April 2, 2027: The Jazz Club of Sarasota presents Jazz on a Friday Afternoon at Two. Skip Conkling and Dixie Mix plays some of your favorite Dixieland and swing tunes from down​ New Orleans way. They’ll have you toe tapping & finger snapping. Enjoy some familiar songs from the American songbook and jazz standards. April 3, 2026: It's Sarasota’s 25th Anniversary Good Friday STATIONS of the Cross Pilgrimage. Twenty-seven Ministers of fourteen Denominations will participate in the Good Friday, Stations of the Cross down the center of Main Street Sarasota. With four Ministerial Associations and Denominational Prelates participating, over 100 congregations are represented. What began in mid-15th century Jerusalem is now celebrated in over 200 nations on Good Friday of Holy Week. In past years, the pilgrimage was confined to the north sidewalk of Main Street. Since 2011, the Sarasota Police Department escort has facilitated the procession so pilgrims can safely walk down the center of Main Street. In 2025, over 1,000 pilgrims participated in this three-quarters of a mile journey. Twenty-four years ago, the Sarasota Ministerial Association began to co-host the observance with The Church of The Redeemer. Then, fewer than 15 souls participated, but their prayers now bear the fruit of hundreds experiencing what has become a Sarasota ‘Happening.’ Pilgrims begin to gather at 7 a.m. and the pilgrimage starts at 7:15 a.m. in front of the Regal Hollywood movie theater, 1993 Main Street, just off Washington Blvd., 301. For those who would like to park at the final Station location (Church of the Redeemer at 222 S. Palm Ave.), the Siesta Trolley will transport you to Regal Hollywood from Redeemer starting at 6 a.m. Pilgrims will reach the final Station at Church of the Redeemer, at about 8:30 a.m. At that time, all are invited to attend a brief Morning Prayer Service reflecting on Good Friday inside the church. April 3, 2026: It's the annual Hernando De Soto Children’s Parade and Party in the Park! One of the most adorable and heart-warming events you’ll ever see, this Parade puts the kids in charge. It’s pure and wholesome fun as floats engineered and built in schoolrooms and at home parade along the historic avenues of Palmetto, from the Manatee County Fairgrounds, south on 10th Avenue West and then along Fifth Street West to Lamb Park. April 3, 2026: It's a new season of Music in the Park. On Friday evenings there are few better ways to relax and welcome in the weekend than listening to great local music in an outdoor setting. You can enjoy the best in local music at the Rossi Park Pavilion on the Riverwalk. Tonight's music is by the Karen & Jimmy Band with Rock & Pop from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. - bring a chair or blanket for relaxing and listening! April 3, 2026: It's the first Friday of the month so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch is from 6 p.m. -  9 p.m. Silver Thunder Band will fill the air with classic hits from the 70’s and 80’s and the event will benefit Lakewood Ranch Community Fund. Beer, wine and food sales. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

April 3, 2026: It's the Moon Over Myakka Fundraising Concert at the South Pavilion lawn with with Passerine, acoustic folk with gorgeous harmonies and masterful musicianship. Tickets: $25 per person, $20 for Friends of Myakka River Members. Park entrance fee waived after 5 p.m. with concert ticket. April 4, 2026: This event has been canceled for 2026 due to unforeseen circumstances, according to the Chamer of Commerce. It's the annual Siesta Key Easter Egg Hunt. The Siesta Key Chamber and Siesta Key Chapel invite your little ones to the annual Siesta Key Easter Egg Hunt! The Egg Hunt will be held on the Chapel's shade-covered grounds. Come join in this fun-filled morning. Participation in the Egg Hunt is limited to 200 children. Please bring a bag or basket for your child to put his or her eggs in. Admission: $15 per child. Children ages 1-6 are eligible to participate in all Egg Hunt heats. April 4, 2026: Hoppity, the Easter Bunny is on his way to the Easter Eggstravaganza! Join in the Easter fun this year with an egg hunt in Centennial Park by the Gazebo! April 4, 2026: It's the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Children's Garden. Hippity Hop Down the Bunny Trail to find your Easter Eggs! Each child can collect 12 eggs filled with sweets to bring home - Some eggs even have a ticket inside for a special prize. Be sure to say hello to "somebunny" very special - the Easter Bunny! Meet and greet with opportunity for photos is included with the event price. The doors will open at 9:45am - The Hunt begins at 10 a.m. sharp and lasts until the eggs have been collected. Tickets will be available for sale in person at the gift shop or online through our website. April 4, 2026:The Newtown Easter Parade and Spring Fling and Easter Egg Hunt is back with it’s annual parade starting at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Osprey, then heading west to Cocoanut Avenue. (Parade participants still welcome.) Post-parade festivities will include live music, dance groups vendors and food trucks located adjacent to the historic Leonard Reid house at MLK Way and Orange Ave. Everyone is invited to attend this free Sarasota event, enjoy the sense of community and start a new family tradition! 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Newtown is geographically bordered by Hwy. 301 to the east; Bradenton Road to the west; Myrtle Street to the north and 17th Street to the south, with Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in the center, Sarasota, FL.

