The July Sarasota Events Calendar has the best of the best fun free (or next to nothing) "happenings" in Sarasota, Florida and around the sun coast.



2024: Powerboat P1 is heading to Sarasota later than normal on September 14 - 15, 2024 for the next round of the 2024 APBA National and UIM World Championships. Around 60 competitors are expected for two days of world-class marine motorsport action off of sparkling Lido Key Beach. The race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota events of the year, but no longer directly a part of the Suncoast Summer Fest. You don't need a ticket for the offshore races and you can come as you are. It's smokin' hot! The Sarasota leg of  the Powerboat P1-produced race is the third of several races in the 2023 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. July 1 - August 2, 2024: Have your kids enjoy Nature Summer Camp! There are many things to explore and discover at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature Summer Camp. Learn, explore, craft, play, snack, and have fun every day! Camp Times are 9am-3:30pm Monday through Friday with 8:30-9am Drop off & Pick up 3:30-4pm. $250 members/$300 non-members per week. July 3, 2024: Bradenton:  As All-American as it gets: Baseball and fireworks! Take in the Marauder's Baseball game along with Fireworks after the game at LECOM Field. July 4, 2024: Celebrate Independence Day at Snook Haven’s 4th of July Celebration & Kid Fest, a FREE, family-friendly event from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Live musical entertainment featuring local band, Old Glory, will take place from 1 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. They'll be servin' up sizzlin' ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages, right off the grill. Plus, enjoy fresh grilled corn, juicy watermelon slices and homemade Strawberry Funnel Cake. Guests will also enjoy all sorts of activities for the kiddos (and the kiddos at heart!). It’ll be a day full of great music, delicious food and refreshing brews in a fantastic “Old Florida” setting. July 4, 2024: Have a Grand Old Time and Celebrate America’s Independence Day, The Fourth of July! The Sarasota Suncoast puts on as festive an occasion as anywhere else. During the long holiday weekend there are events and fireworks displays up and down the coast, from beach to shining beach! All fireworks displays start around dusk, of course, and all can be viewed by land as well as some by sea. (Please note: schedules may change and weather conditions may force cancellation of events.) July 4, 2024:The Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks, organized by Suncoast Charities for Children in partnership with Marina Jack close out the evening celebration around dark. Lighting up the bay front skies, like most fireworks displays it starts at around 9 pm or close to sun down. July 5, 2024: Sarasota County is looking for volunteers for the 10th Annual Liberty Litter Cleanup. Volunteers will focuses on area beaches hit hardest by the July 4th celebrations. Cleanup efforts will take place from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. at Siesta Key, Lido Beach, South Lido Beach, Nokomis Beach, North Jetty Park, Venice Beach and Blind Pass Beach & Park. Here's important information about registration:

  • All volunteers must register to participate by submitting an individual registration form.
  • If you are part of a group, be sure to note the name of your volunteer group on the registration form and encourage all of your volunteers to register at the same time to secure their volunteer spot at the preferred location.
  • Walk-up volunteers will not be accepted on the day of the event.

The first 100 volunteers to register qualify for FIRST OPTION ACCESS to this year's commemorative Liberty Litter Cleanup T-shirt. July 5, 2024: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Beer, wine and food available. The street is lined with food vendors, beer trucks, and sponsor booths, as well as rides and activities for the kids. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75. Break out your big hair and acid-washed denims and get ready to rock out with some of your favorite artists in the Planetarium. The event takes place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from May 23 through August 31. There are various food and drink options available for purchase onsite with cash or card. Shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Please note that Laser Light Nights involve bright, flashing lasers that may not be suitable for people with photo sensitivities. Viewer discretion is advised. Laser Light Nights are at a volume similar to a rock concert, so earplugs are recommended for those who prefer a lower volume. Tickets: $15. July 9 - 10, 2024: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (June 4 - July 30, 2024) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (June 5 - July 31, 2024) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. No runs the week of July 4th. While basically a sales promotion, you can catch Santa Claus, see Christmas themed windows, ride the trolley and get some great deals and discounts. Register to win one of several gift baskets. July 12 - 13, 2024: It's the 14th annual Sarasota Improv Festival, the premier festival of its kind in the Southeastern United States. July 13, 2024: It's the Manatee Sunrise Kiwanis club's 5th Annual Cornhole & Cocktails Festival. Cornhole & Cocktails Festival will have a fun indoor cornhole tournament, music, food, drinks and raffles. There will be restaurants with samples of their food and cocktails along with breweries, wineries and distilleries with samples of their selections! Guests are invited to enter the Veterans Hall located in Palmetto, FL and try as many different food and drink items they wish! MVP Sports and Social Club will be hosting the cornhole tournament for the FUNdraising Festival! Registration for the cornhole tournament begins right at 3, so get in early to get registered! July 14, 2024: A fan favorite returns to CoolToday Park! Summer Movie Nights will be held at the ballpark on most Sundays in June and July  The movie is a showing of the film "Arthur the King." July 20 - 21, 2024: It's the 13th Annual Mystic Faire featuring everything metaphysical. Billed as the largest psychic fair in southwest Florida it will feature over 75 exhibitors and more than 25 psychics. Hear free lecturers and see psychics, healers and vendors of many kinds. July 20, 2024 - September 15, 2024: Selby Gardens is Featuring the “Florida Highwaymen” in a 2024 Summer Exhibition. The legendary Black landscape artists known as the Florida Highwaymen emerged in the 1950s in the agricultural communities of Fort Pierce and Gifford, Florida. Largely self-taught, these talented artists produced colorful scenes of Florida’s unique landscapes that appealed to residents and tourists alike. Their iconic images captured the natural beauty of the Sunshine State prior to the impact of increased urbanization. They were prolific painters, who sold their artwork from the trunks of their cars during the post-World War II boom because they were unable to exhibit through traditional means due to the color of their skin. July 26, 2024: It's the Free Music Friday Night Concert  with live music at Centennial Park featuring Jane Bond.  Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. July 26, 2024: Get ready for a night of safe summer fun for kids ages 8 to 15! The City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with the Sarasota Police Department to bring you the "K.O.P.S. Summer Fun Night" at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex. K.O.P.S., which stands for "Kids and Officers Promoting Solidarity," aims to build strong bonds between local children and law enforcement officers. On Friday, July 26, kids 8 to 15 years old are invited to a summer bash featuring games, sports, and the opportunity to hang out with our amazing local officers in a fun and supportive environment. From 5 pm to 7 pm, kids aged 8 to 11 can participate in fun activities and swim in the pool. Then, from 7 pm to 9 pm, kids aged 12 to 15 can enjoy an evening of sports, games, and good times. The best part? Dinner, refreshments, safe supervision, and activities are all completely free of charge for attendees. July 30, 2024: The annual First Sarasota Freedom Celebration is a community-wide celebration featuring inspiring patriotic music with the First Sarasota Choir & Orchestra! July 30 - 31, 2024: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (June 4 - July 30, 2024) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (June 5 - July 31, 2024) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. No runs the week of July 4th. July 31 - August 4, 2024:  It's the Florida State Dance Sport Championships' 52nd Anniversary. Formerly known as  the "Brakers competition."  Every day and night is filled with dancers competing from all over the world. Traditionally morning and afternoons are dedicated for all level Pro/Am dancers and this year they expect biggest participation in 52 years. Evenings will be set for Professional Championships, and every night will have different divisions and styles where professionals will try to win and be crowned as the new 2024 Champions. Additional events include seminars with dance sport legends (open to public), gourmet dinners, general dancing and awards ceremony. Various sessions and ticket prices.
