The July Sarasota Events Calendar has the best of the best fun free (or next to nothing) "happenings" in Sarasota, Florida and around the sun coast.



2026: TBA for 2026. The race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota events of the year, but no longer directly a part of the Suncoast Summer Fest. You don't need a ticket for the offshore races and you can come as you are. It's smokin' hot! The Sarasota leg of  the Powerboat P1-produced race is the third of several races in the 2023 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. July 1, 2026: The late, legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and longtime Osprey, Florida resident Dickey Betts will be honored with a memorial highway, an unveiling ceremony and a live tribute concert in his hometown of Osprey, Florida. The state of Florida in 2026 passed a bill designating a portion of U.S. 41 between North Creek and Blackburn Point Road as Dickey Betts Memorial Highway. The highway sign unveiling ceremony is by invitation only, but the concert is free and open to the public. The concert will be held at The Point Waterfront Restaurant — Evie's on the Bay in Osprey, with tunes firing up about 6 p.m. Guest musicians might include former bandmates from the Dickey Betts Band and his Great Southern group. 6 p.m. The Point Restaurant/Spanish Point, Osprey, FL.

July 1 - July 31, 2026: Have your kids enjoy Summer Science Camp! There are many things to explore and discover at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature Summer Camp. Learn, explore, craft, play, snack, and have fun every day! Camp Times are 9am-3:30pm Monday through Friday except for the 4th of July week with 8:45am-9 am Drop off & Pick up 3:30-3:45 pm. $300 members/$350 non-members per week. And this whole thing runs all summer, Thursdays through Saturdays, with multiple showtimes so you can stack your night. Now the lineup: Classic legends like Queen, The Beatles, and Elton John! Pop icons like Taylor Swift and The Weekend. Rock and alt like Metallica, Foo Fighters, and No Doubt. Special themed nights and throwback shows. Basically, every night hits different, so you can keep coming back and it still feels fresh. Just know it gets loud and flashy, so it’s more of a hype night out than a chill museum stroll. The event takes place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from May 21 through September 5. There are various food and drink options available for purchase onsite with cash or card. Shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Please note that Laser Light Nights involve bright, flashing lasers that may not be suitable for people with photo sensitivities. Viewer discretion is advised. July 4, 2026: Have a Grand Old Time and Celebrate America’s Birthday, The Fourth of July, on our 250th Anniversary of Independence! The Sarasota Suncoast puts on as festive an occasion as anywhere else. During the long holiday weekend there are events and fireworks displays up and down the coast, from beach to shining beach! All fireworks displays start around dusk, of course, and all can be viewed by land as well as some by sea. (Please note: schedules may change and weather conditions may force cancellation of events.) July 4, 2026: The Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks, organized by Suncoast Charities for Children in partnership with Marina Jack to close out the evening celebration of America's 250th Birthday Celebration around dark. Lighting up the bay front skies, like most fireworks displays it starts at around 9 pm or close to sun down. July 5, 2026: Sarasota County is looking for volunteers for the 12th Annual Liberty Litter Cleanup. Volunteers will focuses on area beaches hit hardest by the July 4th celebrations. Cleanup efforts will take place from 7:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. at Siesta Key, Lido Beach, South Lido Beach, Nokomis Beach, North Jetty Park, Venice Beach and Blind Pass Beach & Park. Register on Eventbrite by selecting your preferred location.  Registration closes at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22. Pre-registration and signed release form are required to participate. Interested in leading a cleanup site? Sign up to be a Site Captain during registration! July 7 - 8, 2026: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (June 2 - July 28, 2026) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (June 3 - July 29, 2026) at Brohard Beach (1400 S Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. No runs June 30 & July 1. July 18, 2026: The Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) is excited to continue its monthly open house events in 2025, inviting the community to connect with their local firefighters and learn about fire safety. These free, family-friendly open houses are held one Saturday each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Car seat safety inspections and bike helmet fittings will also be available. July 18 - 19, 2025: TBA for 2027. Due to the construction on their new building, the McGillicuddy Arts Plaza, they’re taking this summer off. They will be back next year, July 9 and 10th, 2027 with their Improv festival. It's the 15th annual Sarasota Improv Festival, the premier festival of its kind in the Southeastern United States. The festival features more than 17 improv troupes, 60+ artists, 29 performances, and 17 workshops. This year's event will have more of a musical bent than in years past. July 23, 2026: The Venice History Museum will host Florida’s Freedom Tour outside the museum. The Florida Freedom Tour, a Mobile History Museum initiative, is designed to bring Florida’s history directly to communities across the state. The Mobile Museum is a traveling museum touring Florida to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. The tour will feature two repurposed 18-wheelers transformed into traveling museums, showcasing exhibits and artifacts from the Museum of Florida History. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Venice History Museum, 351 Nassau St. S., will also be open during special hours July 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where the City’s Centennial exhibit, Venice Turns 100!, is being extended for another year.

July 26, 2026:  It's their annual Christmas in July fundraiser for the Anna Maria Island Privateers' Mission of Helping Kids & Community. Come out 'n celebrate Christmas in July by Eat'n, Drink'n, 'n be'n Merry wit' Santa 'n his Privateer Helpers. Thar will be a Lotto Board and a $5 Dessert Bar. Money raised will go to support their Christmas Families. Handmade crafts and other items. July 28 - 29, 2026: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (June 2 - July 28, 2026) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (June 3 - July 29, 2026) at Brohard Beach (1400 S Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. No runs June 30 & July 1. July 29 - August 2, 2026: It's the Florida State Dance Sport Championships. Formerly known as the "Brakers competition." Every day and night is filled with dancers competing from all over the world. Traditionally morning and afternoons are dedicated for all level Pro/Am dancers and this year they expect biggest participation in 54 years. Evenings will be set for Professional Championships, and every night will have different divisions and styles where professionals will try to win and be crowned as the new 2026 Champions. Additional events include seminars with dance sport legends (open to public), gourmet dinners, general dancing and awards ceremony. Various sessions and ticket prices. July 30 - August 1, 2026: Check it out! Laser Light Nights are back at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature! Think concerts, but you’re inside a dome getting blasted with visuals from every angle. And this whole thing runs all summer, Thursdays through Saturdays, with multiple showtimes so you can stack your night. Now the lineup: Classic legends like Queen, The Beatles, and Elton John! Pop icons like Taylor Swift and The Weekend. Rock and alt like Metallica, Foo Fighters, and No Doubt. Special themed nights and throwback shows. Basically, every night hits different, so you can keep coming back and it still feels fresh. Just know it gets loud and flashy, so it’s more of a hype night out than a chill museum stroll. The event takes place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from May 21 through September 5. There are various food and drink options available for purchase onsite with cash or card. Shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Please note that Laser Light Nights involve bright, flashing lasers that may not be suitable for people with photo sensitivities. Viewer discretion is advised. Laser Light Nights are at a volume similar to a rock concert, so earplugs are recommended for those who prefer a lower volume. Tickets: $15.
