February 1, 2018: Enjoy the free Brown Bag Concert Series at Phillippi Estate Park every Thursday from noon - 1 p.m. through March 31. February 1, 2018: Get groovin in the courtyard at Ringling Underground where you can enjoy live music in the Museum of Art Courtyard. An eclectic mix of local and regional live music is featured in the series. Plus check out up and coming artists with select galleries open until 11 p.m. 8 p.m. - 11 p.m.  Admission: $15. February 2, 2018: The Sarasota Audubon Presents the "Wild About Art Show" which celebrates the fine artistic talents of their members in their Inaugural Art Event through the month of February. Enjoy the works of many talented people from 2/1/18 - 2/28/18 and attend the opening reception on 2/2/18 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. and enjoy light refreshments, raffles and vote for the People's Choice Award. February 2, 2018: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m! Beer, wine and food sales plus check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting, and more fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75. February 2, 2018: Enjoy Live Music in the Park at Cafe in the Park with Bill Buchman’s Art of Jazz Trio. Food service: 6 p.m., Music: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Free admission. Enjoy music, food, weather, and views of Sarasota's most charming little downtown park. Seating is limited so feel free to bring a beach chair or folding chair. Cafe in the Park is just located south of downtown Sarasota in Payne Park, 2010 Adams Lane, Sarasota.

February 2, 2018: Put on your red, white and blue and take in the Riverview High School Kiltie Band's concert performance of the music of John Phillip Sousa. 7 p.m. $5 donation at the door. Off Proctor Rd at 1 Ram Way, Sarasota.

February 2, 2018: It's the Moon Over Myakka Concert Series 2018 at the South Pavilion with Moonshine Holler. Described as a two person music festival which captures the essence of American southern roots music, Moonshine Holler have performed at venues across the country and abroad including the FL Old-time Music Championships. Sometimes rowdy, sometimes reverent, always a ruckus! 7 p.m. Bring a chair and a picnic! Cost: $20 per person ($15 for Friends members). February 2 - 4, 2018: See historic stamps during the Sarasota Philatelic Club's Sarasota National Stamp Exhibition. This is part of the American Philatelic Society's "World Series of Philately" program. It's the largest annual Florida stamp show and exhibition. They usually offer free appraisals, seminars and door prizes. Free admission and parking. Fri - Sat:10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sun: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. February 2 - 4, 2018: Billed as the Sarasolo Festival, this three day weekend event will feature local performers featuring a variety of performances from improv to musical, story telling to dance, plays, cabaret, stand up and more featuring a selection of some of our best local performers. Numerous and varied performances and show times during the 6 day schedule (Also January 27 - 28, 2018). Tickets: $15. The Historic Crocker Memorial Church, 1260 12th Street, Sarasota. February 3, 2018: Water sports is the order of the day at the 4th annual  Bradenton Area River Regatta on the Manatee River just east of the Green Bridge. Watch the boat races from either the Bradenton or Palmetto river fronts or on the bridge itself. It's a free event featuring Formula 2 powerboat racing. The daylong fest will also feature live music in both Bradenton and Palmetto, a food fest, a fireworks finale about 6:45 p.m. over the river and much more including live music on two stages: Bradenton will have two dynamic line-ups of artists starring former Three Dog Night lead singer, Chuck Negron and the ultimate Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band, Let’s Groove Tonight. Palmetto’s Main Stage welcomes Las Vegas entertainer Adam D. Tucker and his #1 tribute show recreating the music of country icon Tim McGraw. New this year will be the sky-scraping high “Wheel of Lights” ferris wheel providing a jaw-dropping view of the city skyline and waterfront. February 3, 2018: It's the 11th annual Grand Ovation at Lakewood Ranch featuring live entertainment from top performance groups including local school groups to professional musicians, dance groups, chorus groups, drama groups and more. Billed as a mix of street festival and concert hall entertainment. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Free admission and parking. (No coolers) Main Street at Lakewood Ranch.

