October 1, 2021: Canceled for 2021 TFN. Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Live music, beer, wine and food available. Live music and the deejay will keep you dancing with today’s Top 100 hits. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. October 1 - 3, 2021: The Dragon Boat Nationals are coming. Join them at Nathan Benderson Park as about 1,500 athletes and over 80 dragon boat clubs from across the country compete to determine which club teams will earn a trip to the International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championships, which will also be held at NBP next summer! It's the U.S. Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew National Championships! Admission is FREE for spectators, and there will be a beer garden, food concessions and vendors on-site. October 1 - November 19, 2021: The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is pleased to announce the opening of Ringling Re-imagined in the Community Gallery. This special exhibition highlights artwork by local children who were inspired by works of art in the museum's collection. The Ringling’s Community Gallery is always free and open to the public. The public exhibition space is located on the ground floor of the museum’s Chao Center for Asian Art. Those wishing

October 2, 2021: Oompa! Enjoy and take part in the Annual MBG Oktoberfest. Come dressed in your best dirndl or lederhosen. They will have 6 German beers on tap for the event and they'll have the original German Polka band that they've had in years past playing on site from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.  The event runs all day 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Mandeville Beer Garden, 428 N Lemon Ave, Sarasota, FL

October 2, 2021: The Knights of Columbus host their Oktoberfest with a German Buffet, Beer, Music & Dancing, Games, a Kids area, plus a stein auction, costume contest and more. October 2 - 3, 2021: It's the 26th Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Festival. Held in downtown Sarasota at Orange and Main Street.  A variety of jewelry, pottery, ceramics, photography, painting, clothing and much more. An expansive Green Market with plants, orchids, exotic flora, handmade soaps, gourmet spices and freshly popped kettle corn further compliments the weekend. October 2 - 3, 2021: The 33rd Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest features hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, mini train rides, a petting zoo and more. Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. Admission, Parking, Petting zoo, playground, live music, and decorated photo spots are FREE! Individual rides and game activity booth, including pony rides, unicorn encounter, hug a goat and pumpkin painting, has their own set price ranging from $1 – $10. October 3, 2021: It's time for the Old Miakka Fall Hootenanny which will feature Silent Auction, Vendor Booths, Family Fun and more. It benefits the restoration of the old school house. One of the musical acts will be The Dunn Deal. October 3, 2021: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. Free. 388-1666.

October 6, 2021: The Phillippi Farmhouse Market is back and it features locally grown fruits and vegetables, including local USDA certified organic produce and hydroponics. There will be plants, herbs, hanging baskets, shrubs and cut flowers for sale along with a wide variety of locally baked goods, delicious barbecue, plenty of food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts, soaps and candles and always live music. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. every Wednesday, October through April. 5500 S. October 6 - 10, 2021: Celebrate Oktoberfest at Edelweiss in Bradenton with a large, open air beer tent with seating and live entertainment with German music & Schuplattler dancers, Oktoberfest food, contests & prizes and German beer. Come eat, drink, schunkel, and yodel! Wednesday the 6th they kick off Oktoberfest with a keg tapping ceremony at 5 p.m. There will be daily contests, prizes and giveaways along with German entertainment on stage under the open air beer tent. October 7, 2021: Check out Ringling Underground with local and regional live music in the museum courtyard while up and coming artists showcase their works also in the museum courtyard. 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. Admission: $15. October 8, 2021: It's The Fore the Environment Charity Golf Tournament 2021, their 26th annual Keep Manatee Beautiful golf tournament. Join them for a fun day of golf and help the community at the same time. It's a win/win for all involved. 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fees for this four-person best ball scramble include greens fee, cart, range balls, team photo, goody bag, continental breakfast, a lunch buffet, and awards ceremony. October 8, 2021: It's the Free Music Friday Night Concert featuring Nick and Donny. Enjoy the music and fun in downtown's Centennial Park. Free and open to the public. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chair or blanket for seating. COVID-19 safety plan is in place! Family and friend groups are asked to limit to 6 people sitting together, to remain socially distanced from other seated groups, and to follow current CDC guidelines. Masks recommended. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. No alcohol is permitted in Centennial Park. Venice Ave., downtown Venice, FL.

