June 2, 2017: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6-9 p.m! Beer, wine and food available. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

June 3, 2017: It's the Suncoast International Dragon Boat Festival.  Everyone ages 12+ are invited to take part. Gather 24 of your friends, co-workers, church friends, family, etc. and form a team! Boats, life-vests, paddles and coaches are provided...you provide the fun! The fee for corporate teams is $1200. Community, club teams within 200 miles of the venue, and breast cancer teams have a $650 entry fee (that’s only $27 per person for a day of fun!). June 3, 2017: Enjoy the family festival World Oceans Day at Mote Aquarium. With games and crafts, marine science and more to learn it's sure to be a fun and informative few hours. 2017's National Theme is "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." June 3, 2017: Check out your aura or look into the future at the Psychic Fair which features Psychic Readings, Mediumship, Tarrot Readings and more. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Readings: 20 minutes for $20. Last reading: 2:30 p.m. 238 W. Tampa Ave., Venice Centre Mall #258 KMI, downtown Venice.

June 7 - 8, 2016: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through Aug. 9) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through Aug. 10) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, Venice. Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the beach run starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. There's a one-time $1 registration fee. The runs are a popular summer event combining exercise and fun. More at 941-861-5000.

June 8 - 24, 2017: The Sarasota Orchestra presents The Sarasota Music Festival. From Artist Showcases to Friday Festivals and Saturday Symphonies and Special Recitals, there's lots to take in. For three weeks you can enjoy the best up and coming young musicians from around the world along with chamber music, master classes and concerts.Enjoy classical music at its finest. June 9, 2017: Check out Free Music Friday Night with Andy Perry Country in the Gazebo in Centennial Park in downtown Venice. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. 7 p.m. Free admission. Downtown Venice.

June 9 - 11, 2017: Enjoy the Bradenton Boat Show with a huge selection of new boats, boating accessories. fishing gear and more. Plus the Captain Joe Fishing School where you can learn from expert anglers. Admission: $5, 12 and under are free. Free parking. June 10, 2016: Enjoy an evening on the bayfront and some free live music as the 15th annual summer music fest kicks off summer with "Friday Fest" at the Van Wezel with live music by Koko Ray & The Keepers playing Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz and Rock n Roll! Bring your lawn chair or blanket, food and drink vendors available, outside food and drink is prohibited. June 10 - 11, 2017: The 16th annual St. Armand's Craft Festival is held around circle park. You may view and purchase all kinds of artistic works from over 175 artisans with everything from paintings to jewelry, ceramics, pottery and much more. It's a fun event to stroll along through and look at all the uniquely creative ideas on display. St. Armand's Circle is just over the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota. It's free and there's lots of free parking too. It's from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days.

June 11, 2016: Take the kids to Selby's Splashin Saturdays during June and July and have fun with water activities, water slides and games in the cool shade and around the lagoon and waterfall of the Children's Rain Forest Garden. There are also kids' corner activities and musical entertainment. June 11, 2016: Yo-ho, mateys! Bring the kids to Snook Adams Kids Day for a fun celebration to end the school year. The Anna Maria Island Privateers annual fest includes water balloon tossing, pirate tales and songs, water pistol fights, a pirate costume contest and scavengaer hunt. Plus you can see their pirate ship up close and hop aboard. They will even have hot dogs and pizza on hand. Free. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Bay Front Park, 316 North Bay Blvd., Anna Maria Island. June 11, 2016: It's Military Appreciation Night at McKechnie Filed as the Bradenton Marauders host the Tampa Yankees. Enjoy Craft Beer night as well from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Fan Plaza and see a pre-game Para Commandos Parachute Demonstration as well as a Military Heroes Card Set Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans that enter the ballpark! June 12, 2016: Enjoy an Authentic Hawaiian Luau guaranteed to get your hips swaying to the Island breeze as Polynesian Musicians and Waikiki Dancers perform. Hawaiian Fair will be served and a specialty Keniki Koki Aloha Drink is included. Learn Hawaiian dance and see Flame Throwers finish out the evening as the sun sets over the pier. Hawaiian attiire is suggested. June 12, 2016: Enjoy a family friendly evening of patriotic fun on this 239th birthday of the U.S. Flag in Patriot's Plaza. The Stars and Stripes Foundation presents the Pops Orchestra of Bradenton and Sarasota performing a 90 minute concert of patriotic musical in honor of Flag Day along with choral selections from the Gloria Musical singers. Seating available for 1,000, first come basis. Bring a lawn chair or cushion. Free admission and parking. 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Patriot's Plaza, Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota.

