October 1, 2025: The Phillippi Farmhouse Market is back and it features locally grown fruits and vegetables, including local USDA certified organic produce and hydroponics. There will be plants, herbs, hanging baskets, shrubs and cut flowers for sale along with a wide variety of locally baked goods, delicious barbecue, plenty of food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts, soaps and candles and always live music. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. every Wednesday, October through April. 5500 S. October 3, 2025: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Live music, beer, wine and food available. Tropical Ave will fill the air with top 40 dance and Latin Pop and the event will benefit Bring on the Ministry. The street is lined with food vendors, beer trucks, and sponsor booths, as well as rides and activities for the kids. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75. October 3, 2025:  Do you feel a slight change in the air? Kick off your Fall festivities with Season Five of Fresh Fridays! Season Five kicks off with a grand celebration you will not want to miss. October 3 -  November 1, 2025: You're invited “Lights at Spooky Point,” which features an array of fantastic creatures and cute creations designed with lights along an eerily lit path through the woods at the preserve and outdoor museum of Historic Spanish Point. Visitors to Lights at Spooky Point will journey along a hauntingly lit trail that winds through the wooded grounds and historic landmarks of the campus. Along the path, guests will encounter whimsical Halloween displays and imaginative light installations at every turn. Returning favorites include the spectral “ghost orchids” that hover above the Pioneer Graveyard, towering “Dracula orchids” draped in eerie Spanish moss, and vibrant “spider orchids” spun into glowing webs high in the trees. These stunning decorations are inspired by real-life plants bearing the same names—a playful nod to Selby Gardens’ botanical roots and horticultural mission. Guests also will find plenty of pumpkins, scores of skeletons, and other Halloween classics at “Spooky Point.” The show is designed for all ages, with just a few minor jump-scare opportunities to keep older kids happy. A limited number of tickets will be sold for each night of the show, with two entry times available—6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Guests with young children or mobility issues are encouraged to consider the earlier entry. Those who want the full “Spooky Point” experience can opt for the later slot, after dark. Ticket prices for Lights at Spooky Point are $34 for adults ($24 for Selby Gardens members), $19 for ages 5-17, and free for children 4 and under. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged, as some nights may sell out prior to opening time. Food and beverages will be sold on-site throughout each evening of the show. October 4, 2025:  It's the 20th Annual UF/IFAS Manatee County Fall Plant Sale. Bring beauty and diversity into your landscape with affordable, Florida-friendly plants grown locally by UF/IFAS Extension Manatee County Master Gardener Volunteers (MGV). Guests can get the best selection of plants and beat the rush with early bird tickets. Starting at $10 per person or $15 per family, the early-bird ticket allows access to the plant sale from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Regular entry begins at 9 a.m. and is free. Only cash or check will be accepted during the sale.  The annual MGV plant sale is a great opportunity for beginner gardeners to get started on their horticultural journey. October 4, 2025: It's the 5th Annual Taste of North Port Food & Fall Fest. This event will be held on the City of North Port’s Center Green right out front of City Hall and will feature local food vendors, arts and craft vendors, food trucks and more! October 4, 2025. Mark your calendar for Wellen Park’s 2nd Annual Oktoberfest celebration! This family-friendly event will have a traditional Oktoberfest atmosphere with German Dancers, a live polka band, a stein-hoisting competition, and more – and of course, plenty of beer, brats, and other traditional eats! A walk-through haunted house with live actors! Recommended for ages 8+ Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. October 10, 2025: It's Witches Night Out! Join SRQ County Parks for a positively enchanting evening! Join us for a bewitching evening at the historic (and haunted!) Edson Keith Mansion, nestled in the spooky Phillippi Estate Park. The third annual Witches Night Out will feature a live DJ, a photo booth, shopping with unique vendors, a cash bar and plenty of tasty morsels to enjoy. Dress in your best witch or wizard attire for our costume contest — let your creativity run wild! Tickets are limited, and this event is expected to sell out quickly. Get yours before they disappear! October 10 - 11, 2025: A ‘not-so-scary’ Symphonic Spooktacular,  Venice Symphony’s first concert of the season, returns to Venice featuring a harmonious collaboration of symphonic sounds and storytelling. Become entranced by Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho: A Short Suite for String Orchestra and travel to otherworldly dimensions with music from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and other mystical medleys as you enjoy a festive concert experience designed to delight both young and old to kick off their 2025-26 Season.  Venice Performing Arts Center, 1 Indian Ave building 5, Venice, FL.

