The February Sarasota Events Calendar includes the best of the best fun free (or next to nothing) things to do in Sarasota.

February 1, 2023: Check out NBP Rec Day! This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger. Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more) All must complete the waiver form. February 1, 2023: It's a free concert with live music with the Gentlemen of Jazz, which recreates the New Orleans Preservation Hall style of jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This free concert take place every Wednesday through April 6, 2022 in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

February 1 - 5, 2023: It's the 34th Annual Gulf Coast Games for Life. This multi-sport event program is for adults 50 and over. Events take place in Sarasota County, Manatee County and the City of North Port. There are16 events: 5K Road Race, Bag Toss (Corn Hole), Basketball Shooting, Bocce Ball, Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Pickleball, Race Walk/Power Walk, Racquetball, Rowing an Paddle, Shuffleboard, Swimming, Table Tennis, Target Shooting, Track and Field. February 2 - March 30, 2023: The Brown Bag Concert series begins the first Thursday in February and continues to the last Thursday in March. Adding new local musicians. Bring your lawn chair and lunch, relax and enjoy wonderful music in a delightful park setting. Noon - 1 p.m. Free admission and Free parking. February 3, 2023: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with thr Pete BarenBregge Sextet. Saxophonist Pete BarenBregge is the former music director for the renowned USAF Airmen of Note. He has performed in the world’s finest concert halls with the top names in the entertainment field and for Kings, Queens and six Presidents. He now performs with his own band and other area bands. Sextet includes Dick Hamilton, David Pruyn, Cameron Kayne, Vince DeMartino and Greg Nielsen. Concert from 2 - 4 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church 3975 Fruitville Rd. February 3, 2023: Dance along to the Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch. Beer, wine and food. Check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting and other fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. February 3, 2023:  It's the Moon Over Myakka Fundraising Concert at the South Pavilion with Stumble Creek; an Eclectic Mix Of Americana With Strong Folk Roots, Hot Bluegrass Flashes And Rock-Inspired Riffs, When Stumble Creek Kick Off their 2023 Moon Over Myakka Fundraising Concert Series! Park entrance fee waived after 5 p.m. with concert ticket. Tickets: $25 per person, $20 for Friends of Myakka River Members. Half price tickets for children under 12 available at the door only. February:  On indefinite hiatus, this event may return at a later date, according to organizers. Celebration of Pets Fest at the Sarasota Fairgrounds. There will be pet adoptions; cats/kittens – puppies/dogs. Fun for the whole family including a wiener dog derby and live music. Free parking, admission $5 for adults. February 3 - 4, 2023: Browse vintage and handmade treasures at the American Vintage Markets which bring together a wide array of carefully curated vendors who will showcase their best re-cycled, re-purposed, handcrafted, and re-imagined treasures. February 3 - 4, 2023: It's the Bradenton Cigar Box Festival weekend with Hymn for Her, Travis Bowlin and Meg Williams, Steve Arvey, Stumpy Joe, Cigar Box Guitar Serenaders and many more. February 3 - 4, 2023: The Venice Symphony Returns to the Venice Performing Arts Center with "Cinematic Romance." Fall in love all over again with music from Casablanca, Romeo and Juliet and Gone With the Wind. Hailed as “…dazzling, electrifying and compelling,” superstar violinist Sandy Cameron will perform Danny Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands Suite, The Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso and the Tango from Scent of a Woman. February 4, 2023: It's a celebration of circus history and heritage as The 35th Annual Circus Ring of Fame induction ceremony takes place at the Circus Sarasota Tent at Nathan Benderson Park. There (usually) will be a live concert performance of circus music with a 60 piece band prior to the induction ceremony at 4:30 p.m. at Nathan Benderson Park. February 4, 2022: Canceled for 2023. Next event to be held on February 3, 2024. The evening before The 27th Annual Highland Games is “Ceilidh,” a traditional Celtic social gathering, which usually involves playing music, dancing and food! In the entertainment tent Celtic Conundrum, Eireann's Call & Whiskey Dregs will be the bands for the evening.  There will be games, raffles, dancing, and music. There will be vendors selling food and merchandise. This is a family friendly event. There will be beer and wine to purchase and a raffle for prizes. February 4, 2023: Young and old are invited to Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild's 8th annual "Airing of the Quilts: Quilt Show and Sale." See not only modern quilts made by talented members of the guild but there will also be quilts and other boutique items for sale along with food trucks offering tasty treats. Quilts will be hung under and around the Big Pavilion in a beautiful beach-side park. Admission is free! 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Maxine Barritt Park (near Sharkey's and the pier) at 1800 S. February 4 - 5, 2023: The Venice Area Orchid Society presents their 54th  annual show and sale, "Galaxy of Orchids." Thousands of blooming orchids will be for sale and on display in 15 artistically designed exhibits. Orchid art, accessories and supplies will also be for sale. February 4 - 5, 2023:  Join Crowley Museum & Nature Center for their Myakka River Rendezvous for another trip back in history. February 5, 2022: Canceled for 2023. Next event to be held on February 3, 2024. Check out the 27th Annual Sarasota Highland Games and Celtic Festival at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds. Enjoy the sound of bagpipes, drums, Celtic music, Highland dancing and athletic events, Border Collie demonstrations, kid's games and events and all things Scottish. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. rain or shine. February 5, 2023: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their 1st Sunday afternoon show of the new season at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.