February 3, 2018: Young and old are invited to Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild's "Airing of the Quilts: Quilt Show and Sale." See not only modern quilts made by talented members of the guild but there will also be quilts and other boutique items for sale along with food trucks offering tasty treats. Quilts will be hung under and around the Big Pavilion in a beautiful beach-side park. Admission is free! 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Maxine Barritt Park (near Sharkey's and the pier) at 1800 S. February 3, 2018: It's the 43rd Annual Pioneer Picnic that celebrates Sarasota’s heritage. Hosted by The Rotary Club of Sarasota Foundation, The Pioneer Picnic was initiated in 1974 to recognize Sarasota County Pioneers; those who have lived in Sarasota County 50 or more years. This year attendance is expected to top 600 people from age 1 to 100. All Pioneers are invited to attend and bring their families and friends. Menu: Old fashioned pulled-pork, coleslaw, black-eyed peas, hush puppies and mounds of swamp cabbage; yes, swamp cabbage- a dietary staple of Sarasota’s earliest inhabitants. February 3, 2018: It's the Venice High School Parade of Champions celebrating the 2017 FHSAA Football State Champions and Girls Volleyball 2017 Class 8A State Champions. The parade will stage at Venice Elementary School and will cross Tamiami Trail at Miami Avenue and continue down Miami and will end at Centennial Park in downtown Venice. There will be a BBQ in Centennial Park following the parade. Bring your own chair. Parade starts at 1 p.m. Venice, FL.

February 3, 2018: Celebrate the end of tax season! There's a street party for you: "Main Street Live!" on Historic Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton from 5 p.m. - 12  a.m. with live music. The event also features food vendors and arts and crafts. Music ends at 10 p.m. but Old Main Street will remain closed until midnight.

February 3 - 4, 2018: The 24th Annual Winterfest at the Mansion Arts & Crafts Show features artists and crafters from 12 states. Free admission and parking. 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL.

February 3 - 4, 2018: The Venice Area Orchid Society presents their 52nd annual show and sale. Thousands of blooming orchids will be for sale and on display in 15 artistically designed exhibits. Orchid art, accessories and supplies will also be for sale. Widely regarded as the most popular orchid show on Florida's west coast. February 3 - 4, 2018: You're invited to the 18th Annual Plantation Festival at Gamble Mansion and Plantation. Enjoy an arts and crafts show, a school art competition, free tours of the Gamble Mansion, food and beverage vendors and more. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission and $1 donation for parking. Directions: Exit 224 from I-75. Head west for 1 mile on US 301. Look for the Landmark white picket fence and turn right into the main park entrance. 3708 Patten Avenue, Ellenton, FL.

February 3 - 4, 2018: The 9th Annual Sarasota Masters Art Festival features 70 or more of the nations' finest artists with their one of a kind works in categories including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculpture, ceramics, fine jewelry and blown glass. Live entertainment, food vendors too. Free admission. 10 a.m - 5 p.m. Gulf Stream Avenue on the corner of Main and Rt. 41, downtown Sarasota, FL.

February 4, 2018: Run for a song and rock your way along! The 4th Annual  Sarasota Music Half Marathon will be a 13.1 mile course that will start and end at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center parking lot and will wind its way through Selby Gardens, up Orange Avenue into the Cherokee Park neighborhood, back through Selby Gardens and finish back at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. There will also be 20 bands along with cheerleaders, lawn parties, Girl Scout cookies, crowds and energy. Starts at 6:30 a.m. Sarasota, FL.  Click here for more details and registration.

February 4, 2018: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their 1st Sunday afternoon show of the new season at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.

February 5, 2018: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with Vertigo. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Admission: $5 - $15. Sarasota Pet Fest

February 6, 2016: This event may return at a later date, according to organizers. It's the 6th annual Celebration of Pets Fest at the Sarasota Fairgrounds. There will be pet adoptions; cats/kittens – puppies/dogs. Fun for the whole family including a wiener dog derby and live music. Free parking, admission $5 for adults. Kids 6 & under & leashed pets are free and welcome. February 6, 2018: It's the 15th Annual Anna Maria Jazz Fest with the Gulf Drive Band and Koko Ray Hansen. Featured will be jazz standards of the past 70 years! February 6 - 7, 2018: It's a free concert with live music on Tuesday with the Happy Time Band and Wednesday with the Gentlemen of Jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. These free concerts take place in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

