October 1, 2020: Postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. Get groovin' in the courtyard at Ringling Underground where you can enjoy live music in the Museum of Art Courtyard. October 2, 2020: Postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Live music, beer, wine and food available. Live music and the deejay will keep you dancing with today’s Top 100 hits. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. October 3 - 4, 2020: Canceled. are the dates for this year's 26th Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Festival. Held in downtown Sarasota at Orange and Main Street, this is one of the more popular annual two day events on my Sarasota Calendar of Events and features everything from paintings to woodwork. October 3 - 4, 2020: The 32nd Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest features hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, mini train rides, a petting zoo and more. Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. Admission, Parking, Petting zoo, playground, live music, and decorated photo spots are FREE! Individual ride and game activity booth, including pony rides, unicorn encounter, hug a goat and pumpkin painting, has their own set price ranging from $1 – $7. October 4, 2020: TBD for 2020. All Sarasota Ski-A-Rees are currently on hold. You can enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. October 4, 2019: Canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19. Is your dog the Top Dog? Check out the 2019 Top Dog Show, "Doggies Do Disco." It's a Westminster type dog show. Dinner, dancing, dog competitions and lots of surprises.The theme is Doggies Do Disco, so wear your Disco dancing clothes. $125.00. October 5, 2019: TBA for 2020. Check out some heavenly bodies during Sidewalk Astronomy courtesy of the local group of Deep Sky Observers. Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing from sunset. - 10 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (weather permitting). October 5, 2019: TBD for 2020. As long as the capacity regulation remains at 50%, they have decided against holding the event. Oompa! Enjoy and take part in the MGB 5th Annual Oktoberfest. Come dressed in your best dirndl or lederhosen and as always you get to keep your liter stein with your purchase of your favorite German beer. October 5 - November 30, 2019: For the second year in a row a Hay Maze for little kids has been built to help celebrate the Halloween and Thanksgiving season. There are 420 bales of hay going into the maze, which will be 42 feet wide and 54 feet long, twice as big as last year’s maze. Location: adjacent to the Ronald A. Balducci Playground and Event Garden on Nathan Benderson Park's north end. The playground is at the corner of World Championship Drive and North Cattlemen Road. Free. It's time for the Old Miakka Fall Hootenanny which will feature paintings from local artists, local honey, crafts, live music, jewelry, homemade candles, children's games, book signings by local authors and more. October 7, 2020: The Phillippi Farmhouse Market is back and it features locally grown fruits and vegetables, including local USDA certified organic produce and hydroponics. There will be plants, herbs, hanging baskets, shrubs and cut flowers for sale along with a wide variety of locally baked goods, delicious barbecue, plenty of food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts, soaps and candles and always live music. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. every Wednesday, October through April. 5500 S. October 9, 2020: Put on your lederhosen because it's Oktoberfest Beer Walk in downtown Venice from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m..Attendees will receive a small sampling stein and get to sample a variety of brews in 3-ounce tastings, as they follow a map of beer-tasting locations.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance online at www.visitvenicefl.org; at the Venice MainStreet office at 101 W. Venice Ave., Suite 23; or purchased the day of the event at 5:00pm at the kiosk in Centennial Park. Attendees will be able to pick up their stein and map at the kiosk at 5:00 p.m. when the event begins.

