April  1, 2021: Sarasota's Bayfront Park has been the backdrop for Embracing Our Differences' colorful, larger-than-life canvases integrating powerful imagery and thought-provoking messages celebrating diversity. The scale and impact of this outdoor exhibition has continued to grow, attracting over two million visitors since its inception. April 1, 2021: The SCF Symphonic Band Presents an April Fools’ Day Concert called “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! and Other Music You Won’t Believe.” Along with “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!” the concert will feature band works such as “Voodoo” and “Snakes.” Brace yourself for a fun, scary and unbelievable evening! 7:30 p.m. SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W., Braenton, FL. The performance will only be available for viewing free of charge through a livestream at Facebook.com/SCFMusicProgram.

April 1 - 22, 2021: It's Oscar Scherer State Park’s Virtual 32nd Annual Sarasota Earth Day! The National Earth Day theme this year is “Restore Our Earth.” Oscar Scherer has partnered with local environmental organizations this year to bring you a virtual event. 22 ways in 22 days countdown will begin April 1st. Visit the Friends of Oscar Scherer Facebook page daily for an organization fun video, action item, and scavenger hunt. Message your scavenger hunt answers, send us a picture of you doing a posted action item to our page and be entered into the prize drawing. 2 entries per person per day. More visits, more hunts and actions, more chances to win.

April 2, 2021: A Stations Of The Cross observance will be held. Sarasota congregations will observe The Stations of The Cross down the center of Main Street with an estimated 1,000 pilgrims in downtown Sarasota, Florida, stopping for each of the 14 Station's readings, prayers and choruses led by over 20 Sarasota congregations. The Christian pilgrimage gathers at 7:15 AM and begins at 7:30 AM on Main Street at the Hollywood 11 Theater. For those who want to park at the final station at the Church of the Redeemer Episcopal Church, Siesta Trolley will be transporting pilgrims from Redeemer Church beginning at 6:30 AM to Hollywood 11. The final station is at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave. and will be reached near 8:30 AM, when all are invited to a Service of Morning Prayer (Matins). This Year all Covid precautions will be observed with temperature checks, hand sanitizer, masks required at the outside observance. All will receive a Service Booklet while checking in at the Covid safety Stations in front of Hollywood 11 Theater. April 2, 2021: Canceled for 2021. It's the annual Hernando De Soto Children’s Parade! The 2021 theme is “Dive into Reading” and the floats this year should  emulate the kid's favorite book, author, or be based around literature. Also for the  fifteenth year,  they  will  be awarding $1,000 to the participating school who’s float entry best represents this year’s theme. Three additional $500 prizes. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds and ends with the "Party in the Park" until 2 p.m. at Sutton & Lamb Parks, Palmetto, FL. 

April 2, 2021: CANCELED for 2021. It's the Annual Jungle Trails and Bunny Tails featuring continuous Easter Egg Hunts from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., a petting zoo, live bunny interactions, photos with the Easter Bunny available for purchase, plus bird, reptile and wildlife wonder shows and more from face painting to pony rides. April 2, 2021: A new season of Music in the Park is replaced by Music in the Park(ing) Lot in 2021 with live music from: Ariella (Ari and the Alibis)-Jazz Blues. You can stay in your car in a parking space or bring chairs to put in a parking space (only 4 people per space). If it rains, the concert will move inside MPAC for the first 99 people with reservations. Masks are required inside MPAC. The event will also be live streaming rain (inside) or shine (outside) to the Realize Bradenton Facebook page and website. Tickets will be available to make a reservation the Monday before each event. April 2, 2021: Canceled for 2021 until further notice. It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch is from 6 p.m. -  9 p.m with The Daisy Dukes Band, who will fill the air with good times & hot country jams. Beer, wine and food sales. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

April 2, 2021: The GLOW Table Dinner is coming to downtown Sarasota. Enjoy a delightful evening of entertainment including DJ service by SRQ Beats for your musical enjoyment and a variety of talented cirque performers exhibiting their skills on a rotating basis between meal courses. Three course fine dining dinner with a selection of 4 entrees to choose from. Complimentary beer, wine and coffee are included in ticket price. Tax and gratuity are included in ticket price as well. Tickets can be purchased in groups, by table size, to accommodate 4, 6, 8, or 10 people. A limited number of single tickets are also available and will be seated based on available capacity. If you purchase more than one single ticket you will be seated together. Limited Individual Tickets are $150/person. Sharks tooth festival Venice Florida

