January 1, 2022: Take part in The First Day Hike and Scavenger Hunt at Oscar Scherer State Park. Hidden among six trails will be concealed signs for you to find. January 1, 2022: Clancy's Irish Pub in Bradenton sponsors their 14th Annual Shamrock Shiver Charity Plunge with volunteers braving the chilly Gulf of Mexico waters of Bradenton Beach to raise donations for Caring for Children Charities to help disadvantaged children of Manatee & Sarasota Counties. The challenge takes place at noon on Bradenton Beach at Gulf Drive between 4th Street South and 12th Street South, Anna Maria Island, FL. All participants will be socially distanced to ensure the health and safety of our community. 100% of the proceeds will fund The Blessing Bags Project, Feeding Empty Little Tummies, Healthy Teens Coalition of Manatee County, Inc., and Nutrition Initiative Manatee, all 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations. January 3, 2022: It's Monday Night Jazz at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret with the Whitney James Quartet. Jazz at the FST John C. Court Cabaret features vocalist Whitney James with Alejandro Arenas, bass; LaRue  Nickelson, guitar and Mark Feinman. James sense of time and pacing make her a consummate musician’s  singer; she knows how to work with a band. When she approaches a melody and a lyric, she finds a new way to  phrase them, shape them, highlight a word or a few notes that shade the meaning and make the music richer. January 4, 2020: Moved to March 19, 2022. Honk horns and explore all sized trucks at Touch a Truck live and in person for kids ages 10 and under! A fun, free family event, enabling kids to touch, sit in and explore a wide range of trucks. Free. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Manatee County Public Library.

January 4, 2021: TBA for 2022. Check out some heavenly bodies during Sidewalk Astronomy courtesy of the local group of Deep Sky Observers. Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing from sunset. - 10 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Robinson Preserve, 10299 9th Avenue NW, Bradenton (Use the park entrance on 9th Avenue NW , just west of 99th Street West in Bradenton.).

January 5, 2022: It's a free concert with live music with the Gentlemen of Jazz, which recreates the New Orleans Preservation Hall style of jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This free concert take place every Wednesday through April 6, 2022 in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

January 6 - 8, 2022: It's the 9th Annual Shake, Rattle & Soul Fest with A Tribute to the music that shakes you, rattles you and moves your soul! This year’s Shake, Rattle and Soul Fest will feature tributes to Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Little Richard, Rod Stewart and James Brown. It's all on the weekend of Elvis’ birthday with the Saturday night showing being a big Elvis Birthday Bash followed by a Birthday Party After hours! January 7, 2022: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with the Dan Miller and Lew Del Gatto Quartet. Internationally renowned artists, Dan Miller, trumpet and Lew Del Gatto, tenor sax headline this event with bassist Brandon Robertson and Tony Vigilante on drums. The quartet features jazz standards and music from the American songbook. Admission at the door, $10 - $20. January 7, 2022: Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources is hosting another food truck rally at North Jetty Park! Come out for this free family friendly event. January 7, 2022: Dance along to the Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch with The Derek Lersch Band which will fill the air with high energy rockin’ country music from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Beer, wine and food. Check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting and other fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. January 7, 2022: Enjoy the once monthly series "Fresh Fridays" in downtown Sarasota. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger. Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more) All must complete the waiver form. January 8 - 30, 2022: The Rain forest Masks of Costa Rica exhibition highlights the artistry of the Indigenous Boruca tribe of Costa Rica. For the 18th consecutive year, the Museum of Botany & the Arts will showcase hundreds of beautiful hand-carved and painted balsa wood masks featuring the stunning flora and fauna of the tropical rain forest. Proceeds from mask sales support the Borucan village and also benefit Selby Gardens' education, research, horticulture, and scientific work. January 10, 2021:The Circus Ring of Fame Foundation announced the postponement of its annual induction ceremony to the first quarter of 2022.   It's a celebration of circus history and heritage as The 33rd Annual Circus Ring of Fame induction ceremony takes place in St. Armand's Circle Park. There (usually) will be a live concert performance of circus music with a 60 piece band prior to the induction ceremony at 2 p.m. 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Here's more on the ceremonies and the Circus Ring of Fame.

