beach run starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Free. The runs are a popular summer event combining exercise and fun. Complete four runs and earn a free custom T-shirt along with other prizes. More at 941-861-5000.

June 6, 2017: It's the 2nd Annual FST Backlot BBQ when it's time to fire up the grill and host a Southern-style Back Lot BBQ fundraiser. There will be live music from the Manatee River Bluegrass Band and all the fixin’s - cooked low and slow. Ribs, chicken, pork, you name it. . Enjoy a cold beverage and bring your appetite to dine in the Goldstein Cabaret. Tickets are $100, of which $60 is tax deductible. A $1000 sponsorship includes 6 tickets, and primary seating. June 9, 2017: Check out Free Music Friday Night with Andy Perry Country in the Gazebo in Centennial Park in downtown Venice. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. 7 p.m. Free admission. Downtown Venice.

June 8 - 10, 2018: Enjoy the Bradenton Boat Show with a huge selection of new boats, boating accessories. fishing gear and more. Plus the Captain Joe Fishing School where you can learn from expert anglers. Admission: $5, 12 and under are free. Free parking. June 9 - 10, 2018: The 17th annual St. Armand's Craft Festival is held around circle park. You may view and purchase all kinds of artistic works from over 175 artisans with everything from paintings to jewelry, ceramics, pottery and much more. It's a fun event to stroll along through and look at all the uniquely creative ideas on display. St. Armand's Circle is just over the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota. It's free and there's lots of free parking too. It's from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days.

June 12 - July 28, 2018: The Ringling Museum presents their Summer Circus Spectacular. It's presented in collaboration with The Circus Arts Conservatory of Sarasota. Various show days and times. June 16, 2018: Find fun and more at the 13th Annual Boots vs Badges Competition for Suncoast Blood Bank taking place with a blood donation competition. It's the North Port Police vs the North Port Fire Dept. to see who can get more donations for the sun coast. In addition there's also games, activities and family friendly fun, a photo booth and emergency vehicles on display for all to see. 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  4970 City Hall Blvd, North Port, FL

June 16, 2017: Enjoy an evening on the bay front and some free live music as the 16th annual summer music fest kicks off summer with "Friday Fest '17" at the Van Wezel with live music by blues aficionados Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones! Bring your lawn chair or blanket, take in the music along with the beautiful Sarasota sunset and enjoy food and beverage from local vendors. Outside food and drink is prohibited. June 16 - 17, 2018: See creativity on display at the 26th annual Downtown Venice Craft Festival. What's featured? Stained glass, photography, personalized products for children and dogs alike, and much more! Stroll through the Green Market for plants, handmade soaps, tangy BBQ sauces and live orchids. Traditionally held on the third Saturday and Sunday of June in downtown Venice, Florida, the hours for the free event are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Miami Avenue W. in downtown Venice. June 17, 2018: Enjoy the season finale of the Selby Garden Music Series with live music by Diego Figueiredo with Chiaraizzi combining Jazz, Bossa Nova and Classical. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Limited seating provided on first come, first served basis. Food and drinks available on site for purchase. No outside food/beverages allowed. 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.  Adults: $25. Sarasota Offshore Boat Racing Florida

June 23 - July 4, 2018: One of the biggest Sarasota happenings of the year is the Suncoast Offshore Powerboat Racing Festival. The Festival is held annually. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year. You don't need a ticket for the races and you can come as you are. It's smokin' hot! (See July Events Calendar for more Suncoast Offshore Racing Festival Events.) June 26 - July 1, 2017: Celebrate the 3rd annual Shark Days at Mote Aquarium with a full week of education and entertainment along with real sharks and real science. Learn about the science behind these incredible animals, ask questions of Mote shark experts, kids can participate in "Sharks & Crafts," a free activity with paid admission. On Saturday, July 1, enjoy the Fins & Fun Family Festival with shark related games, activities and crafts in the Aquarium’s courtyard. Entertainment, fun and more. June 27, 2017: The Orioles Gulf Coast League (GCL) team will play its first home game at the Ed Smith Stadium complex at 12:00 p.m. against the GCL Twins. The GCL, which includes 17 teams, gives recently drafted or signed players their first experience in professional baseball. The Orioles are scheduled to play 30 GCL home games between June 27 and September 1. The games are open to the public at no cost. Parking is free and located in the East Lot at the corner of 12th Street and Tuttle Avenue. Game times and location are subject to change without notice.
