Here's my annual list of Sarasota Halloween Events, Haunted Houses and Festivals around the sun coast area. Have Fun!



October 5, 2018: Experience a Victorian Themed Funeral with grieving widow and fellow mourners where you can also take part as a mourner. This theatrical experience is a spooky but fun look into the history of the Victorian era. It takes place in Mary's Chapel and there are two tours. The 7 p.m. tour is recommended for families. October 6 - 7, 2018: The 30th Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest features hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, mini train rides, a petting zoo, a costume contest every Saturday at 1 p.m. by the stage and more including live music starting at noon. Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. Food available for purchase. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Additional dates are:10/13 - 10/14, 10/20 - 21, & 10/27 - 10/28.  Free admission and parking. East of I-75 off exit 210, on the right. 7410 Fruitville Road, Sarasota.

October 10 - 31, 2018: Are there ghosts in Sarasota? Find out for yourself on a guided, dark and creepy, 75-minute Sarasota ghost walk. Experience the spirited and sinister side of Sarasota on this one-of-a-kind walking tour to learn more about the area and some of the residents who still call it home – many, many, many years later. October 12, 2018: Historic Spanish Point hosts its Ghost Hunting Tours: A Walking tour featuring “un-living” encounters with history and spooky surprises at: 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. & 9:00 p.m. It's a night-time investigation of the spooks, specters, and other ghostly activities of Spanish Point’s 30 acre outdoor museum. This tour will both frighten and entertain your family. (appropriate for kids ages 8 & up). Also again on Oct. 26. Historic Spanish Point, 337 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey. October 13, 2018: It's the 4th annual Howl-O-Ween Movie night Spooktacular shown on the Ed Smith Stadium outfield video board. Children can come dressed in their favorite costume to enjoy free children's games, activities and photo opportunities with the Oriole Bird beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by a costume parade around the bases. The movie, Hocus Pocus, begins at approximately 7 p.m. Bring your blanket for outfield viewing or watch from stadium seating. Concessions available. Coolers are not permitted. No strollers, lawn chairs or high heels allowed on the field. Parking and admission are free. Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for All Faith's Food Bank. OneBlood will be conducting blood donations and donors will receive a free, Halloween-themed T-shirt. October 13, 2018: Enjoy a Halloween Candlelight Tour at Gamble Mansion Historic State Park.This is a family friendly event with children receiving treats at the end of the tour. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but NO SCARY OR BLOODY costumes will be allowed. Visitors will tour the mansion by candlelight and see its many rooms decked out in the Halloween spirit. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets for this event are $6.00 per person (Cash or Check Only) and are available at the Gamble Plantation office. Children 5 years and under are free. Space is limited to 500 people so get your tickets early. October 13 - 14, 2018: Get into the 27th Annual Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival featuring fun for all including craft booths, live music, pioneer trades village, scarecrow displays, pumpkin games for charity, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, frog jumping championships, kids train ride, fresh roasted sweet corn, rock climbing wall, face painting and more. Additional dates: Oct 20 - 21 and Oct  27 - 28. 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Admission $10, kids 12 & under free, parking $5. October 19, 2018: Have fun at the 16th Annual Goblin Gathering and National Night Out at Manatee Counties' G.T. Bray Park. A costume contest, face painting, hay rides, bounce houses and more for the kids. A $5 wristband is sold for children to participate in activities. Parents are free. Several local businesses will be handing out treats and sweets and there will be food vendors also. 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. G.T. Bray Park,  5502 33rd Avenue Drive West, Bradenton. October 20, 2018: They're calling it the Spanish Point Halloween Hayride and it will feature a a movie and a hayride, bonfire, bonfire bags and lots of fun for all ages! 6 p.m - 9 p.m. Spanish Point Restaurant and Tiki Bar, 135 Bayview Drive, Osprey, FL.

October 20, 2018: It's a Night of Fun, Fish & Fright at Mote Aquarium. Kids of all ages are invited to dress up in costume.Unearth shark teeth in “Coffin Creek," enjoy deep sea delights in the “Diner of the Dead" and take part in Mad Science experiments and activities. October 22 - 26, 2018: If you weren’t already nervous about visiting the hospital, “Health Scare Center” may push you over the edge. The SCF Venice Pop Culture Club Hosts its 11th Annual Haunted House. The Pavilion will be transformed to various hospital rooms with operations of all sorts. Parents should be aware that even though there is not an age recommendation for the haunted house, it may not be appropriate for younger children. Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 (cash only). A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC), a nonprofit agency in Sarasota that serves victims of domestic and sexual violence and promotes a violence-free community through awareness and education. October 24, 2018: Dare to explore Historic Spanish Point in the moonlight on their Full Moon walking ghost tour. Hear stories of intrigue and mystery about Sarasota and Florida history as you visit the historic houses, prehistoric burial mound and pioneer cemetery of Historic Spanish Point. Tours start at the Gazebo, and are 1.5 hours in length. 7 p.m, 8 p.m. 9 p.m. $20 per person. Historic Spanish Point, 337 N. Tamiami Tr., Osprey, FL. Tickets here.