October 8 - November 26, 2021: For the 4th year in a row the annual Autumn Hay Maze returns to the playground/event garden area at Nathan Benderson Park. Construction will be the morning of Oct. 8. Last year’s maze was about 40’x50’, and hundreds of area youths (and their parents) enjoyed the two-bale-high maze — tall enough for toddlers but short enough for them and their parents, too. October 9, 2020: TBD for 2021. Put on your lederhosen because it's Oktoberfest Beer Walk in downtown Venice from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m..Attendees will receive a small sampling stein and get to sample a variety of brews in 3-ounce tastings, as they follow a map of beer-tasting locations.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance online at www.visitvenicefl.org; at the Venice MainStreet office at 101 W. Venice Ave., Suite 23; or purchased the day of the event at 5:00pm at the kiosk in Centennial Park. Attendees will be able to pick up their stein and map at the kiosk at 5:00 p.m. when the event begins.

October 9, 2021: The 15th Annual UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County Master Gardener Plant Sale offers visitors the chance to purchase beautiful plants and consult with Master Gardener volunteers on plant selection, gardening tips, and other plant and pest questions. October 9, 2021:  Sun Coast Jaguar Club of Florida is hosting the 35th Annual Festival d'Elegance on St. Armand's Key in St. Armand's Circle Park. All Jaguar Vehicles are welcome to participate. The event is free and open to the public. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. St. Armand's Circle, Sarasota, FL. 

