April 1, 2023: It's the 37th Annual Run/walk for the Turtles sponsored by Mote Marine on Siesta Key Public Beach. Run, walk or crawl to support Mote's sea turtle conservation and research!  6:30 a.m. - Packet pick up & race day registration opens, 7:00 a.m. - Warm Up! 7:30 a.m. - 1 Mile Fun Run, 8:00 a.m. - 5K Run sanctioned by Manasota Track Club, Award ceremony to follow 5K. Race registration (for both the 1 Mile Fun Run & 5K) includes a complimentary race t-shirt, access to the food station, kids activities area & more! April 1, 2023: Bring the kids out to EGGstravaganza at Waterside Park for an Easter celebration including fun activities, entertainment and of course- an egg hunt! the longest-running egg hunt in Lakewood Ranch! Thousands of fun-filled Easter eggs will be spread out over the beautiful Waterside Park, separated by age groups, (ages 3-5 & 6+) for children to have fun finding. Make sure to grab a photo with the Easter bunny and then get your face painted while enjoying some of the wonderful food and refreshment options. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store! April 1, 2023: Check out the Annual Florida Wine Brunch and Charity Auction for a bayfront champagne reception followed by a 4-course seated and served brunch by Chef Paul Mattison featuring fine wines, caviar and “no calorie” desserts, just fooling. Guests will enjoy live music provided by the Foolharmonic Band, a Mystery Box Raffool, and a Live Auction hosed by Charles Foley of Christie’s London. April 1, 2023:It's the Wild About Nature Festival, a day of fun and outdoor adventure. Reconnect with the great outdoors and help foster a love of nature in the next generation as you spend a day in the sun on the beautiful shores of Little Sarasota Bay at Bay Preserve. Families of all ages are encouraged to take part in this fun-filled day of nature-based education and exploration. The wide variety of activities include dip-netting, face painting, hula-hoop lessons, crafts, games, and more including a fossil dig, tree climbing, arts and crafts. There will be live music and food trucks, too. This is a FREE family festival open to all.  Registration is not required. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Bay Preserve at Osprey, 400 Palmetto Ave., Osprey, FL

April 1, 2023: It's an Aqua Egg Hunt at Arlington Park & Aquatic Complex! Hunt for eggs at the Arlington Park & Aquatic Complex! Youth will enjoy hunting for eggs in the pool while they look for the “golden” egg to win prizes! 1 p.m.: 4 yrs. & younger. All children 4 and under must have a guardian join them in the pool. 1:20 p.m.: 5 – 8 yrs. old. 1:40 p.m.: 9 – 12 yrs. old (shallow). 2 p.m. 9 - 12 yrs old (deep). Fee: $2 per child. April 1, 2023: The Sarasota Film Festival's "In Conversation With..." series features in-depth interviews with iconic Hollywood artists led by a member of the national press. This year's festival's "In Conversation Luncheon" is with Roma Downey. Join in for a unique opportunity to learn from and experience the contemporary architects of cinema first-hand. April 1, 2023: The Manatee Community Concert Band performs "Make it a Broadway Night" featuring some of your all time favorite show tunes. April 1 - 2, 2023: It's the Sarasota Open Air Fine Art Show. This quality juried fine art and fine craft show bring artists with all disciplines to sell their original and personally handmade art. The focus is visual arts and fine arts and fine crafts created by award-winning artists from around the world with all disciplines for sale – paintings, clay, glass, sculpture, fiber, wood, jewelry, and more. April 2, 2023: Enjoy Sarasota's own Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team and their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m. 941-388-1666.