October 26, 2018: It's the 13th Annual Boo Fest Halloween Festival at Lakewood Ranch. The fest will be featuring Trick or Treating, the Spooktacular Maze, a spooky balloon artist, local dancers, music and more. Dress in costume for the Halloween Costume Contest and bring your trick or treat bag. Fun for kids of all ages. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Admission is Free. October 26, 2018: It's the 18th Annual Clancy's Halloween Party and Costume Contest. Last (2017) year there was $500 in cash and prizes for best costume in the categories: Scariest, Funniest, Sexiest, Most Original and Best Dressed Couple. October 26 - 27, 2018: Take in the 6th Annual Haunted Trails of Oscar Scherer State Park if you dare!  A spooky haunted trail and haunted house for those who dare to be scared, a trick-or-treat trail for the younger or more cautious! Lots of activities for kids, costume contests, food, spooky sounds and more! A frightfully fun time for the howl family! Adults 13+ $10. Kids 6 - 12 $5, age 4 and under are free. 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m., Oscar Scherer State Park, Rt 41, Osprey. Limited amount of tickets available beginning Labor Day 2018 at www.osspevent.com. October 27, 2018: The 15th Annual Boo Run is a family oriented 5K run with a costume contest and awards. With over 1,200 runners and spectators expected, the race begins at 8:30 a.m. with a Boo Dash Kids Race at 7:45 a.m. All runners will receive a bib, t-shirt and a treat bag at registration. Costumes will be judged in these categories: Best Couple, Most Creative, Most Funny, Best Male/Female Kids Under 10. October 27, 2018: Hit a howl-in-one at the 3rd annual Tee Time for Tots, a Halloween-themed, family-friendly, mini golf fundraiser benefiting the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County. From toddlers and tweens to baby boomers and beyond, this benefit will have something for everyone. In addition to trick or treating at every hole, Tee Time for Tots will feature face-painting, a caricature artist, fun Halloween-themed games and more. Enjoy story time on a quilt under large oaks trees. Costumes are optional but will be a costume contest with prizes for all ages. Don't forget to check out their boo-tiful raffle baskets too! Each ticket includes one round of miniature golf, a slice of pizza and a beverage. All proceeds go toward childcare scholarships for children, under the age of 5, whose families qualify as low income. Online player registration (preferred) is requested by October 20, 2018. October 27, 2018: The Bradenton Farmers’ Market is hosting Howl’ween, a pet costume contest and parade on Old Main Street. Watch as lines of pooches strut down Old Main Street in Halloween costumes with their owners. Owners are encouraged to dress up too! There will be a special prize for best owner and pet costumes. Sign up is 10 a.m.; pet parade at 10:30 a.m.; judging at 11 a.m. 
The market, located on Old Main Street, between Manatee Ave. W. and Third Avenue West in downtown Bradenton, is open every Saturday through the end of May, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. (941) 621-6471

October 27, 2018: Get into the spirit as the Main Street Live Downtown Street Party kicks off its new season with a Halloween Party and costume contest and it takes place on Historic Old Main Street in Bradenton from 5 p.m. - 12  a.m. with live music throughout the night. October 27, 2018: Enjoy the Spooktacular Soiree with dining and dancing to live music from Sonny & Sable. Menu includes Witches Brew (PUmpkin Soup,) Wormy Shrimp Cocktail, Meat off the Bone, Garlic Broomsticks and more. Cocktails, cash bar and nibbles at 5:30 p.m., Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Live music & Dancing from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Members $22, Guest $25. October 27, 2018: The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime is holding "Boos at The Bazaar!" There will be Trick or Treating inside the Bazaar with over 20 stops. Kids in costume might even get an extra treat. Free activities include Cookie and Pumpkin Decorating, Halloween coloring books, and Music Compound Musical Craft/Lesson. Face Painting! Live Music Noon - 2 p.m. Grown Ups encouraged to dress up too. October 27 -  28, 2018: Have a roaring fun time and Celebrate Wild-O-Ween at the Big Cat Habitat! It's a Family Friendly, Non Scary Halloween event. Lots of fun including: Face Painting Fun, Hay Bale seek and Find, "Mommy" Wrapping contest, Kid's Costume Contest, Paint a Pumpkin and loads of yummy candy! 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Adults: $18.00, Kids ( 3-13) $8.00. October 28, 2018: Enjoy the Selby Gardens Spooktacular with the whole family. With fun and not too scary festivities, bring your camera for pictures of your costumed family! Trick or treating and pumpkin decorating, fun and educational activities like seed planting, as well as more frightening (but not too scary) options for older children like a mad scientist experiment center. October 28, 2018: The Italian American Club of Venice hosts a Children's Halloween Bash for kids 10 and under. Child must be accompanied by an adult. There will be food, fun, prizes and Treats, not Tricks!   1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Costumers ARE required. Compliments of The Italian American Club of Venice, 1375 Ringling Dr S, Venice, FL. October 31, 2018: It's the 34th Annual, Siesta Key “Safe Treats!” Bring your little ones to trick or treat and look for participating members displaying festive balloons. In addition to Siesta Key Village, the event has expanded to include merchants on South Siesta Key. Hop on the free, Siesta Breeze Trolley which makes a continuous loop between the Village and Turtle Beach, with multiple stops along the way. 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL. October 31, 2018: Take part in the Community Trick-or-Treat Stroll, perfect for families with small children. October 31, 2018: It's the 10th Annual Fright Night on St Armand's Circle for Halloween fun from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. There will be haunted store fronts, frightening characters around every corner and statues dressed in the Halloween spirit. Kids can trick-or-treat around The Circle with numerous shops and restaurants contributing to the Halloween spirit with customized promotions. A performance of "Thriller" will take place in collaboration with the Sarasota H.S. Drama Dept. about 8 p.m. St. Armand's Circle, St. Armand's Key, Sarasota, FL.