October 9, 2021: It's NBP Rec Days! A great way to get on the water, family-style! Participants will have the opportunity to try stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoes, fishing and more. Fee is $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger  Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more). All must complete the waiver forms.  Fishing licenses are required for all participants 14 and older who choose to fish. NBP Rec Days! are held at the base of the finish tower on Regatta Island. Depending on events, however, they may move to the west shore, near the playground. October 9, 2021: Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting “Tombstone Tour,” a free, staff-led tour of the historic cemetery. Learn about the history of the cemetery, the meaning of tombstone symbols, and listen to some of the stories of those who were buried there.The 1850 Manatee Burying Ground is the oldest public cemetery in Manatee County. Each staff member will be giving a unique tour and the public will be able to reserve spots in advance. During the hour-long tour, guests will explore different facets of Manatee County’s history while being guided by a staff member. These tours will be available at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. Tours are FREE but space is limited to 15 people. Reservations are not required but are encouraged as availability of space on the day of the tours is not guaranteed. Reservations can be made online here or over the phone at (941) 749-7165. October 9, 2021: It's Public Safety Awareness Day at CoolToday Park. There will be a number of live demonstrations, educational material and the community’s first responders will be on hand to answers questions. They'll have on display the FHP Crash Rollover Simulator, HAZMAT Unit, Special Ops Unit, Blood Mobile and the Forestry Service plus MEDIVAC Tours, Vehicle Extraction Demonstrations, Live Fire Burn Demonstrations and Repelling Demonstrations. October 9, 2021: It's Donte's Den Top Dog 2021, The Crystal Ball." It's a one of a kind dog show where you can meet other dog lovers and enjoy your day while also showing your love and support. October 9 - November 28, 2021:  It's The 46th Anniversary Orchid Show at Selby Gardens, brings together two of Sarasota, Florida’s most renowned legacies —orchids and the circus. Presented in collaboration with the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (The Ringling), The Orchid Show 2021: Aerialists from the Tree Top to the Big Top!, is presented by Better-Gro®, celebrates the breathtaking beauty of orchids in tree-top canopies high above the forest floor with the artistry and spectacle of the circus, particularly the aerialists who perform extraordinary feats of human ability high above captivated crowds. Pairing astonishing air plants with amazing aerial acts enables a fascinating exploration of the intersection of nature and entertainment. October 14, 2021: State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota's (SCF) performing arts season is underway with "Welcome to Our Carnival," presented by the SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra. The audience is invited to step right up and experience a different kind of carnival featuring Hector Berlioz's "Roman Carnival Overture," the famous trumpet solo "Carnival of Venice" with guest soloist Brandon Ridenour, and Camille Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals." Masks are strongly encouraged on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual. October 15, 2021: It's the Season Kick Off Party at The Ringling! It's the Noche Cubano Dance Party, featuring internationally acclaimed Afro-Cuban artist, Cimafunk. Get funky in the Museum of Art Courtyard. The evening will kick-off with D.J. Edgar and salsa dance lessons provided by D.K. Studio. Cuban food from local restaurants and custom-crafted rum drinks will be available for purchase. Your chance to win an incredible prize package that celebrates all things Ringling! Excitement includes delectable smoked sausages, roasted meats, sauerkraut, cabbage, pretzels and of course, big, big pints of beer! Men get ready to slap your feet and ladies twirl while enjoying authentic German music. October 15 - 17, 2021: You're invited to The annual Sun Fiesta! Events begin Friday evening and continue all day Saturday and Sunday. Funny Bed Races, a Parade and the Miss Sun Fiesta Pageant culminating in a young woman being selected to win a $1,000 scholarship. October 16, 2021: The Newtown Farmers Market in Sarasota hosts the 4th annual Big Mama's Collard Greens Fest. The fest is a celebration of community and culture, with influence from Cajun, Creole, Southern and Caribbean styles. The legendary "big mama" represents the best-tasting family collard greens recipes, some dating back more than 100 years. In addition, chefs from major restaurants in Sarasota and Manatee counties and the Tampa Bay area will showcase their collard greens and specialty foods. Entertainment will highlight local talent! A family-friendly, no-alcohol event. Food will be available for purchase from multiple food vendors. October 16 - 17, 2021: The Global Friendship Foundation(GFF) invites you to the 15th Annual Hungarian Festival. October 16  - 17, 2021:Take a trip down to Charlotte County for the Florida International Air Show at the Punta Gorda Airport. October 16 - 17, 2021: Get into the 30th Annual Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival featuring fun for all including craft booths, live music, pioneer trades village, scarecrow displays, charity pumpkin games, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, frog jumping championships, kids train ride, fresh roasted sweet corn, rock climbing wall, face painting and more. October 17, 2021: Postponed until 2022 as registration for the 2022 event will open in February 2022. It's the Great American Cleanup Keep Sarasota County Beautiful has been granted approval to resume cleanup activities. They will be hosting a "Postponed" Great American Cleanup as KSCB has partnered with Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources and Libraries and Historical Resources departments to offer new activities to enhance the environmental health and beauty of Sarasota County. In addition to traditional litter removal, there are opportunities to help with other special projects including invasive removal and gardening maintenance at various locations and water based litter removal by kayak. All volunteers MUST individually pre-register to participate by submitting a unique registration form. Currently Lido Beach, Siesta Main Beach and Siesta Key Accesses 5-9 are at full capacity and no longer accepting new volunteers. October 23, 2021: Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting “Tombstone Tour,” a free, staff-led tour of the historic cemetery. Learn about the history of the cemetery, the meaning of tombstone symbols, and listen to some of the stories of those who were buried there.The 1850 Manatee Burying Ground is the oldest public cemetery in Manatee County. Each staff member will be giving a unique tour and the public will be able to reserve spots in advance. During the hour-long tour, guests will explore different facets of Manatee County’s history while being guided by a staff member. October 29 - 31, 2021: They have decided not to host the Drive through for 2021 but are hoping to do it again next year. This Halloween, local artists Dave Gordon and Elln Hagney, will transform the cul-de-sac in front of their home into a free family-friendly drive-through Halloween experience titled Halloween on S. Lime Ave! Over fourteen separate technology-art-based Halloween scenes will feature: Projection mapped experiences, Custom created animatronics, Kinetic sculptures, Lighting, Special effects, Sound effects and more. Highlights include three projection mapped experiences, fire breathing pumpkins, glowing spider eggs, robots, flying ghosts and more. There are also swamp monsters engaged in an epic battle with pumpkin men and a ghoul’s garden filled with light up skull flowers, oversized mushrooms and a creepy caterpillar smoking a hookah. They also invite you to help them create their Western Style Cemetery. For a $25.00 contribution, participants can provide a funny name or the name of someone they know and the artists will add it to a new stone in the graveyard. Scores of chalk artists from all over will create artwork using the pavement of the Venice Airport Festival Grounds as their canvas, the theme being 'Spirited Festivities' over Halloween weekend. October 30, 2021: The pet costume contest is not taking place in 2021. The Bradenton Farmers’ Market is hosting Howl’ween, a pet costume contest and parade on Old Main Street. Watch as lines of pooches strut down Old Main Street in Halloween costumes with their owners. Owners are encouraged to dress up too! There will be a special prize for best owner and pet costumes. October 30, 2021: For the 37th year Siesta Key will host the “Safe Treats.” This FREE event provides a safe venue for children to trick-or-treat and is a fun afternoon for the entire family. The event includes merchants in Siesta Village and on South Siesta Key. Bring your little ones to trick or treat and look for participating members displaying  festive balloons. October 31, 2021: It's the 31st Anniversary Bill's Beer Run Marathon. The 5-mile, fund-raising run named after Bill Menard, takes place on Casey Key and the field is limited to 750 runners. Register early because it fills up fast. This longstanding Manasota Track Club event sells out in just a matter of hours and is limited to current MTC members.
