March 1, 2022: Do the Crawl! The Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Crawl. March with the New Orleans Style Second Line Brass Band in Historic Downtown Venice. The party kicks off at 4pm on Miami Avenue West at the Merchants of Venice Building parking lot. Put on your Mardi Gras mask, enjoy live music and get a snapshot in our photo booth. Follow along behind the New Orleans style “second line” brass band as it makes its way from Miami Avenue to West Venice Avenue stopping to play at 10+ locations. The celebration continues at after parties at Made in Italy and Daiquiri Deck. “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” Let the good times roll! March 1 - 6, 2022:  Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls....It's Circus Sarasota with another season of Big Top Performances. Previous headliners have included comic daredevil, Sarasota's own international star, Bello Nock and Sarasota's high wire artist, Nik Wallenda. Every year features a new cast in an intimate one-ring European style Big Top. March 1 - April 10, 2022: Sarasota's Bayfront Park has been the backdrop for Embracing Our Differences' colorful, larger-than-life canvases integrating powerful imagery and thought-provoking messages celebrating diversity. The scale and impact of this outdoor exhibition has continued to grow, attracting over two million visitors since its inception. (Park entrance is located at the corner of Ringling Boulevard and Bayfront Drive/US Route 41). For more information about Embracing Our Differences, call 941-404-5710.

March 2, 2022: It's a free concert with live music with the Gentlemen of Jazz, which recreates the New Orleans Preservation Hall style of jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This free concert take place every Wednesday through April 6, 2022 in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

March 2 – 25, 2022: Join The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee for its annual Mort Skirboll Jewish Film Festival. Diverse films from around the world will be featured virtually. Click here for more information.

March 3, 2022: Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources' Beach University series returns to the Siesta Beach main pavilion. In partnership with the Siesta Beach Ambassador volunteer program, this free educational series invites community members and visitors to learn about coastal environments in one-hour sessions. Beach University sessions are from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., every Thursday in March at the main pavilion on Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key. Join in virtually by tuning into @SRQCountyPlay on Facebook.Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs as seating is limited. No registration is required.

March 3, 2022: Enjoy the Brown Bag Concert Series every Thursday from noon - 1 p.m. with live music through March 31. Bring your lunch and a chair or blanket and enjoy a wide variety of musical performances.  Adding new local musicians. March 3, 2022: The Iconic wedding ceremony music will ring out as the SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra presents “To Have and to Hold.” The concert will include performances of Wagner’s “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” and “Bridal Chorus” from the opera “Lohengrin," Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March” from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” Schubert’s “Ave Maria” featuring SCF soprano Lylyana Brych, the overture from Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro” and many more familiar wedding selections. 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased online while tickets for students and staff are $5 at the door. March 3 - 5, 2022. Check out the 29th Annual Pinecraft Days Arts & Crafts Festival! More than 40 exhibitors including Amish and Mennonite and upscale artists from around the Sun Coast area. Find handmade items from wood bowls to wind chimes, canvass, art, jewelry, candles, soaps, crafts, white elephant sale and more. March 4, 2022: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with Michael Ross Quartet with Fred Johnson. Bassist Michael Ross, is joined by Fred Johnson, vocals and conga and former Jazz Club scholarship winners Liston Gregory III, piano and drummer Josh Platt. The quartet features music from the American songbook, jazz standards and original compositions. Admission at the door, $10 - $20. March 4, 2022: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m with G-Force Revised playing a mix of Motown, Funk, Soul & Dance music. Beer, wine and food sales. Check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting, and fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. March 4, 2022: It's Fresh Fridays - Downtown Sarasota! Fresh Fridays returns with NEIGHBORS & NEWCOMERS! This TROPICAL-THEMED block party features free live entertainment, free signature party favors, free light bites, beverages al fresco, dancing, and more! So grab your friends both new and old, slip on some flip-flops, wear your most festive floral shirts, put on your straw hats and leave your lost shaker of salt at home for a TROPICAL block party from 7 p.m.