March 1, 2019 Meow! It's the 13th Annual Paws on the Catwalk Luncheon. Taking place at the Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota, doors will open at 10:30 a.m. with signature cocktails, a shopping reception and a raffle, followed by a delicious lunch. Guests will be treated to a fabulous fashion show produced by INfluence Style, a live auction, and exciting entertainment throughout the luncheon.Tickets: $175 each. March 1, 2019: Get your toes tapping at "Jazz at Two" featuring Bill Buchman’s “Art of Jazz.” “Art of Jazz” features top players doing inspiring contemporary jazz, latin, swing, boogie woogie, blues, New Orleans swing  and more. Bill says, about his music, “Jazz and blues are our forms of art and that’s  the level we strive for. March 1, 2019: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m with Jah Movement! Beer, wine and food sales. Check out the fountain area for a balloon twister, face painting, and fun. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. March 1 - 10, 2019: Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls....It's Circus Sarasota celebrating 21 years of Big Top Performances! Previous headliners have included comic daredevil, Sarasota's own international star, Bello Nock and Sarasota's high wire artist, Nik Wallenda. The all new winter production features performances at various times and dates. Ticket prices range from $12 - $44. Performances take place under the Big Top which opens 1 hour before show time. March 1 – 31, 2019: It's Manatee Heritage Days with a full schedule of events to mark its 40-year anniversary and celebrate the community’s past countywide. Originally a week in length, Manatee Heritage Days grew to nine days, and in 1995, it expanded into a month-long event. Through these events at local historical sites, participants will experience the pioneer lifestyle and learn how Manatee County has grown and developed. Most events are free, however, some require a reservation or admission fee. For general information on the Manatee Heritage Days, call 941-741-4070. March 2, 2019: It's the 10th Annual Shark's Tooth 10K run. It starts at the Venice Airport Festival Grounds. Participants receive: Custom medal for all finishers, Free entry to the 27th Annual Shark's Tooth Festival in April, Premium post race party, Door prizes, Custom Awards and more. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics. Registration fees varies. March 2, 2019: It's Anna Maria Island Heritage Day with a Settler’s Market selling their famous Settlers’ bread and herbs, honey and produce. Live music plus Bar-B-Q, museum tours and settler era crafts and demonstrations; Bee Keeping, Candle Making, Wool Spinning, Quilting, Knitting, Woodworking, Basket Weaving and more. March 2, 2019: Stroll the street and enjoy the Annual ArtSlam 2019 in downtown Bradenton. This annual community day showcasing collaborative creativity is a celebration of the arts and arts education. A Celebration of Youth & Creativity! Watch as dozens of teams of students and creatives take art out of the classrooms and studios and onto the streets. March 2, 2019: The Orioles and Ed Smith Stadium host “Cole Swindell’s Party in the Outfield.” One of Nashville’s brightest young stars, Swindell, a Platinum-selling recording artist and 11-time No 1 singer/songwriter, released his third album, “All of It” in 2018 and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country album chart. Stage-front tickets are now sold out, but general admission on-field tickets are still available for $30 in advance ($35 at the door). All tickets are standing only (no seating on the field), but fans who wish to sit can do so in the ballpark seating bowl. March 2 - 3, 2019: Enjoy the sights and flights of Wings over Venice, the 20th annual radio controlled aircraft exhibition held by The R/C Fliers of Venice. March 2 - 3, 2019: You're invited to enjoy the Berry Fest from the same people that bring you the annual Pumpkin Fest. This family friendly event will feature craft booths, face painting, a rock wall, bounce house, mini train rides, food, an Easter egg hunt (1 p.m. Saturday), and spring baby animals. Since it's the "Berry Fest" they will feature yummy strawberry shortcake, strawberry milkshakes, hand-dipped blueberry cheesecake ice cream plus kettle corn and plenty of good eats. March 2 - 3, 2019: Enjoy the 30th Annual Lido Tides Arts & Crafts Show in the open air along the beach in front of the Lido Beach Pavilion. Featuring the creations of talented artists and crafts people from all over. Lots of creativity on display and for purchase from spectacular paintings, one-of-a-kind jewels, and photography to ceramics, and much more. No matter what you're looking for, you'll be sure to find it among the various array of artists and crafters participating in this arts and craft festival. March 2 - 3, 2019: It's the Dub Fest 2019 Craft Beer & Music Festival celebrating J. Dub's Brewing Company's 5th anniversary. Saturday's 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. music line up: Ship of Fools, Wild Root, SOWFLO, Reverend Barry & The Funk, Bob Marley Tribute, Less Than Jake, Sunday's 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. music line up: Jah Movement, The Black Honkeys, Mini Kiss, Reel Big Fish. March 3, 2019: You're invited to a free open house! It's the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park Annual UDC 59th Annual Spring Open House. During the Mansion's 'free tours' see the many lifestyle demonstrations of  the era of the 1840’s - 1870’s.  Additionally, members of the 4th Florida Volunteer Infantry will have a Confederate encampment. March 3, 2019: No festival in 2019, according to organizers. Check out the 4th year of the new and revamped Suncoast Blues Festival, Sarasota's new Blues Fest! Click here for tickets and more info. March 3, 2019: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666.