October 10 - 12, 2025: The American Powerboat Association (APBA) World Championship will be the thrilling finale at Englewood Beach Waterfest. This will mark the 11th year of speedboat racing on Englewood Beach. Waterfest draws people far and wide, averaging an impressive 32,000 guests throughout the weekend. The APBA Championship is a three-race event with Waterfest holding the final race. On Friday October 10th, excitement will spark in the community with the Annual Block Party on historic Dearborn Street. Racing kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11 and continues through Sunday, October 12. The top three winners will be celebrated at the awards ceremony. October 11, 2025:  It's the 19th Annual Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Sale and EdFest. At this family-friendly event, choose from among hundreds of shrubs, trees, palms, annuals, herbs and other plant varieties identified as “Florida-friendly” by the University of Florida, and get gardening and landscaping advice from Extension-trained Master Gardener Volunteers. EdFest booths and demonstrations will highlight the array of programs and services offered through Extension, from gardening advice to youth development. October 11, 2025: The Jaguar Festival d’Elegance Returns to St. Armands Circle! It is the 39th Annual Festival d'Elegance on St. Armand's Key in St. Armand's Circle Park. October 11, 2025: Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting Cemetery Tours,” a free hour-long tour of the 1850 Manatee Burying Grounds led by a member of Manatee Village's staff. Tours cover different facets of life during Manatee's Founding Period (1840-1918) as well as stories of those buried in the burying grounds. Topics vary depending on the staff member leading the tour. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. All members of your party must be present to receive a wristband. October 11 - December 7, 2025:  Selby Gardens is excited to collaborate with British contemporary artist, Rebecca Louise Law, on The Orchid Show 2025 at the Downtown Sarasota campus. Exploring the theme of survival, the exhibition will feature an immersive art installation of dried flowers by Law in the Museum of Botany & the Arts. Accompanying Law’s installation will be a striking presentation of living orchids and other plants in the Display Conservatory, designed by Selby Gardens’ horticulture team. The spectacular results will blur the lines between art and nature in unexpected ways Selby Gardens is home to the finest scientifically documented collection of living orchids in the world. October 12, 2025: Check out Parktoberfest at The Bay. Celebrate Oktoberfest – The Bay style! Kick off October with a hoppy twist! No Deutsch required. The DeLeon Family Band returns to The Bay to perform traditional "oompah"-style and a range of other music. Make sure to be a part of the world-famous "Chicken Dance" tradition. Or, challenge those you know (or perhaps, those you don't know) to a mean game of cornhole. The Nest Café frigs will be stocked full of must-try German-inspired and locally crafted brews and will be serving tasty brats and soft pretzel sticks with beer cheese.  5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Free admission and free public parking is located along Blvd of Arts, Van Wezel way, in front of the Van Wezel, and in front of the Blue Pagoda (655 N Tamiami Trl, Sarasota). October 17, 2025: The 23rd annual Goblin Gathering is an event hosted by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources and held at GT Bray Park. This spooktacular outdoor event is family friendly and fun for all ages! Local businesses will be passing out “treats & sweets” to participants, providing a safe alternative for families to trick-or-treat. This year will also feature bounce houses, face painting, costume contests, petting zoo and magic! Costume contest sign up begins after 5 PM (judging begins at 7 PM). Food trucks will be on site to offer a BITE. Costume Contest: 1 year and under,  2 to 4 years old, 5 to 8 years old, 9 and older, Families. Three winners will be chosen for each category. October 18, 2025: The Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) is excited to continue its monthly open house events in 2025, inviting the community to connect with their local firefighters and learn about fire safety. These free, family-friendly open houses are held one Saturday each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Car seat safety inspections and bike helmet fittings will also be available. October 18, 2025: The Newtown Farmers Market in Sarasota hosts the 9th annual Big Mama's Collard Greens Fest. The fest is a celebration of community and culture, with influence from Cajun, Creole, Southern and Caribbean styles. The legendary "big mama" represents the best-tasting family collard greens recipes, some dating back more than 100 years. One of the highlights of the festival is the collard green cook-off, where local residents and restaurant chefs compete for the bragging rights title of “Big Mama” and a chance to win prizes. Competitors cook up batches of their best family collard recipes and submit them for a blind taste test by a judging panel selected by the event planning committee. October 21, 2023: TBA for 2025.  Check out some heavenly bodies during Sidewalk Astronomy courtesy of the local group of Deep Sky Observers as they return with their program. Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing starting at 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Weather permitting, the members of the Local Group will set up their high-quality telescopes in the parking lot at the southeastern corner of Sarasota's Celery Fields Park. Observing highlights will include the beautiful ringed planet Saturn, giant Jupiter (after about 9:00 p.m.) as well as extraordinary close-up views of the features on our own Moon. Other deep-sky objects, as well as a couple of additional planets will also be featured in the club member’s telescopes. The 37th annual Bill’s Beer Run (BBR) is a 5-mile road race that takes place Oct 26th on Casey Key, hosted each year by the Manasota Track Club (MTC). One of the area’s most in demand musicians Suggs is one of the finest trumpet players in the Bay area. He has performed critically acclaimed tribute shows to Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Harry James. His CD, You’re Gonna Hear From Me, was produced by Houston Person and features Lafayette Harris, Lewis Nash, Peter Washington, and Person on saxophone. October 27 - 31, 2024:TBA for 2025.   Prepare for a spine-chilling adventure at the 3rd Annual Haunted Fish Camp at Jiggs Landing! This year, the historic fish camp transforms into a haunted haven for five frightful nights. Haunted Fish Camp: Embark on a self-guided tour through the eerie grounds, where the ghost of Captain Fish Hook, a pirate lost for centuries, roams. Legend has it that his crew abandoned him in near Tampa Bay, and later he met his end at the hands of an evil fisherman at Jiggs Landing. Graveyard Walk: Stroll through the haunted walkway and encounter the graveyard of former residents. Beware, as the ghost of Jiggs himself is known to make an appearance every Halloween! Spooky Pavilion: Watch out for other scary creatures lurking in the pavilion and along the raised walkway. Kid’s Play Area: Even the little ones will get a thrill with a giant wolf spider on a web in the play area. Halloween Tales & S’mores: Gather around the fire to hear tales of Halloween from the 1940s and enjoy delicious s’mores under the night sky.