February 5 - 6, 2022: Canceled for 2023. You're invited to the 19th Annual Plantation Festival at Gamble Mansion and Plantation. Enjoy an arts and crafts show, a student art competition, free tours of the Gamble Mansion, food and beverage vendors and more. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission and $1 donation for parking. Directions: Exit 224 from I-75. Head west for 1 mile on US 301. Look for the Landmark white picket fence and turn right into the main park entrance. 3708 Patten Avenue, Ellenton, FL.

February 6, 2022: At this time there are no plans for Giving Hunger the Blues this season 2023. Sarasota's largest and longest running charity event, Giving Hunger the Blues, benefits the Mayors Feed the Hungry Program and will be staged at Nathan Benderson Park. Featuring Headliners Selwyn Birchwood and Albert Castiglia plus Ariella, Big Night Out, Bird Tribe, Fogt's All Stars, Jeremy Carter Quartet, Frankie Pineiro and Cole Hazlitt Quintet. All proceeds benefit the Mayors Feed the Hungry Program, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Noon - 9:30 p.m. Tickets: 4 ticket options from $15 - $100. Early Bird $15. February 6, 2023: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with Vertigo on the Bolger Campiello. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets will be available approx. one month prior to each event, and will include a 24 hour pre-sale period for members. Members please note: $10 tickets are limited to one for Individual Memberships and two for all other Membership levels. Additionally, members may purchase up to four additional tickets at full price ($20) during the pre-sale period. Tickets are limited and will be available on a first come-first serve basis. February 8, 2020: TBA for 2023. It's the Tampa Bay Rays Fan Fest with autographs and photo opportunities on the field, clubhouse tours and numerous other fan fest special attractions from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free admission and free parking in lots 6 & 7. All attendees 18 years and older must individually obtain an admission ticket to attend. Children 17 and under do not need a ticket. February 9 - 20, 2023: The Florida State Fair takes place and gates open daily. The fairgrounds are at 4800 U.S. 301N. Tampa. You can also get there via I-75. (From I-75 N, take exit 261 to merge onto I-4 W toward Tampa. Take exit 7 to merge onto FL-600 W/E Hillsborough Ave/US-92 W toward US-301 W/Busch Gardens. Take the ramp to Riverview, Merge onto FL-41 S/FL-43 S/US-301 S. Continue to follow FL-43 S/US-301 S - fairgrounds will be on the right).  I've gotten there in about 75 minutes from Sarasota. February 10, 2024: The 13th Annual Superhero 5K & Fun Run will be held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. The start/finish line will be ON THE ISLAND near the rowing finish tower! This is a Foster Care Awareness Event. In-person and virtual racing options are available. The Kids' Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m.. The 5K will be on a CHIP START between 9 - 9:05 a.m.. You will receive an official chip time and place. Master and Overall timed at gun time 9 a.m. USATF Rules. More than just a race, the Superhero race brings together child welfare agencies and the community to highlight the 1,500+ youth who are in local foster care in Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto Counties, while providing a family-friendly event with music, a kiddie zone, food, and giveaways. We believe that kids in foster care and those who care for them are some of our community's most incredible heroes, which is the reason we have chosen a superhero theme. So don't be shy. February 10, 2023: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with the Roy Gerson Quartet. One of the finest pianists on Florida’s West Coast. In the 1990s, Roy Gerson performed regularly in top jazz clubs in NYC, the Village Gate, the Blue Note, Tavern on the Green and Zanzibar and others. Gerson has appeared in over a dozen movies, including Cotton Club, Crimes and Misdemeanors, The Mirror Has Two Faces with Barbra Streisand and the Associate. February 10, 2023: It's Free Music Friday Night Concert Series with live music at Centennial Park. The music of Kit M. Jones takes place at the Gazebo in the park.  Attendees are asked to follow current CDC guidelines. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. February 10 - 11, 2023:  It's SHELLABRATION time! The Sarasota Shell Club presents its 59th Annual Shell Show! Whether a serious shell lover or seeking a new shell idea, the Sarasota Shell Show is one of the largest shell shows in the world and the perfect place for new creative ideas for you! Beautiful shell crafts and rare shell exhibits are displayed from around the world. Fri and Sat: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is only $5 for adults, $2.50 for students age 12 to 18, and free for children 12 and under with a paid adult. February 10 - March 5, 2023: Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls....It's Circus Sarasota with another season of Big Top Performances. Celebrating 25 years, previous headliners have included comic daredevil, Sarasota's own international star, Bello Nock and Sarasota's high wire artist, Nik Wallenda. Every year features a new cast in an intimate one-ring European style Big Top. The Ulla Searing Big Top moves from the NBP north lakes area to Regatta Island at Nathan Benderson Park. February 11, 2023: Water sports is the order of the day at the annual  Bradenton Area River Regatta on the Manatee River just east of the Green Bridge. Watch the boat races from either the Bradenton or Palmetto river fronts or on the bridge itself. It's a free event featuring Formula 2 powerboat racing. The daylong fest also features live music starting at noon on two stages in both Bradenton and Palmetto,  food, kid zone, stunt dogs, and more plus a Sky Elements Drone Light Show finale over the river choreographed to music at 7 p.m. and much more!  More than 120,000 spectators attended the last event in 2021. February 11, 2023: By participating in the 12th annual Superhero 5K and 1 mile Fun Run hosted by Bridge a Life you'll help raise awareness about foster care needs in our community. February 11 - 12, 2023: Enjoy the 35th Annual Downtown Sarasota Festival of the Arts. Featured are some of the best artists in the nation displaying life-size sculptures, spectacular paintings, one-of-a-kind jewels, photography and more. It's ranked as one of the Top 100 Fine Arts Shows in the country by a national artists magazine. Begun in 1988, the festival features life-size sculptures, spectacular paintings, photography and inspired creativity for all to see (and buy!). February 11 - 12, 2023: It's the Sarasota Open Air Fine Art Show. This quality juried fine art and fine craft show bring artists with all disciplines to sell their original and personally handmade art. The focus is visual arts and fine arts and fine crafts created by award-winning artists from around the world with all disciplines for sale – paintings, clay, glass, sculpture, fiber, wood, jewelry, and more. February 12, 2023: It's Farm to Fillet 2023 at Mote. February 12 - April 30, 2023: This concert season, Sarasota Orchestra expands its community engagement tour known as “SO on the Road” to bring live music into local parks and cultural destinations. Admission is free. Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. through April. Various outdoor locations around Sarasota and Bradenton parks.