April 3, 2024:  It's a free concert with live music with the Gentlemen of Jazz, which recreates the New Orleans Preservation Hall style of jazz. April 3, 2023: Come out for Ringling by the Bay featuring live music and dancing with the Billy Rice Band on the Bolger Campiello. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets will be available approx. one month prior to each event, and will include a 24 hour pre-sale period for members. Members please note: $10 tickets are limited to one for Individual Memberships and two for all other Membership levels. Additionally, members may purchase up to four additional tickets at full price ($20) during the pre-sale period. Tickets are limited and will be available on a first come-first serve basis. April 4, 2023: The Fan Favorite Event, Meet the Marauders is returning to LECOM Park on April 4. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. A formal announcement of the roster will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m.. There will be plenty of activities for fans of all ages including corn hole, a photo booth, and inflatables. There is no charge to enter the event. Concessions will be available for purchase. April 4 - 28, 2023: Sarasota County will celebrate Arbor Day with tree workshops and adoptions. In celebration of National Arbor Day on April 28, Sarasota County is holding tree workshops throughout the county where participants can walk away with a native tree.“The Suncoast region lost a significant number of trees from Hurricane Ian,” said Forest Hecker, Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ specialist with UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County. “As we replant our properties, let us be mindful of what we plant, avoiding nuisance invasives and focusing on Florida-friendly trees.” The one-hour “Florida-Friendly Landscaping™: Planting Trees for the Suncoast” classes, offered on various April dates and at locations across Sarasota County and online, will showcase trees that thrive in the Suncoast area, with an emphasis on native trees, flowering trees, and edible fruit and nut trees. April 5, 2023: TBA for 2023. Check out NBP Rec Day! This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger. Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more) All must complete the waiver form. April 6, 2023: The Music Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will presentOld Blue Eyes is Back” at the SCF Neel Performing Arts Center. Fly from New York to Las Vegas in this rowdy tribute to Frank Sinatra and the rate pack of crooners. SCF Jazz welcomes amazing vocalist Scotty Wright for a concert of big band classics. Wright has demonstrated his soaring jazz vocals from Bangkok to Los Angeles. April 7, 2023: It's the annual Hernando De Soto Children’s ParadeThis year’s theme is “Manatee’s Got Talent”. Your float, and or group performance should showcase your special talent! Also, this year, we will be awarding $1,000 to the participating group who’s float entry best represents this year’s theme. Three additional $500 prizes. The parade starts at 10 a.m. The parade lines up at Manatee County Fair Grounds and 15th Street West in Palmetto and ends at Sutton and Lamb Parks. After the parade "Party in the Park," presented by the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County, at Sutton & Lamb Parks goes until 2:00 pm. There will be free resources and information for parents, while children can enjoy games, face painting, arts and crafts, and more!

April 7, 2023: A Stations Of The Cross observance will be held. Twenty-three Sarasota congregations will participate in a Stations of the Cross pilgrimage down the center of Main Street on Good Friday, April 7. An estimated 1,000 pilgrims will gather for the event, which includes stops at 14 Stations with readings, prayers, and songs. This will be the 22nd year the Sarasota Ministerial Association joins Church of the Redeemer in planning the event. Mayor Kyle Scott Battie and Sarasota County Commissioner Joe Neunder will present the First STATION. The pilgrimage is three quarters of a mile long. Pilgrims will be inspired by the Men Of Vision, Light Of The World Church, Male Ensemble providing sacred music and choral support. Pilgrims begin to gather at 7 a.m. and the pilgrimage starts at 7:20 a.m. on Main Street at the Regal Hollywood movie theater, 1993 Main St., Sarasota, FL. For those who would like to park at the final station (Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave.), complimentary Siesta Trolley service will transport pilgrims from Redeemer to Regal Hollywood starting at 6 a.m. The pilgrimage will conclude at about 8:30 a.m. A Sarasota Police Department escort will be controlling traffic and providing security. April 7, 2023: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch is from 6 p.m. -  9 p.m. Kettle of Fish will fill the air with original music that is an amalgam of rock, blues, reggae and New Orleans soul; the deejay will keep you dancing with today’s Top 100 hits; and the event will benefit the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance. Beer, wine and food sales. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. April 7, 2023: It's the final 2023 Moon Over Myakka Fundraising Concert at the South Pavilion with Wandering Hours playing neo-traditional mountain folk music combines contemporary songwriting with an old-timey feel. Banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and upright bass underscore the band's thoughtful lyrics and storytelling. Tickets: $25 per person, $20 for Friends of Myakka River Members. April 8, 2023: It's the annual Siesta Key Easter Egg HuntNew this year, the Egg Hunt will be held on the Siesta Key Chapel's shade-covered grounds. Come join in this fun-filled morning. Live animals, goody bags. Take photos with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy children's games and activities. Advance registration is required for the Egg Hunt. Participation in the Egg Hunt is limited to 200 children ages 1-6. Please bring a bag or basket for your child to put his or her eggs in. All registered children receive a goody bag. April 8, 2023: It's the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Children's Garden. Each child can collect 12 eggs filled with treats and treasures to bring home. If you're lucky, you might find the rare GOLDEN EGG, or one of three other eggs with a prize ticket inside. We will be joined for a visit by "somebunny" very special - the Easter Bunny!- who will hand out prizes to the winners and stay for photos. We'll also have an Easter craft for after you've collected your eggs. This event is included with admission and free for garden members (while eggs last). April 8, 2023: It's an Easter Egg Drop! A 50,000 Easter Egg helicopter drop. Activities for all ages sponsored by Coast Life Church. Food trucks, Face painting, bounce houses, and other actives. 10 am: Doors open. 10:30 a.m.: First egg drop (ages 1-6). 11:30 a.m.: Second egg drop (ages 7-11). 12:00 p.m.: End of event. April 8, 2023: The Newtown community will host an Egg Hunt and Cookout at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St, Sarasota, FL., from noon to 4 p.m. There will be plenty of colorful eggs for the little ones to collect, games, music and tempting bites from the grill. Newtown is geographically bordered by Hwy. 301 to the east; Bradenton Road to the west; Myrtle Street to the north and 17th Street to the south, with Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in the center.