April 2 -  4, 2021: Canceled for 2021. Want to go hunting for Shark tooth fossils? Want a simple and inexpensive way to do it? Then attend the 28th Annual Venice Sharks Tooth Festival on the Airport Festival Grounds in Venice, Florida on Airport Avenue. Admission is only $5, kids under 12 are free and there's even free parking at this, one of the spring's most popular fests held at the Venice Airport Festival grounds. There are fossils, food, arts and crafts, entertainment and children's activities. No pets allowed. April 2 - 13, 2020: The La Musica board of directors has voted to cancel the 2021 festival season. The critically-acclaimed La Musica International Chamber Music Festival celebrates 34 seasons this year with four concerts. Joining Artistic Director Bruno Giuranna (violist) and Associate Artistic Director Derek Han (pianist) this season are violinists Zachary DePue, Jennifer Frautschi, Anastasiya Petryshak; violist Daniel Palmizio; cellists Dmitri Atapine, Christine J. Lee; harpist Ann Hobson Pilot; pianist Steven Lin; violist Daniel Palmizio; Dee Moses on double bass; and Brandon Ridenour on trumpet. Ridenour’s arrangement of four John Lennon/Paul McCartney songs for trumpet and string quintet is featured in the April 10 concert. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Siesta Key Gazebo south of the pavilion. The one-mile fun run or walk begins at 7:30 a.m. The 5-K Run begins at 8 a.m. The entry fee benefits the Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory. 388-4441 xt 357. 

April 3, 2021: Bring the little ones to the Siesta Key Children's Easter Egg Hunt & Party for ages 1 - 6 at Turtle Beach. This family-friendly event is open to children ages 1-6 ($10 per child). The egg hunt is open to children ages 1-6. It's $10 per child with a goody bag for each! Advance registration is required; 175 limit. Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. There will be Kona Ice and photos with the Easter Bunny, a fire truck & ambulance drive by at 10 AM, games and prizes and an animal education session with Stella the Sloth! Advance registration required for egg hunt. Free parking is available on site. The free Siesta Breeze Trolley service will begin at 8:00 on that morning and will be making rounds approximately every thirty minutes from SK Village to Turtle Beach. Event is 9 am - Noon. April 3, 2021: Hippity hoppity, the Easter Bunny is on his way to downtown Venice from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.! Fun for the whole family, ideal for ages 12 and under. Visit historic downtown Venice to hunt for Easter eggs throughout the district on Tampa, Venice, Miami, & Nokomis Avenues. Adults, please help children search for eggs in participating stores marked with the Bunny sign. Volunteers will be stationed at crosswalks to help with safety. The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance at the Gazebo in Centennial Park. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER each family member attending for your one hour time slot. To keep everyone safe, please wear your masks and follow CDC guidelines. Ideal event for ages 12 and under. Parental supervision of children is required. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