February 12 - June 25, 2023: For the 2023 installment of its annual Jean & Alfred Goldstein Exhibition Series, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens showcases the creativity and innovation of Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), who revolutionized glassmaking and American decorative arts. Tiffany believed that inspiration for art and design should be found in nature. This immersive, multidisciplinary show features stunning, original horticultural displays throughout Selby Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota campus, complemented by a curated gallery experience featuring more than 40 authentic Tiffany pieces inside the Museum of Botany & the Arts. The week-long Florida historical re-enactment horse back ride will begin near the Manatee Village Historic Park and ride East on 64 to Morgan Johnson Road. The ride  takes place from February 18 - 25.  A few of the Cracker Trail riders will be departing from near the Manatee historical village Saturday Feb 18 apx 9:30 a.m. riding east on SR 64 to Morgan Johnson. Specialty booths will show Tiffany, Pairpoint  and other special pieces of antique lighting, Rare instruments and barometers, Fine pieces of Americana, European, Asian and American antiques and so much more. February 26, 2022:  Moved to March for 2023. The Lakewood Ranch Annual Youth Fishing Tournament happens at Lake Uihlein (behind Town Hall). February 26, 2023: Enjoy the Selby Gardens Music Series with live music from New York City-based singer/songwriter Rae Radick at the Historic Spanish Point campus. From classical pianists, folk, country, Latin, pop, soul, and rock n' roll, enjoy an eclectic variety of local and international music at the Historic Spanish Point campus on Little Sarasota Bay. February 27, 2022: Canceled for 2023, but in the making for 2024. The Rubonia Mardi Gras Parade returns for another year with the traditional Mardi Gras style parade in this small Manatee County town. The parade is scheduled to step off at 12 noon just north of the I-275 overpass at Bayshore Rd and 79th Street East. Bring a lawn chair to view the parade from plus there are numerous front yard vendors selling seafood and BBQ on the streets that run off of Bayshore Road. After parade festivities until 6 p.m. include food vendors, entertainment and more at the Rubonia Community Center where Musical/Entertainment guests include: T&L Characters, AJ & the Automatics, and The Beat Down Band. 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Rubonia Community Center is at 1309 72nd Street, East, Rubonia, FL. February 27, 2023: It's Monday Night Jazz at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret. Monday Night Jazz at the Cabaret presents an exciting evening of jazz with top entertainment in an intimate cabaret setting in downtown Sarasota at the John C.