- 10 p.m.! March 5, 2022: Canceled for 2022. Stroll the street and enjoy the Annual ArtSlam  in downtown Bradenton. This annual community day showcasing collaborative creativity is a celebration of the arts and arts education. A Celebration of Youth & Creativity! Watch as dozens of teams of students and creatives take art out of the classrooms and studios and onto the streets. Engage in the creative process, experience temporary public art, and celebrate the creative youth in Manatee County. March 5, 2022: Bring your family, bring your dogs, bring your friends, and bring your friends' dogs to the Suncoast Walkathon. This free, family-friendly event includes a 3K walk and a Waggin' Tails Festival with music, food, vendors, and an exciting raffle drawing. Walkathon is Southeastern Guide Dogs' largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds help us breed, raise, train, and match our amazing dogs with people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges such as vision loss or the loss of a parent in the military. March 5, 2022: CANCELED for March 5, 2022. Check out NBP Rec Day! This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger. Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more) All must complete the waiver form. March 5, 2022: Palmetto will celebrate its history at their Heritage Festival at Palmetto Historical Park & Manatee County Agricultural Museum. Join the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Manatee County Agricultural Museum, the 40th Anniversary of the Palmetto Historical Park and Palmetto Historical Commission, AND the 125th Anniversary of the City of Palmetto! This free event will feature a park open house, special anniversary exhibits, children’s activities, contests, recipes to collect, a trivia tour, and exhibits by a variety of local services. The 1880 Post Office will be open for business featuring our 2022 cancellation designed by Manatee County resident Joy “Pat” Robertson, so bring your mail to be posted here. A special anniversary addition to this year’s festival is a Free Community Appreciation Lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to thank the community for all of their support over the years. March 5, 2022: Take a short ride to the Parrish Heritage Days Parade and Festival. The Heritage Festival will be held at the Parrish Community High School, 7505 Fort Hamer Raod,  Parrish. There will be lots of fun things to do, including food trucks, vendors, entertainment, and things for the children. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free admission and parking. March 5, 2022:  The Friends of Oscar Scherer State Park present the innovative Americana band, Passerine, for a “Concert Under the Stars.” With inventive vocal harmonies and song-writing, supported by the sounds of acoustic strings, Passerine offers a fresh take on traditional folk and bluegrass music as well as a repertoire of original songs that range from sweet ballads to the edgier side of contemporary Americana. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person CASH ONLY at the door. March 5 - 6, 2022: It's the Annual Shark's Tooth 10K run. The iconic Shark's Tooth 10K will be professionally chip-timed with custom finisher medals and locally printed custom race shirts. One of the favorite races for locals and visitors alike. Beautiful course on the asphalt paths of Rothenbach Park through the oak hammock, lots of wildlife, a little bit of roll to the terrain in parts. Limited to 100 each day. You can also do a virtual Sharks Tooth 10k. Starts at 7:15 a.m. Registration fee is $49. March 5 - 6, 2022: The Sarasota Spring Fine Art Festival transforms JD Hamel Park into an outdoor gallery of original, handmade works by artisans from across America. This tapestry of art is woven from creations in painting, sculpting, jewelry, photography, glass, ceramics, fiber and wearable art, mixed-media, woodworking and much more.  Talk with artists and order a unique piece of art created just for you! 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free admission. March 5 - 6, 2022: It's the return of Art in the Park for its 22nd year. Each year, the University Park Country Club (UPCC) hosts a fine art show featuring over 150 works of art created by local artists. The pieces range from large and small scale original paintings, mixed media, photographs, sculptures, small prints and beautiful note cards. The show is indoors and takes place rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. After visiting the show, a perfect place to have lunch is at the freshly renovated club restaurant in a beautiful setting overlooking the lake and golf course. The restaurant offers an extensive menu, including craft cocktails. Admission to the show is free and there is free parking at the club. March 6, 2022:  Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.