April 3, 2021: Canceled for 2021. Hippity Hop Hop! Lakewood Ranch hosts its "EGGstravaganza" Easter Egg Hunt at Greenbrook Adventure Park for kids ages 2 -13. The day's events and attractions also feature the grand arrival of the Easter Bunny. Bring your own baskets to collect eggs in. Also, Face painting, balloon art, music and refreshments are just a few of the other activities to enjoy. In past years: For residents: $5 per adult, $3 for children, 2 and under are free. Advance registration required starting 30 days in advance. The Sandbar Restaurant will host its 34th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9:30 a.m. sharp at the Pavilion at the Sandbar (ok to arrive at 8:30 a.m.). Make sure to bring your own basket(s) for the Easter Egg Hunt. They will also hold their 11th annual Easter Egg Roll and will have 2 Easter Bonnet contests, one for Adults and one for children. Judging is at 10 a.m. 1st prize for Adults is a 2 night stay at one of the Pine Avenue Guest Houses and 1st prize for the Children's contest is lunch at the Sandbar Restaurant with four of their BFF’s including Ice Cream Sundaes. Activities will also include photos with the Easter bunny, coloring table, face painting, DJ, cupcakes and treats and Mimosas and continental breakfast for adults. April 3, 2021: Postponed to September 18, 2021. It's Smithsonian Magazine's Annual Museum Day. Museum Day is a one-day event in which participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. Participants are allowed to download one ticket per email address. The ticket provides free general admission on Saturday, September 18, 2021, for two people. In celebration of Museum Day you will enjoy free admission to the Ringling Museum of Art and Ringling Circus Museum. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 5401 Bay Shore Road Sarasota, FL. April 3, 2021: Canceled for 2021. The City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation Department invites you to join in for a hoppin’ good time for an Easter egg hunt in the pool! April 3, 2021: The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall announces Bay Music Live! Rebel Heart will return to the Van Wezel for this socially distanced, outdoor show on the lawn and terrace. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with music starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. Lawn spaces and tables will be arranged for social distancing, and guests can enjoy fresh air and a stroll on the Mangrove Bayou Walkway.  Tickets go on sale Friday, March 12 at 10 a.m. Lawn spaces on the grass accommodating up to 4 guests are $70. Guests reserving lawn spaces are encouraged to bring seating or blankets for their respective spaces if they do not want to sit directly on the grass. Spaces will be pre-arranged and marked by Van Wezel staff. Live entertainment, a silent auction, yummy samples from local chefs, beer and wine tasting and more. 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Tickets are $70 in advance, $75 the day of the event at the gate. The State College of Florida Foundation will host “Come Sail Away,” a fun-filled family gathering featuring music, food and fireworks at the annual Evening Under the Stars. Bring your friends, coolers and lawn chairs to enjoy The Venice Symphony and the SCF Big Band performing your favorite cruising music from The Beach Boys, Christopher Cross, Sheryl Crow, the Beatles and more, topped off with a grand fireworks finale. General admission tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Children under 10 are free. Reserved general admission tickets are $30 in advance and allow reserved ticket holders to enter from noon to 2 p.m. to secure premium seating. Tickets can be purchased online at SCF-Foundation.org/EUS. In case of rain, the event will be held Sunday, April 5. April 4, 2021: Easter Sunrise Service - Pine Shores Presbyterian Church hosts its 61st Easter Sunday sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. at Siesta Key Beach near the pavilion. Bring a beach chair or blanket. April Sarasota Events on Escape-to-Sarasota

April 4, 2021: Easter Sunrise Service - The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service near the Lido Beach Pavilion on Lido Key. It is recommended that you bring your own chair or a blanket as seating is very limited. All are welcome and dress is casual. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. April Sarasota Events on Escape-to-Sarasota.

April 4, 2021: Join the Tabernacle Church for The Living Nativity Theatre. Due to COVID restrictions the annual gathering at Bayfront/Island Park for the sunrise service will take place on the church's campus. Easter Sunrise Service The DeSoto Society’s annual Service starts at 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Sunday on the Manatee River at the Mosaic Amphitheater in Rossi Waterfront Park, 452 3rd Ave W, Bradenton and it's open to the public.

April 4, 2021: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666. (They will be asking all in attendance to wear masks. We will be blocking off bleacher seats to allow for social distanced seating, as well as social distancing while on property at Ski-A-Rees Stadium.)