October 10, 2020: Postponed until spring due to COVID-19. The 14th Annual UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County Master Gardener Plant Sale offers visitors the chance to purchase beautiful plants and consult with Master Gardener volunteers on plant selection, gardening tips, and other plant and pest questions. October 10, 2020: Sun Coast Jaguar Club of Florida is hosting the 35th Annual Concours d'Elegance on St. Armands Key. This is a JCNA Sanctioned event and is open to all vintage thru modern Jaguar cars. Cars may be entered in non-judged or judged classes, $35 - $55. October 10, 2020: Sarasota County has elected not to hold this event in 2020.The Orioles invite families to wear their favorite Halloween costumes for the fifth annual Howl-O-Ween Movie Night Spooktacular which includes children's games, activities and photo opportunities with the Oriole Bird beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a free evening of fun including a family-friendly movie. At 7:00 p.m. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (rated PG) will be screened on the outfield video board. Guests may choose any seat in the ballpark to enjoy the movie. Ongoing ball field renovations will prevent on-field access. Parking and admission are free. Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for All Faith's Food Bank. OneBlood will conduct blood donations, and donors will receive a free, Halloween-themed T-shirt and a movie ticket voucher. Concessions will be available for purchase. October 10 to November 29, 2020: It's The 45th Anniversary Orchid Show at Selby Gardens, honoring founder Marie Selby and the many notable women who have built on her legacy. The Orchid Show will combine a spectacular display of living orchids in the Tropical Conservatory with an impressive exhibition of orchid treasures from Selby Gardens’ library and preserved collections in the Museum of Botany and the Arts. An additional orchid display will be included at Selby Gardens’ companion campus at Historic Spanish Point. October 11, 2019: The Jazz Club has not scheduled any events for the 2020 fall season. Get your toes tapping at "Jazz at Two" as Al Hixon opens the 2019 - 20 Jazz at Two season with a jam session. Al Hixon invited a number of artists to perform with his trio in a jam session to open the Jazz at Two concert series. A Jazz Club favorite, he performs regularly at Jazz at Two and for the annual Jazz Trolley night. October 16 - November 1, 2020: Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting “Tombstone Tour,” a digital event about the 1850 Manatee Burying Ground. Learn about the history of the cemetery, the meaning of tombstone symbols, and listen to some of the stories of those who were buried there. The 1850 Manatee Burying Ground is the oldest public cemetery in Manatee County. This event is digital and will be sent to the email addresses of those who sign up to receive the digital event. October 17, 2020: It's the 2020 Great American Cleanup!  Keep Sarasota County Beautiful has been granted approval to resume cleanup activities. They will be hosting a "Postponed" Great American Cleanup as KSCB has partnered with Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources and Libraries and Historical Resources departments to offer new activities to enhance the environmental health and beauty of Sarasota County. In addition to traditional litter removal, there are opportunities to help with other special projects including invasive removal and gardening maintenance at various locations and water based litter removal by kayak. All volunteers MUST individually pre-register to participate by submitting a unique registration form. October 17, 2020: It's the “Fish For United Way” tournament benefiting the region’s United Ways and hosted by Florida Power and Light Company. Anglers can cast their lines in the 4,000-acre cooling reservoir, also known as Lake Parrish, that serves the FPL Plant. Home to bass, crappies and catfish, the reservoir is a delight for anglers, who pay $300 per boat (includes 3 anglers, $50 each additional angler), to participate in one of the open tournament days. The reservoir is normally closed to the public, but opens three times a year for the fishing tournament which benefits the surrounding communities. Various payouts-prizes. Tournament is limited to 50 boats. All of the money raised is shared by United Way of South Sarasota County, United Way Suncoast and United Way of Manatee County. October 17 - 18, 2020: The Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo is hosting the 7th Annual Arcadia Fall PRCA Rodeo featuring the baddest bulls and broncs this side of the Mississippi along with all of the timed events everyone knows and loves!  Quadrille will perform at 1:00 p.m. Mutton Bustin for ages 4 - 6 at 1:30 p.m. The Rodeo action begins at 2:00 p.m. Rain or Shine! October 18, 2019: TBD. No info available at this time. Get ready for an  “Eerie Evening” of stories as you walk among Historic Spanish Point’s historic houses, ancient mounds, and their pioneer cemetery. This exclusive October-only event features  paranormal investigations by the Paranormal Society of Bradenton. There will be three tours each evening. October 19, 2019: The Newtown Farmers Market in Sarasota hosts the 4th annual Big Mama's Collard Greens Fest. The fest is a celebration of community and culture, with influence from Cajun, Creole, Southern and Caribbean styles. October 20, 2019: Canceled for 2020. It's the 10th Annual Tour de North Port Bicycle Ride. This year's theme is "It's The Green Pumpkin!" It's not a race but different courses in and around the streets of North Port. There are 15, 35, and 65 mile routes that highlight North Port’s most natural settings and the parks that border the Myakkahatchee Creek with each route having its own color-coded road markings. Catered breakfast by First Watch Cafe, catered lunch, desserts that include homemade pies and rest stops that feature homemade snacks. The night begins with "Trunk or Treat," which is like 'Trick or Treating' from car-to-car, presented by the SCF Circle K Club.