April 9, 2023: Kiwanis of Anna Maria Island will celebrate the 58th anniversary of the Easter Sunrise Service held at the Manatee County Public Beach. All the Island churches participate. The crowd normally numbers 1,200- 2,000 people. There is ample parking. Trolley will be up and running at 6:00 a.m. The Anna Maria Beach Café will also open at 6:30 a.m.. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on and dress to the weather. To view the Easter Sunrise Service LIVE at home you will need to go directly to You-Tube and type in: "Kiwanis of AMI Easter Sunrise Service."

April 9, 2023Easter Sunrise Service The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service near the Lido Beach Pavilion on Lido Key and Live Streaming. It is recommended that you bring your own chair or a blanket as seating is very limited. All are welcome and dress is casual. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. April Sarasota Events on Escape-to-Sarasota.

April 9, 2023: Easter Sunrise Service takes place at the Riverwalk Amphitheater at 6:30 a.m. Sunday on the Manatee River in Rossi Waterfront Park, 452 3rd Ave W, Bradenton and it's open to the public with Loving Hands Ministry.

April 9, 2023: Easter Sunrise Service at the lake front at the Lakefront Campus of First Baptist Church of Venice. 7 a.m. 3100 Executive Dr., Venice, FL.

April 9, 2023: Hope City Church presents the Sarasota Egg Drop. 10,000 Easter eggs will fall from the sky behind Tatum Ridge Elementary School, 4100 Tatum Rd, Sarasota, FL. The Egg Drop is part of Hope City Church’s Easter Celebration which includes a church service, music, programming for kids, and a message of hope from Lead Pastor Peter Gowesky. April 9, 2023: It's The Newtown Spring Fling Festival & Parade with the parade starting at 2 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Osprey, then heading west to Cocoanut Avenue. Parade particpants still welcome. Post-parade festivities will include live music, vendors and food trucks located adjacent to the historic Leonard Reid house at MLK Way and Orange Ave. Everyone is invited to attend this free Sarasota event, enjoy the sense of community and start a new family tradition! 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. Newtown is geographically bordered by Hwy. 301 to the east; Bradenton Road to the west; Myrtle Street to the north and 17th Street to the south, with Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in the center.

April 9, 2023: The Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents Cheryl Losey Feder, harp, and Abraham Feder, cello with a program which includes their own transcriptions of music by Bach and Johann Strauss, Jr. The couple met when they began their orchestral careers on the same day in 2008 as they assumed principal positions in the Sarasota Orchestra. He is now assistant principal cellist of the Detroit Symphony and she a sought-after soloist, chamber musician and recording artist. 4:00 p.m. at Temple Sinai, 4631 S Lockwood Ridge Rd, Sarasota, FL. April 14, 2023: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with Tom Carabasi and Latin/Samba Sounds. Tom Carabasi, originally from Philadelphia, is a drummer and percussionist. Carabasi has performed and recorded with many of the area’s top jazz artists. In 2001 he arranged and produced a CD entitled “Portraits in Black and White” with an assortment of Brazilian and jazz standards featuring Kenny Drew Jr. on piano. The recording was voted one of the top new CD’s by jazz radio, WUSF, Tampa. Carabasi is also the department head of photography and design at Ringling