April 4, 2021: TBD. All Suncoast Concert Band Dates Depend on Corona Virus 19 Regulations. Enjoy a concert by the Sarasota Suncoast Concert Band. Showtime is 3 p.m. Admission is $5. April 4, 2021: Canceled for 2021 due to COVID. Get your motor running at the 18th Annual "Building to a Cure" Benefit Classic Car Show featuring classic and vintage vehicles from pre-1950s - 1990s. Always a great show with cars from every era on display for close up viewing. Participants compete for 28 Trophies. April 5 - May 17, 2021: Enjoy the Bayfront Gardens at The Ringling for Acoustic Sunsets with a solo musician on Ca' d'Zan Terrace! This socially distanced event will feature live music with food and drink for purchase. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Masks are encouraged when social distancing isn't possible. Enjoy a relaxing evening of music during sunset. Sandwiches, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase on the terrace, and The Ringling Grillroom is offering other tasty items for pre-order. Please pre-order your items 24 hours in advance. For pick-up, just stop by The Ringling Grillroom in the Visitors Pavilion. Orders can be available after 4:00 pm. $20 / $18 Members. Tickets will be available 30 days prior to each event. April 7, 2021: Enjoy world-class performances by local performing arts organizations at the Sunken Garden on Little Sarasota Bay. This performance is by Strings Con Briot, A Little Night Music.Historic Spanish Point Campus.  6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Food and beverages available for purchase. April 7 - 8, 2020: TBD for 2021. It's a free concert with live music on Tuesday with the Happy Time Band and Wednesday with the Gentlemen of Jazz. Enjoy the tunes from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. These free concerts take place in Centennial Park's Gazebo in downtown Venice, FL.

Art in the Park is celebrating its 21st year presenting an impressive array of visual arts for exhibit and sale.  Over the years Art in the Park has become a stellar event in the Sarasota and Bradenton art scene. The show has grown to include over 150 pieces of art; the range and quality of work are truly impressive. All visitors are invited to vote in the much coveted People’s Choice award. Three local professional jurors, with expertise ranging from painting to photography, will judge the event for cash prizes.

April 15, 2021: The Bridge Jazz Concert series is a collaborative project with the Jazz Club of Sarasota, Fogartyville/WSLR, and SAMBA, a group of area jazz enthusiasts anxious to bridge the void of excellent jazz performances created by the pandemic.The third show in the Concert Series features the groups Michael Ross Trio with Fred Johnson and another group TBA.Bassist Michael Ross heads the trio with Fred Johnson, a dynamic jazz and world music vocalist, who has been compared to greats such as Jon Hendricks and Al Jarreau. The group performs classic straight ahead jazz and standards. The live-streamed event will allow for a very limited live audience with safe and responsible social distancing. If you don't mind a short drive the downtown streets of Tampa host the Annual Gasparilla Festival from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. An expanded Pirate Fest in 2020 will feature stages along the Riverwalk in downtown Tampa. The Gasparilla Parade Of Pirates is from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. and begins at Bay to Bay and Bayshore Boulevard. It continues along Bayshore Boulevard to Brorein Street, turns east on Brorein Street, then north on Ashley Drive. The parade ends at Cass Street & Ashley Drive. April 18 - May 31, 2021:The Tampa Bay Rays have announced registration is now open for the second annual Running with the Rays, a virtual 5K race, presented by United Concordia Dental. All proceeds benefit the Rays Baseball Foundation and Rowdies Soccer Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization and the official charity of the Rays and Rowdies. The Running with the Rays virtual 5K allows fans to run, jog, walk or roll the 3.1 miles at their own pace and at the location of their choice anytime between May 1-31. Participants have the option to upload their race time to the Running with the Rays 5K results platform and share photos on social media using #Rays5K. April 18 - July 23, 2021:The Bradenton Marauders are accepting video submissions for National Anthem performers for the 2021 season. Those wishing to perform The Star Spangled Banner or O Canada must send a video recording of their performance to MaraudersInfo@pirates.com. Performers may submit either a vocal or instrumental performance along with their name. Individuals and groups are welcome to submit. Each selected performance will be played on the LECOM Park video board prior to the first pitch of a Marauders game. Prospective singers must feel comfortable performing in front of a camera and have a good audio set up. Videos must be submitted in a .mp4 format. They must be filmed in a landscape format. April 24, 2021: Enjoy the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade, a parade for all ages to see with over 150 parade entries. The  parade will follow its traditional route down 9th Avenue West to 39th Street West and continue down Manatee Avenue to 9th Street West and will feature beautifully decorated floats and krewes from throughout the Tampa Bay  area. Historically, it has been on of the largest parades in Florida.This year’s parade is entitled “A Salute to Our Healthcare Hero’s ” and will honor the healthcare workers who braved the COVID epidemic to care for the area’s sick. Traditionally, the parade introduces the newly elected Hernando de Soto, the Captain of the Crewe of De Soto, the new Queen, her  Princess, and the Queen’s Court.  However, because the pandemic cancelled virtually all the Society’s events last year, Hernando de Soto 74 David Bailey, Captain Curt Mahoney, Queen Denver Romano, and Princess Megan Mitchell – elected in 2020, will  be featured in this year’s parade and will remain  throughout the 2021- 22 year. Various speakers from the county, Sheriff's Office, Red Cross and Suncoast Humane Society are also planned among others through the event. It is a free fly in for all to attend with plenty of free parking, handicap parking and is a wheel chair friendly flying field. Sun shelters are available with ceiling fans. Bring your own chairs and sunscreen. Food available. Free admission. Directions: The field is located 3 miles east on Bee Ridge Road (at the east end of Bee Ridge Road) in the Sarasota County Rothenback Park. April 25, 2021: This concert season, Sarasota Orchestra expands its community engagement tour known as “SO on the Road” to bring live music into local parks and cultural destinations. While admission is free, attendees will be required to register to hold a seat at performances. Registration will open on Eventbrite one month prior to concerts. April 25, 2021: Event Canceled for 2021. It's the 19th Annual "Ride The Beaches" scenic bike rides sponsored by Sharky's on the Pier. There's a 70 mile, 35 mile and 15 mile ride. Check in and breakfast starts at 6:00 a.m. The 70 mile ride starts at 7:30 a.m. The 35 mile ride begins at 8 a.m. The 15 mile ride begins at 9 a.m. All riders will start the day with breakfast on the beach at Sharky’s. Breakfast will be fresh fruit, juice, bagels, fruit bread, and coffee. All rest stops will be stocked with water, sports drink, fresh fruit, snacks and/ or sandwiches. April 25, 2021: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 388-1666. (They will be asking all in attendance to wear masks. We will be blocking off bleacher seats to allow for social distanced seating, as well as social distancing while on property at Ski-A-Rees Stadium.)