March 6, 2022: It's the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park Annual UDC  Spring Open House. During the Mansion's 'free tours' see the many lifestyle demonstrations of  the era of the 1840’s - 1870’s. The ladies of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will be wearing costumes reminiscent of the era of the 1840’s through 1870’s to add that special touch of authenticity to the day. The Gamble Mansion will be open to the public with free tours  of the building. There will be music, crafts and fun for everyone. March 6, 2022: Not sure what to do this summer? Join Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources at 1 p.m., Sunday, for the first-ever Summer Kick-Off Youth Activity Fair. Parents and children are invited to meet with more than 20 community partners to learn about youth activities available this summer. Families are invited to enjoy entertainment, food trucks, inflatable games, raffles, and more. Youth participants will receive an event passport from the registration booth and are encouraged to visit each vendor to be entered into a drawing for any number of swag prizes. March 6 - 7, 2021: Not taking place in 2022. Celebrate the agricultural history of Southwest Florida and the pioneers that preceded us during this year's Southwest Florida Heritage Festival. Focused on history and education, the festival will offer a number of homesteading skills workshops and demonstrations including Pioneer History, Costumed Demonstrators, Unique Vendors, Animals, Hayride Shuttle, Live Music, Food Vendors and more. Admission: $20 per carload, $10 per motorcycle. Cash only. Covers parking and admission. March 6 - April 24, 2022: This concert season, Sarasota Orchestra expands its community engagement tour known as “SO on the Road” to bring live music into local parks and cultural destinations. While admission is free, attendees will be required to register to hold a seat at performances. Registration will open on Eventbrite about a month prior to concerts. March 7, 2022: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with Paisley Craze on the Bolger Campiello. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets will be available approx. one month prior to each event, and will include a 24 hour pre-sale period for members. Members please note: $10 tickets are limited to one for Individual Memberships and two for all other Membership levels. Additionally, members may purchase up to four additional tickets at full price ($20) during the pre-sale period. Tickets are limited and will be available on a first come-first serve basis. March 7, 2022: It's Monday Night Jazz at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret with O Som Do Jazz. Jazz at the FST John C. Court Cabaret on March 7 features O Som Do Jazz, a Florida Brazilian bossa nova, samba-jazz & MPB band located in the Tampa Bay area. Founded by band leader, David Manson, the group features Rio de Janeiro singer Andrea Moraes Manson and a crew of experienced musicians performing samba-jazz, Bossa Nova, Balanço, Baião and MPB.  O Som Do Jazz (the sound of jazz in Portuguese) recaptures the grace, energy and spirit of 1960s Brazilian music. March 9 - 10, 2022: It's the Master Artists and Light Chasers 11th Annual Art Show and Sale. All paintings are available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds going to the renovation of the 1916 historic Keith Farmhouse at Phillippi Estate Park. March 9 - May 11, 2022: Enjoy the Bayfront Gardens at The Ringling for Acoustic Sunsets with a solo musician on Ca' d'Zan Terrace! This event will feature a solo or duo musical group performing acoustic music as the sun sets on beautiful Sarasota Bay. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Tables will be set up on the terrace to allow for social distancing. 6:00 p.m. $10 Members. Tickets will be available 30 days prior to each event. In the case that there are tickets still available one week prior to each event, members will be able to purchase up to 4 guest tickets for $15 each. Moving to March in 2020. TBD for 2022.The Annual Ringling Bridge Run, usually held each year in January was moved to March for 2020 in the hopes of being able to continue the run. Unfortunately due to complications, we assume, from the change over at the Sarasota YMCA in 2019.