March 3, 2019: The Sarasota Farmers Market is proud to announce it’s second annual “Taste of the Market” Fundraiser. Guests will be treated to food provided by Market vendors, including a 50 foot salad bar with all items sourced by our market growers. Food service will run from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. A cash bar will be available, featuring a craft beer garden.The event will feature live disco music by Bootyshaker, raffles, and a “Disco Dance-Off” Competition from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $35 prior to the event, $45 the night of event. March 3 - 9, 2019: The Jazz Club of Sarasota, one of the most active jazz societies in the nation, will present "Generations of Jazz" for its 39th Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival. This year's Fest,one of the sun coast's most looked forward to events of the year, will feature 49 events and more than 120 musicians and performers at the Hyatt Regency and 13 other area venues in a mix of free and ticketed events. Mainstage performers: The long-established musicians—award-winners all—include three pianists: revered NEA Jazz Master DICK HYMAN, BILL CHARLAP and SHELLY BERG; Ellington alum and bassist JOHN LAMB; “rock-solid” saxophonist HOUSTON PERSON; acclaimed trumpet players RANDY BRECKER and RANDY SANDKE; and vocalist MARY STALLINGS. The UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI FROST CONCERT JAZZ BAND completes the list of seasoned performers. 

March 4, 2019: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with Paisley Craze. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Admission: $5 - $15. March 5, 2019: Historic Downtown Venice is gearing up for the Second Annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Crawl… Venice style! This year there will be two 2nd line Marching Bands; just like those in New Orleans. Beads galore, hurricanes and even special New Orleans inspired food dishes. March 5 - 6, 2019: It's a free concert with live music on Tuesday with the Happy Time Band and Wednesday with the Gentlemen of Jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. These free concerts take place in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

March 6 - 17, 2019: The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee Presents The 2019 Naiditch Family Foundation 10th annual Jewish Film Festival. The film festival features 18 celebrated feature films that highlight Jewish and Israeli history and Jewish values. The annual festival celebrates Israeli life, history and culture. March 7, 2019: Enjoy the free Brown Bag Concert Series at Phillippi Estate Park every Thursday from noon - 1 p.m. through March 31. March 7, 2019: Get groovin' in the courtyard at Ringling Underground where you can enjoy live music in the Museum of Art Courtyard. March 7 - 10, 2019: The 91st Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo happens at the Rodeo Arena in Arcadia, about an hour's drive east of Sarasota.  Events include bareback riding, barrel racing and bull riding. March 8, 2019: Don't Miss the "More than a Movie:" Shrek, in the Museum of Art Courtyard! SHREK will be projected on a large inflatable screen in the Courtyard. March 8, 2019: A new season of Music in the Park kicks off at the Riverwalk in Bradenton. Bring a picnic basket, blankets or chairs, and your furry companions on leashes to the Bradenton Riverwalk Mosaic Amphitheater and enjoy the show featuring Johnny Rawls, a "soul blues" legend—for free! Drinks and snacks available for purchase. This concert series will occur every Friday evening through April 26, 2019. 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Free admission. March 8, 2019: It's Crowley Museum & Nature Center's Starry Night fund raiser where you can enjoy an evening observing celestial wonders under Crowley's dark and beautiful skies through amazing and powerful telescopes provided by the Local Group of Deep Sky Observers. March 8 - 9, 2019: The Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild of Sarasota will hold their 17th Biennial Quilt Show. The show will include hundreds of beautiful quilts, more than 20 vendors, door prizes, basket raffles, mini quilt and block auctions, quilt appraisal services and our beautiful raffle quilt. The queen sized (88 x 88) quilt was made by a group of 20 Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild members.  