January 10, 2020: TBA for 2022. It's the Moon Over Myakka Concert Series 2020 at the South Pavilion with the music of Maiden Cane. 7 p.m. Bring a chair and a picnic! Events take place in Sarasota County, Manatee County and the City of North Port. There are16 events: 5K Road Race, Bag Toss (Corn Hole), Basketball Shooting, Bocce Ball, Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Pickleball, RaceWalk/Power Walk, Racquetball, Rowing an Paddle, Shuffleboard, Swimming, Table Tennis, Target Shooting, Track and Field. January 12, 2021: TBA/No new info for 2022. UPDATE: The Annual Ringling Bridge Run, usually held each year in January was first tentatively moved to March for 2020 in the hopes of being able to continue the run. Unfortunately due to complications, we assume, from the change over at the Sarasota YMCA in 2019, they are not able to hold the Bridge Run in 2020. Stay tuned for next year. January 12 - May 11, 2022: Enjoy the Bayfront Gardens at The Ringling for Acoustic Sunsets with a solo musician on Ca' d'Zan Terrace! This event will feature a solo or duo musical group performing acoustic music as the sun sets on beautiful Sarasota Bay. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Tables will be set up on the terrace to allow for social distancing. $10 Members. Tickets will be available 30 days prior to each event. In the case that there are tickets still available one week prior to each event, members will be able to purchase up to 4 guest tickets for $15 each. January 13 - 17, 2022: It's the official 4th annual winter carnival at The Mall at University Town Center.The carnival includes 5 days of games, rides, amusements, festival foods, and tons of family-friendly fun. Plus food trucks, craft beer sampling and more. Entry into the Dreamland Amusements carnival is free for the whole family all 5 days, however, adults and children must purchase ride tickets, or wristbands to participate in the rides. Entry into the Sarasota Beer & Burger Festival on Saturday, Jan 15th is $15 per adult, and kids under 18 years old may enter for free. January 13 - 23, 2022: It's not peanuts and crackerjack, but cotton candy and elephant ears at The Annual Manatee County Fair taking place at the Manatee County Fairgrounds,  General admission: $10 for ages 13 and older, $6 for daily military, $6 for kids 6-12, free for ages 5 and under. January 14 - 16, 2022:  Because of expected weather conditions, the operators of The Big Bounce America have advised that they're pushing back their Sunday schedule to MONDAY from 9 a.m.-6 p.m, with the exception of Sunday's adult session 6-9 p.m., which will remain at its scheduled time. January 15, 2022: NBP Paddling Program will play host to FREE 'New Paddler Day.' Come try out paddling with no strings attached. The NBP Paddling Program uses dragon boats, outrigger canoes, kayaks and more. Whether you're interested in recreational paddling or you want to be competitive, there's a place for you. Paddlers all train as one big family, but on race days, divide up into their teams — the community NBP Dragons team, the NBP Survivors In Sync breast-cancer-survivor team, the NBP Veterans and the NBP Dragons all-cancer-survivors team. They provide the life jackets and paddles, so bring your sense of adventure and teamwork. January 15, 2022: It's the 3rd Annual Sarasota Beer & Burger Festival. This family-friendly, live, in-person event includes at least a dozen Burger Artisans, Craft Brewers with in-person sampling, and 4 live music performances, plus sponsored giveaways, shop local market, and a 5-day Full Carnival with fun for all by Dreamland Amusements. Located in Parking Lot 4 (East Grand Entrance) of The Mall at University Town Center. January 15 - 16, 2022: The Venice-Nokomis Rotary's 30th Annual Fine Art & Craft Festival features talented artists and craftspeople. The thousands of attendees enjoy the array of over 80 talented artists, antique/classic automobiles, live music, family fun, good food and drink, beer & wine. Live music features Jah Movement, Mike Imbasciani & His BluesRockerz, Ken McBride and the Cry'n Shames. Proceeds benefit local non-profit organziations. January 15 - April 10, 2022: Sarasota's Bayfront Park has been the backdrop for Embracing Our Differences' colorful, larger-than-life canvases integrating powerful imagery and thought-provoking messages celebrating diversity. The scale and impact of this outdoor exhibition has continued to grow, attracting over two million visitors since its inception. In 2021 there were entries from 128 countries and 48 states. January 15 - February 18, 2022: The Pittsburgh Pirates are accepting auditions for the American and Canadian National Anthems.  Anyone interested in singing The Star Spangled Banner or O Canada prior to a Pirates Spring Training game in 2022 may submit a video    or a YouTube link to be considered. Prospective singers must feel comfortable performing in front of a camera and performing in front of audiences of 7,000 people or more. Submissions are also open to choirs.All submissions must be conducted a cappella. January 16, 2022: Calling all young buccaneers! Family Day will return to St. Armands Circle for an afternoon of various activities spread throughout the Circle. Enjoy a pirate themed treasure hunt for the kids. As you make your way around the Circle you can collect different coins and gems which can be turned in for prizes upon completion. The Pittsburgh Pirates, this year, are inviting Manatee School District bands, choirs and orchestras to submit a video for a virtual audition. The Pirates will select a video to be played on their video board before each spring training home game. The video and audio must be high quality in order to be considered. January 18, 2020: TBA for 2022. It's St. Armands Circle's 10th annual Taste of St. Armands Proudly showcasing their outstanding St. Armands Circle restaurants as they share a sampling of some of their delicious recipes. From continental cuisine to seafood, Italian to Irish, Spanish to Cuban and a little taste of Floribian thrown in for good measure. Over 18 restaurants are participating in the beautiful setting of St. Armands Circle Park, along with noteworthy wineries and microbreweries or maybe you’d like to try this year’s Taste of St. Armands specialty drink. Musical sounds will fill the air and set the mood for an evening of fine food, libations and perhaps…a little dancing. There will be a Silent Auction and fundraising activities to benefit a local charityy and St. Armands Circle Association. January 21 - 23, 2022: The 2022 Sarasota National Stamp Expo will be held live. See historic stamps during the Sarasota Philatelic Club's Sarasota National Stamp Exhibition. It is planned that the show will feature a full complement of dealers along with philatelic and literature exhibits. January 23, 2022: It's a Sarasota Orchestra Parks and Partners Children's Performance as The Sarasota Wind Quintet will perform a variety of kid-friendly music from a spot within the Ronald A. Balducci Playground. Music includes "Flight Of The Bumblebee," variations on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," "Five Easy Dances" and more. January 23 - April 24, 2022: This concert season, Sarasota Orchestra expands its community engagement tour known as “SO on the Road” to bring live music into local parks and cultural destinations. If you don't mind a short drive the downtown streets of Tampa host the Annual Gasparilla Festival from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. The Gasparilla Invasion is from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. complete with the annual re-enecatment of Tampa's historic pirate invasion at the Tampa Convention Center at 1 p.m. The invasion is free to the public. The Gasparilla Parade Of Pirates is from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. and begins at Bay to Bay and Bayshore Boulevard. It continues along Bayshore Boulevard to Brorein Street, turns east on Brorein Street, then north on Ashley Drive. The parade ends at Cass Street & Ashley Drive. An expanded Pirate Fest in 2022 will feature stages along the Riverwalk in downtown Tampa with live entertainment, pre and post parade, in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park (Ashley and Twiggs) and MacDill Park (Ashley and Whiting).