February 7 - 10, 2018: Quilts, quilts & more quilts are the highlights of the Palm Grove Amish Quilt & Craft Show. See beautiful quilts of all sizes (mostly Amish made) and a variety of handmade crafts for sale and watch quilters at work. You can surely find one you'll like. $2 admission donation for charity to a Haiti Mission Project. Wed - Fri: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat: 8 a.m. - noon. February 8, 2018: Meow! Four-legged friends make the best Valentines. Join the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) for a Valentine’s celebration. It's the 2nd Annual Smoochy Poochy Yappy Hour. Admission includes appetizers, cocktails, and entertainment from Black Diamond Burlesque. HSSC will have adorable pets on site, plus more surprises. All proceeds benefit the live-saving work of the Humane Society of Sarasota County. February 8 - 11, 2018: The Wings of Freedom Tour lands at Venice Municipal Airport. On display and available for walk through tours will be the B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-25 Liberator and TF-51D Mustang. Walk through tours are $15 adults, $5 for 12 and under. WWII vets get into the ground tours free. Walk through tour times are: Thurs: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Fri - Sun: 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Flight Experiences take place before and after tours. February 8 - 11, 2018: It's the 34th Annual "Greek Glendi - A Greek Festival" on the grounds of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church at 7671 N. Lockwood Ridge Road.  Food and festivities abound from traditional Greek food & pastries to live Greek music and dancing. Thursday - Saturday: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m, Sunday: Noon - 8 p.m. Admission is $4, kids under 12 free. There's free parking on the church grounds or take a free shuttle (look for signs). February 8 - 19, 2018: The Florida State Fair takes place and gates open daily at 9 a.m.The fairgrounds are at 4800 U.S. 301N. Tampa. You can also get there via I-75. (From I-75 N, take exit 261 to merge onto I-4 W toward Tampa. Take exit 7 to merge onto FL-600 W/E Hillsborough Ave/US-92 W toward US-301 W/Busch Gardens. Take the ramp to Riverview, Merge onto FL-41 S/FL-43 S/US-301 S. Continue to follow FL-43 S/US-301 S - fairgrounds will be on the right).  I've gotten there in about 75 minutes from Sarasota. February 9, 2018: It's Free Music Friday Night with live music at Centennial Park. The music of Johnny Rawls takes place at the Gazebo in the park. Free. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Downtown Venice. Bring your folding chairs or blankets.

February 9 - 10, 2018: The Bradenton Cigar Box Guitar Festival, where blues musicians play music on cigar boxes, will take place in the Village of the Arts. Scheduled to attend are nationally-known cigar box makers and musicians. There will be stages at each end of 10th Avenue West. Friday’s hours are from 6 p.m. until midnight. The City will close the portion of 10th Avenue West that extends from 12th Street West to the northwest corner of Motorworks Brewery to allow for alcohol sales. Saturday’s hours are 1-4 p.m. There is not a road closure scheduled Saturday; musicians will appear in various Village galleries. Village of the Arts, 1017 12th Ave W, Bradenton, FL.