The quilt features Kaffe Fassett fabric and includes hand applique and machine paper piecing.  The raffle drawing will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 during the quilt show.  Raffle quilt tickets can be purchased for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 during the show. March 8 - 10, 2019: The 15th annual Firestone Grand Prix roars into St. Petersburg featuring Indy Car style racing through the streets.  More than 150,000 fans are expected to view the race, a 1.8 mile 14-turn course through downtown St. Pete. With three days of racing and entertainment and festival events tickets start at $20 with numerous high priced packages available also. St. Petersburg, FL.

March 9, 2019: It's the Anna Maria Island Privateers Thieves Market, a Flea Market only Pirate Style! 100’s of Vendors, Treasures to be Found, Food to be Eaten, Fresh Veggies to be bought. March 9, 2019: The 8th Annual Irish Celtic Festival & Lucky Dog Parade that  takes place at Greenbrook Adventure Park off SR70 in Lakewood Ranch. With entertainment stages, the Lucky Dog Parade, traditional food, a pot 'o gold scavenger hunt, Dancers, Bands, Guys can enter the very popular ‘BEST LEGS IN A KILT’ Contest, and more. Judging and awards will be given for dogs that are Most Irish, Cutest, and Dog/Owner look alike. (Entry for contest is $5.) Also as part of this year's fest they will continue the Relay Race. March 9, 2019: It's the 13th annual Pork Butt Blues Festival in Palmetto featuring: Bands to be announced. There will be some great food. Bring your favorite chair! March 9 - 10, 2019: Check out Art in the Park which features the work of over 30 artists, many showing nationally and award winning, under the canopy at the University Park Country Club. March 10, 2019: Enjoy the Backyard Concert Series at Summerfield Park in Lakewood Ranch. The free concerts take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month. March 16, 2019: It's the start of the 3 Holiday Race Challenge, a three-event running challenge at Nathan Benderson Park. The series begins with the inaugural Lucky Leprechaun 5K at 6 p.m. March 16. This family-friendly, fitness-centered St. Patrick’s Day-themed race includes an Irish-themed festival. Runners consider NBP an ideal location for running events because of its generally flat courses and near unlimited visibility of the entire race course from anywhere. The challenge will include running on the “floating final mile,” across the 12-foot-wide floating wave attenuator that runs north-and-south on the NBP lake. The second race in the series is the first annual Fireworks On The Lake 4 Miler on July 3, 2019 in conjunction with the annual NBP Fireworks On the Lake. The challenge concludes with the second annual Florida Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019. March 24, 2019: It's the "Tour de Parks Fun Ride" on The Legacy Trail to celebrate its 8th anniversary. It's an on-road bicycle tour of varying distances along the paved trails and roads of Sarasota County. There is a 62 mile, 35 mile and 21 mile fully supported road ride with rest stops. March 24, 2019: Get your fingers snappin' and your toes tappin' to the Joy of Jazz live in Centennial Park at the Gazebo brought to you by the Jazz Club of Sarasota and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, featuring Tom Ellison on reeds and vocals, one of the area's more versatile artists. He performs with big bands and orchestras and stage productions at the Asolo, Van Wezel and Venice Theatre. Joining him on keyboard is Judi Glover. March 25, 2019: Check out the Jazz Club of Sarasota Monday Night Jazz at the Florida Studio Theatre Cabaret Series with the Brandon Robertson Quartet  Brandon Robertson is an EMMY® nominated director and bassist originally from Tampa, FL. He has performed at the world famous Dizzy's Coca Cola Club in New York City with the nationally recognized FSU Jazz Sextet joining members of the JALC Orchestra. Among others, Brandon has performed with notable acts such as the Count Basie Orchestra led by director Scotty Barnhart.  