April 25 - 26, 2020: Siesta Fiesta took place last October, 2020. No word if it will return to April in 2021 or 2022. It's the always popular 42nd annual Siesta Fiesta which takes place in Siesta Key Village from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's sort of a farewell party for all of our “snowbird” friends from the colder climates of the northern U.S, Canada and afar, who come to be with us in Sarasota throughout the winter season. The Greatest "little Show on Earth" celebrates the tradition of the circus arts with more than 100 young circus artists. April 30, 2021: The last show of the season of Music in the Park is replaced by Music in the Park(ing) Lot in 2021 with live music from: The Divebombers-Good ol' American. You can stay in your car in a parking space or bring chairs to put in a parking space (only 4 people per space). If it rains, the concert will move inside MPAC for the first 99 people with reservations. Masks are required inside MPAC. The event will also be live streaming rain (inside) or shine (outside) to the Realize Bradenton Facebook page and website. Tickets will be available to make a reservation the Monday before each event. April 30 - May 9, 2021: The Annual Sarasota Film Festival, is one of the year's biggest events. It's 10 days of movies, celebrities and parties when Hollywood comes to Sarasota! The 23rd Annual Sarasota Film Festival will take place both in person and virtually this year. The box office opens Thursday, April 15th. More details will be announced in the upcoming weeks.The Sarasota Film Festival is a staple in Sarasota and the film community, drawing over 50,000 patrons, who gather to celebrate the best in cinema. Over the last two decades, the festival has screened groundbreaking films, documentaries and shorts that deliver key messages to audiences, as well as engaging them in conversations with actors, filmmakers and industry professionals.The Sarasota Film Festival is a favored destination for filmmakers, national press, industry executives and stars. Hollywood Stars that appeared here in 2019 were Greg Kinnear, Blythe Danner, Anne Heche,and Tyne Daily. Hollywood Stars who made appearances in 2018 included actress Virginia Madsen and actor Steve Guttenberg, who received a career achievement award from the festival. The 2017 Film Festival included Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, and Aisha Tyler. Actors Stanley Tucci, and Rosanna Arquette, who took part in the "In Conversation With" series, also attended the 2017 festival. On the 2016 appearance agenda were actresses and actors: Sophia Loren, Olympia Dukakis, George Hamilton, Mathew Modine, and Treat Williams.