June 14, 2016: Salute our Grand Ole Flag at the Annual Sarasota Flag Day celebration with honor guards, a live band and free flags along with sidewalk chalk art and more. Hosted by the Florida Veterans for Common Sense and the Sarasota ACLU, the celebration takes place from 4:30 p.m - 7 p.m. at Five Points Park in downtown Sarasota.

June 14, 2016: Yum! Enjoy a Taste of Sarasota's Spring Fling where you can taste and enjoy food from numerous eateries like White Horse Pub, Opa! Opa! June 15 - July 30, 2016: Enjoy the Summer Circus Spectacular with incredible family entertainment presented by the Circus Arts Conservatory and The Ringling. Various show times. June 17 - 18, 2017: See creativity on display at the 25th annual Downtown Venice Craft Festival. What's featured? Stained glass, photography, personalized products for children and dogs alike, and much more! Stroll through the Green Market for plants, handmade soaps, tangy BBQ sauces and live orchids. Traditionally held on the third Saturday and Sunday of June in downtown Venice, Florida, the hours for the free event are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Miami Avenue W. in downtown Venice. June 18, 2017: Celebrate Dad's day at the 5th Annual Fathers & Fenders Car Show which will feature about 120 vintage automobiles on display. Trophies, door prizes, music and drinks available. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Five Points Park, downtown Sarasota.

June 18, 2016: The Sarasota Stand Up Paddleboard Races takes place on Lido Key Beach with several divisions of racers. There are several races including: Elite Race, Open Race, Open Race and Coed Team Relay Sprint Races. Open to both beginners and pros, it takes place at The Sand Castle Resort, on Ben Franklin Drive, on Lido Key Beach. To participate there's an entry fee but it's free to watch. 7:30 a.m. check in time. More details here.

June 18, 2016: There will be a Veterans’ Appreciation Fair where veterans will be recognized for the important role they’ve played in protecting the freedom we all enjoy. There will also be veteran service organizations on hand to educate veterans regarding available resources and work with them to ensure they receive the health care and benefits they’ve earned.  Open to all veterans, National Guard, Reserve, and active duty service men and women. 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Military Academy, 801 North Orange Avenue in Sarasota. June 24, 2016: The Orioles Gulf Coast League (GCL) team will play its first home game of the 2016 season at the Ed Smith Stadium complex  at 12:00 p.m. against the GCL Rays. The GCL, which includes 17 teams, gives recently drafted or signed players their first experience in professional baseball. The Orioles are scheduled to play 30 GCL home games between June 24 and August 31. The games are open to the public at no cost. Sarasota Offshore Boat Racing Florida

June 24 - July 4, 2017: One of the biggest Sarasota happenings of the year on my June Sarasota Events Calendar is the Suncoast Offshore Racing Festival. The Festival is held annually. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year. You don't need a ticket for the races and you can come as you are. It's smokin' hot! (See July Events Calendar for more Suncoast Offshore Racing Festival Events.) June 25, 2016: The weekly Sarasota Farmer's Market will (not) hold its 6th Annual Shrimp & Lobster Fest! The market will feature vendors serving lobster rolls, shrimp and Maine lobster dinners along with other shrimp and lobster delicacies plus burgers on the grill. There will also be a dining tent, live music and a raffle drawing. The special fest will run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Farmer's Market is from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free admission. June 25, 2016: Here's a new one! At The Gluten Free + Healthy Lifestyles Expo you can learn how to live healthy and love it. Sample products, get coupons, attend informative classes & demos along with hundreds of people living the gluten free lifestyle. It's a fun, family-friendly, educational event with over 50 exhibitors and respected guest speakers. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and 12 and under are free. June 28, 2016:  The offshore "Grand Prix by the Sea" Festival kick off party takes place at the Sarasota Yacht Club. There will be live music, food stations, open bar, valet parking. June 29, 2016: It's the by invitation only Friendliest Catch Fishing Tournament for the physically and mentally challenged from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Sarasota Outboard Club on Ken Thompson Parkway. From downtown Sarasota cross the Ringling Bridge to St. Armand’s Circle, bear to the right, then north toward Longboat Key, watch for the signs and turn right at Ken Thompson Parkway, before the bridge to Longboat Key.