March 10 - 13, 2022: The 94th Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo happens at the Rodeo Arena in Arcadia, about an hour's drive east of Sarasota.  Events include bareback riding, barrel racing and bull riding. Various ticket prices. Notes: Tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. 00-749-7633. The show goes on rain or shine. All seats are covered.Parking is $10 and proceeds go towards Arcadia’s JROTC. March 11, 2022: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with The Pete BarenBregge Quintet. Pete BarenBregge, sax and flute, headlines Jazz at Two for the first time. The former music director for the USAF Airmen of Note leads the quintet featuring the legendary trumpeter, Randy Sandke, with Stan Collins, piano, Cam Kayne, bass and Greg Caputo, drums. March 11, 2022: It's Free Music Friday Night Concert Series with live music at Centennial Park. The music of  Patchouli takes place at the Gazebo in the park.  Attendees are asked to follow current CDC guidelines. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. March 11 - 12, 2022: It's the Venice Area Garden Club's 33rd Annual Garden Tour and Plant Sale. Six beautiful, unique private gardens and Plant Sale. Open Air Event. Masks required. March 23, 2022: Check out NBP Rec Day! This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. March 24, 2022: The Orioles invite fans to bring non-perishable food items to the ballpark this Thursday in support of the annual All Faiths Food Drive at Ed Smith Stadium. Sarasota Chamber’s 2021 Non-Profit of the Year will be collecting donations for local families in need as the Orioles take on the Boston Red Sox at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 24. March 25, 2022: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with The David Pruyn Quartet. New Orleans native, David Pruyn is a multi-talented musician, playing drums, trumpet and sings. His background includes arranging, orchestrating and conducting. He has worked with as long list of top jazz artists and performs with concert orchestras in venues, such as, Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Venice Theatre and the Van Wezel. March 26, 2022: Venice High School along with the City of Venice will host a “Parade of Champions, ”celebrating the 2021 Venice High Football Team’s State Championship, along with 2 Venice High seniors who won Gold Medals in the Florida State Special Olympics for Basketball. The parade will step off at Venice High at 11 a.m. and travel west on Milan Ave., north on Nokomis Ave., west on Venice Ave., and north on Nassau St. to the Gazebo in Centennial Park. The parade will include Venice Fire and Police vehicles; Douglas Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram of Venice will provide additional vehicles. School officials and City dignitaries will speak at a program to follow in the park. In an effort to maximize volunteer opportunities and help keep volunteers safely distanced, we are hosting two Great American Cleanup events this year! March 26, 2022: SCF Jazz Heads Back to the Roaring ‘20s by Presenting Postmodern Juke Joint as their Jazz Ensemble pays tribute to the retro innovations of Postmodern Jukebox with a new twist on modern classics. Postmodern Jukebox is a rotating musical collective known for adapting popular modern songs into vintage genres like swing and jazz. SCF Jazz will pay homage to this method by giving modern rock classics from the likes of Sting, U2 and Billy Joel a Roaring ‘20s twist. If you have ever wondered what Motown would have sounded like in 1920, this show will present a possible answer. March 26, 2022: Service Club of Manatee County hosts For the Love of Children, Boots and Bling Gala. Service Club of Manatee County, in its 95th year, annually raises funds to distribute to organizations that serve disadvantaged children in Manatee County providing food, shelter, clothing, education and health services. Boots and Bling is a new theme this year. Included will be live music, food, drinks, bull riding, ring toss and many exciting auction items. March 26, 2022: It's the return of My Hometown Fest, Southwest Florida's biggest and best neighborhood block party, featuring food, music, and craft beers from hometowns across the USA. All profits from My Hometown Fest support the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota and Sertoma Kids Speech and Language Center. Both are area nonprofits that serve children and adults struggling with speech, language and hearing challenges. It's a one-day offshore tournament for grouper with prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place plus a trophy for the biggest catch. Plus there's usually an after tournament barbecue and raffle for prizes. The spirit of this tournament is to provide a chance to fish, to have fun, to eat together, to raise scholarship monies and especially to honor the memory of John Breuggeman. March 31, 2022: The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) music department will showcase the talents of several chamber ensembles in “Step Into My Chamber.” The Recital Hall provides an intimate setting for chamber ensembles to showcase a rich sound for a top-notch audience experience. Performances from the Woodwind Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Choir, Brass Quintet and Trumpet Choir highlight the front half of the show.