He is the Director of Jazz Studies, Jazz Ensemble & Director of the FGCU Basketball Band at Florida Gulf Coast University. March 26 - 27, 2019: It's a free concert with live music on Tuesday with the Happy Time Band and Wednesday with the Gentlemen of Jazz. March 28, 2019: Enjoy the free Brown Bag Concert Series at Phillippi Estate Park every Thursday from noon - 1 p.m. through March 31. March 29, 2019: Get your toes tapping at "Jazz at Two" featuring the James Suggs Trio. One of the finest trumpet players in the Bay area, James Suggs, originally from Harrisburg, PA, has toured and recorded with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and many top jazz artists. March 29, 2019: It's Music in the Park at the Riverwalk in Bradenton. Bring a picnic basket, blankets or chairs, and your furry companions on leashes to the Bradenton Riverwalk Mosaic Amphitheater and enjoy the show featuring Passerine—for free! March 29, 2019: Experience the 7th annual Wine Walk to Ca' d'Zan! Taste fine wine and delight in delicious food pairings as you stroll along the drive to the mansion. March 29, 2019: It's the 2nd Annual SW Florida 5K Sunset SCADaddle for Research. Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood type of heart attack. Most patients are younger healthy women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms. The chip timed SCADaddle Sunset Run/Walk will take place at Payne Park in Sarasota. The two lap course runs through and around the park on a varied terrain of crushed cinder, concrete sidewalk and grass. Award ceremony will take place at approximately 7:15 pm. Other activities include a raffle, kids run, a live Island-style band, hula-hoop fun, and massages from Massage Envy will round out a fun Friday night for the entire family!  The Farmhouse food truck will be on site with fresh homemade doughnuts!  Registered participants receive (1) complimentary pasta dinner, doughnut, and beer.  More can be purchased!  6:30 p.m. Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota, FL. March 29 - 30, 2019: Check out the 10th Annual Suncoast BBQ & Bluegrass Bash at the Venice Airport Festival Grounds featuring chicken, ribs, pork and beef brisket.  There are numerous events open to the public and there will be numerous BBQ teams competing for a $20,000 cook-off contest purse, plus live music with the Lonesome River Band among numerous other bands along with a chili cook off, kids park and more. March 30, 2019: It's the Little Circus Angel Scavenger Hunt designed for “children of all ages” who will explore Sarasota’s rich circus history. Teams will travel in their vehicles to locations throughout Sarasota to collect clues to solve circus-related riddles. The winning team will be awarded a dinner aboard an authentic circus train dining car. The scavenger hunt is a benefit for the Showpeople’s Winter Quarters, a retirement village for showpeople. Tickets for the Circus Angel Scavenger Hunt, priced as a $25 donation, may be purchased at St. Martha's Church office or by reservation by calling (941) 302-0054. March 30, 2019: You are invited to The 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemoration to honor Vietnam Veterans. The commemoration, at Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery will feature Master of Ceremonies Rear Addmiral Brian McCarthy USN (Ret.) along with patriotic music from the Brass Quintet and soloist, Miss Tampa, Laura Nielsen plus color guard. Hosted by the Military Officers Association of Sarasota, a commemorative Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin will be awarded to all who service in the U.S. Armed Forces from 11/1/55 - 5/15/75. March 30, 2019: It's the 5th Annual Beer, Bands, and BBQ with live music, BBQ inspired food, and vendors. Live acts will include: Kaleidogroove, Trey Wanvig Band, Experimental Farm Road, The Barker Project, The House Brand Band, Blue Kangaroos, Los Rojos, Red Vibes, Unspoken and Trio. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Food trucks and beer will be available throughout the day.