April 20, 2023: The Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents Guitarist JIJI who was selected by the Washington Post as "one of the 21 composers/performers who sound like tomorrow." Her virtuosic performances of music range from traditional classical to free improvisation, played on both acoustic and electric guitar. April 21, 2023: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with James Suggs and Friends. One of the finest jazz trumpeters in the Bay area, James Suggs, is from Harrisburg, PA. Suggs earned his music degrees at Youngtown State U and USF Tampa. At the age of 16, he began playing professionally in northeast Ohio and Suggs has toured with the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras. Much in demand in the area, he has performed with Houston Person, Ken Peplowski, John Lamb, La Lucha and others. Suggs has performed critically acclaimed tribute shows to Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Harry James. His CD, You’re Gonna Hear From Me , has received rave reviews from critics. It's the always popular 42nd annual Siesta Fiesta which takes place in Siesta Key Village from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's sort of a farewell party for all of our “snowbird” friends from the colder climates of the northern U.S, Canada and afar, who come to be with us in Sarasota throughout the winter season. April 26, 2023: TBA for 2023. Check out NBP Rec Day! This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim — kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, a pedal pontoon boat, even a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger. Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more) All must complete the waiver form. April 27, 2023: The Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents Cameron Crozman, named "Canada's next big cello star" by CBC Music. He is making a name for himself as the next superstar of the classical music world. He will be joined by pianist Meagan Milatz in a program titled "Wanderlust," which features music inspired by composers' vacation trips. 11 a.m. Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd, Sarasota, FL performance is followed by lunch. April 28, 2023: The Friday Jazz at Two Concert Series returns with Rodney Rojas and New Profiles in Jazz. Jazz at Two series features big band jazz with the ten piece ensemble of Rodney Rojas New Profiles in Jazz. Enjoy jazz standards, blues, bossa nova and some favorites music from the American Songbook. Members include Dave DeWitt, Pete BarenBregge, Dave DeWitt, “STretch” Bruyn, Lenny Rojas, Kirk Reyes and Greg Caputo, among others. April 28, 2023: It's a new season of Music in the Park. On Friday evenings there are few better ways to relax and welcome in the weekend than listening to great local music in an outdoor setting. Thanks to this Realize Bradenton series, for seven Fridays you can enjoy the best in local music at the Rossi Park Pavilion on the Riverwalk. April 28, 2023: The DeSoto Heritage Festival Ball. An elegant, black-tie, evening where they crown a Queen and invest the newest Hernando de Soto in grand style with pomp and circumstance. April 29, 2023: Warriors on the Water and Catch Sarasota, presents the first SRQ Inshore Grand Slam. Captains meeting on April 27th 6pm at Hooters Sarasot. Check In Station open on April 29th 2023 from 3pm-6pm in Sarasota at Harts Landing. Torunament prize payouts will be 80% of collected entry fees. Check in open from 3pm -6pm – Captains Meeting at Hooters Sarasota April 27th 6 p.m., on site registration will be available – Outboard Entry Fee $250 – Kayak Entry Fee $100. April 29, 2023: It's a full day enjoying FREE hands-on family fun at the Palmetto Historical Park and Manatee County Agricultural Museum. Each site will be holding a Suncoast Remake Learning Event, as part of the 10-day Remake Learning Festival held in four area counties, including Manatee. From 10 AM to Noon, visit “Art in the Historical Park,” and create fun art projects related to the history of each building. From 1 PM to 3 PM, join the Agricultural Museum and Soar in 4 Manatee as they host “Butterfly Extravaganza” at the Ag Museum. Along with the free events, have lunch on the grounds with the Friends of Manatee County Agricultural Museum. For $3 per person, you can enjoy a hotdog lunch and purchase some goodies from their bake sale. Lunch will be available from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. It can be a full day of fun and food for you and your family along with lots of take-home goodies! April 29, 2023: Enjoy the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade, a parade for all ages to see with over 150 parade entries. The  parade will follow its traditional route down 9th Avenue West to 39th Street West and continue down Manatee Avenue to 9th Street West and will feature beautifully decorated floats and krewes from throughout the southwest Florida area. Historically, it has been on of the largest parades in Florida. Tens of thousands of people will line the streets of Bradenton to view the illuminated floats and catch a glimpse of the new Hernando DeSoto, Captain of Crewe and their newly crowned Queen and Princess.  Beads, coins and other fun items are handed to the crowd throughout the night. April 29, 2023: Canceled for 2023 due to potential bad weather. Check out some heavenly bodies during Sidewalk Astronomy courtesy of the local group of Deep Sky Observers. Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing from shortly after 8:00 p.m., and continuing until 10:30 p.m.. (weather permitting). You'll enjoy spectacular views of the first-quarter Moon as well as the planets Mars, Venus and a variety of deep sky objects. Southeast corner of Sarasota’s Celery Fields Park, 6893 Palmer Boulevard, Sarasota, FL. (Telescopes will be set up in the smaller staff parking lot on the east side of the Audubon building. (Please park in the larger, public parking lot on the western side of the building.)

April 30, 2023: Sharky's "Ride The Beaches" returns! They are scenic bike rides sponsored by Sharky's on the Pier. There's a 70 mile, 35 mile and 15 mile ride. Check in and breakfast starts at 6:00 a.m. The 70 mile ride starts at 7:30 a.m. The 35 mile ride begins at 8 a.m. The 15 mile ride begins at 9 a.m. 1,000 PARTICIPANT LIMIT!. All riders will start the day with breakfast on the beach at Sharky’s. Breakfast will be fresh fruit, juice, bagels, fruit bread, and coffee. All rest stops will be stocked with water, sports drink, fresh fruit, snacks and/ or sandwiches. BBQ lunch will be served on the beach at Sharky’s. Deveraux-Kaiser Collector Car Meet

April 30 2023: The Sarasota Firefighters Benevolent Fund presents the 52nd Annual Devereaux Kaiser Car Show featuring classic and antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Customs, hot rods, military and service vehicles 25 years and older only. Also celebrating 70 years of the Corvette. Plus food trucks, beer tent, and vendors. $5 donation. April 30, 2023: It's a Sarasota Orchestra Parks and Partners Performance as The Sarasota Brass Quintet will be performing popular favorites at G.T.