February 9 - 11, 2018: The Sarasota Shell Club presents its 55th Annual Shell Show! Whether a serious shell lover or seeking a new shell idea, the Sarasota Shell Show is one of the largest shell shows in the world and the perfect place for new creative ideas for you! Beautiful shell crafts and rare shell exhibits are displayed from around the world. Fri: 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m., Sat: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sun: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is only $5 for adults, $2.50 for students age 12 to 18, and free for children 11 and under with a paid adult. February 9 - March 4, 2018: Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls....It's Circus Sarasota celebrating 21 years of Big Top Performances and in 2018 it presents, "Ovation!" Previous headliners have included comic daredevil, Sarasota's own international star, Bello Nock and Sarasota's high wire artist, Nik Wallenda. The all new winter production features performances at various times and dates. Ticket prices range from $12 - $44. Performances take place under the Big Top which opens 1 hour before show time. February 10, 2018: In shape? Join hundreds of other runners for the Scrub Jay 5K & 10K run at Oscar Scherer State Park. The 5K run starts at 8:00 a.m. The 10K run starts at 8:15 a.m., the  Park opens at 6:30 a.m. Over 600 runners participated last year! Oscar Scherer State Park is located in Osprey, south of Sarasota, north of Venice, at 1843 S. Tamiami Trail. February 10, 2018: It's the Tampa Bay Rays Fan Fest with autographs and photo opportunities on the field and numerous other fan fest special attractions. Free admission and free parking. February 10, 2018: The one-day festival called The Hawkins Road Festival provides space and activities to celebrate community through music, art, spirituality, and social awareness. The fest will feature, among other things, Live local music, food and beverage vendors, captivating speakers, activities for kids & teens from bounce houses to dance performances, topics surrounding spirit and social awareness, beer & wine (after 4 p.m.), art & craft exhibits, a drum circle and much more. February 10 - 11, 2018: Enjoy the 30th Annual Downtown Sarasota Festival of the Arts. February 13, 2018: The Orioles will hold the 8th Annual OriolesREACH Birdland Golf Classic at the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch to benefit the Miracle League of Manasota, an organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for every person to play baseball, regardless of their ability. Registration is now open for golfers and corporate partners. The event begins with registration and lunch at 11:00 a.m. with a shotgun start set for 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be served on the course during play. The classic will feature a silent auction and the chance to play a round with current and former Orioles players and coaches. Following the event, the golf club will host a dinner for participating golfers, as well as Orioles players and coaches. February 17, 2018: It's the start of the annual Florida Cracker Trail Ride. Manatee Village Members of the Florida Cracker Trail Association will ride on horseback through Manatee Village Historical Park, stopping for photographs with Manatee Village’s commemoration plaque to Manatee County’s Cracker heritage, as they begin their annual Trail Ride. February 23, 2018: The Orioles have announced plans for Opening Day of the 2018 Spring Training season when the Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET at Ed Smith Stadium. All fans in attendance will receive a 2018 Spring Training schedule magnet. Additionally, the first 1,000 female fans in attendance will receive a Birds of Paradise flower, courtesy of Beneva Flowers.  In a special pre-game ceremony, the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team, “The Para-Commandos,” will parachute in to center field with the ceremonial first pitch ball. February 24, 2018: The Rubonia Mardi Gras Parade returns after being on hiatus for a couple of years. The traditional Mardi Gras style parade, in this small Manatee County town, is scheduled to step off at noon just north of the I-275 overpass at Bayshore Rd and 79th Street East. Bring a lawn chair to view the parade from plus there are numerous front yard vendors selling seafood and BBQ on the streets that run off of Bayshore Road. February 24, 2018: Enjoy Live Music in the Park at Cafe in the Park with Kim Logan & The Hydramatic. Food service: 6 p.m., Music: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Free admission. Enjoy music, food, weather, and views of Sarasota's most charming little downtown park. Seating is limited so feel free to bring a beach chair or folding chair. February 24, 2018: It's the 2018 Beertopia, a sampling of a variety of craft and imported beers along with dishes from local restaurants with a live performance by Kettle of Fish. February 24, 2018: Check out some heavenly bodies during Sidewalk Astronomy courtesy of the local group of Deep Sky Observers. Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing from sunset. - 10 p.m./10:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Celery Fields / Sarasota Audubon. The Celery Fields, 6893 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL. February 24 - 25, 2018: Celebrate the agricultural history of Southwest Florida and the pioneers that preceded us during this year's Southwest Florida Heritage Festival. Focused on history and education, the festival will offer a number of homesteading skills workshops and demonstrations including Pioneer Cooking, Bee Keeping, Goat Milking, Archery, Petting Zoo/Pony Rides, Historic Building Tours, Gardening, Nature Walks and more. February 24 - 25, 2018: It's the 17th annual Fine Arts Festival of Manatee County featuring fine craft, painting, jewelry, clay, stained glass, leather and more hosted by the ArtCenter Manatee. More than 75 artists will display their work in this juried show with cash prizes. The festival features local, regional and national award-winning artists, artist demos, music, food vendors with seating and more. Free admission. February 25, 2018: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. February 26, 2018: Celebrate the start of Manatee County’s Heritage Days with It's HAIRitage & Hops, a kick-off party to benefit historic preservation at Manatee Village Historical Park! This party at 3 Keys Brewery & Eatery will include a Beard and Mustache Competition for kids, adults and pets, with prizes. There will be free make-and-take crafts including a fake beard station for kids and adults, and a chance for kids to bottle their own root beer. Free admission. Food and drinks available. February 27, 2018: It's Guitars and flutes taking the stage at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) for “We Tell the Story.” The concert will feature eclectic music selections based on folktales with a performance by guest artists Theresa and Chuck Hulihan, a dynamic flute and guitar instrumental duo from Arizona. The Hulihans will be joined by SCF’s Guitar Ensemble, solo guitarist Roger Hudson and a flute quartet. 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10, student and staff tickets are $5.