April 4, 2026: Thursday night's Bradenton Marauders opening day matchup against the Dunedin Bluejays was postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm EST with the second game following approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. April 5, 2026: Easter Sunrise Service. Kiwanis of Anna Maria Island will celebrate the 61st anniversary of the Easter Sunrise Service held at the Manatee County Public Beach with Island churches participating. The crowd normally numbers 1,200 - 2,000 people. There is ample parking. The Trolley will be up and running at 6:00 a.m. The Anna Maria Beach Café will also open at 6:30 a.m. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on and dress for the weather. April 20, 2025: Easter Sunrise Service The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service will be on campus due to sand replenishment on Lido Beach) 7:00 am behind the Palm Center. April 9, 2027: The Jazz Club of Sarasota presents Jazz on a Friday Afternoon at Two. Robert Nissim headlines Jazz at Two for the first time performing a Tribute to the Bill Evans Trio. Nissim’s trio performs stylistically faithful renditions of the music, including Evans’ own compositions as well as his unique arrangements of standards. Food trucks will be on-site and you’ll be able to enjoy a planetarium show for a small fee, in addition to the FREE telescopic observing in the north courtyard. April 10 -  19, 2026: The 28th Annual Sarasota Film Festival, is one of the year's biggest events and will feature a return appearance by the rock group KISS' Gene Simmons. It's 10 days of movies, celebrities and parties when Hollywood comes to Sarasota! Founded in 1998, the Sarasota Film Festival (SFF) has grown to be a ten-day festival that plays independent and international narratives, docs and shorts that are programmed into a schedule of over 200 films including features, themed shorts packages and additional programming sidebars that change each year to reflect the strengths of submitted films. The 26th Sarasota Film Festival will feature a lineup of films that includes 64 features, with 4 World Premieres, 1 North American Premiere, 7 East Coast Premieres, and 24 Florida Premieres; and 81 short films. The festival also hosts conversations with film stars, celebrity guests, events, parties, and educational programs to support the art of filmmaking. Festival events include socially-driven parties and private receptions to honor guest filmmakers, community-wide street festivals and the black-tie Filmmakers Tribute Dinner. SFF patrons have enjoyed intimate performances from Aerosmith and The B52's as well as a host of special appearances from local and international musicians.  The Sarasota Film Festival is a favored destination for filmmakers, national press, industry executives and stars. In 2022 Jacqueline Bisset was awarded the Sarasota Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award at the April 9th Closing Night screening of her project, LOREN & ROSE. Hollywood Stars that appeared here in 2019 were Greg Kinnear, Blythe Danner, Anne Heche, and Tyne Daily. Hollywood Stars who made appearances in 2018 included actress Virginia Madsen and actor Steve Guttenberg, who received a career achievement award from the festival. The 2017 Film Festival included Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, and Aisha Tyler. Actors Stanley Tucci, and Rosanna Arquette, who took part in the "In Conversation With" series, also attended the 2017 festival. On the 2016 appearance agenda were actresses and actors: Sophia Loren, Olympia Dukakis, George Hamilton, Mathew Modine, and Treat Williams. April 17 - 19, 2026: The annual Suncoast Boat Show takes place at downtown Sarasota's Bayfront Marina. 100s of watercraft on display. April 18, 2026: It's the De Soto Landing Event If you’ve ever wanted to watch conquistadors “capture” a city, this is your moment. Watch as Hernando De Soto and his Krewe make a dramatic entrance, heading down Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton to meet the Mayor. Kids will receive foam swords to help defend the Mayor, but… (spoiler alert) he’ll happily had over the key to the city in exchange for all the fun and entertainment they’ll bring over the coming week. As part of the celebration, the Queens Court will also be handing out beads to onlookers. April 25, 2026: Enjoy the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade, a parade for all ages to see with over 150 parade entries will feature beautifully decorated floats and krewes from throughout the southwest Florida area. Historically, it has been on of the largest parades in Florida. Tens of thousands of people will line the streets of Bradenton to view the illuminated floats and catch a glimpse of the new Hernando DeSoto, Captain of Crewe and their newly crowned Queen and Princess. Beads, coins and other fun items are handed to the crowd throughout the night. New Parade Route: The parade will now stage on Manatee Avenue between 1st Street and 9th Street West. This nine block section of Manatee Avenue will close at 12 PM on parade day with westbound Manatee Avenue traffic re-routed around the parade staging area via 9th Avenue W. East bound traffic will not be affected. As in past years, the remainder of Manatee Avenue from 9th Street W to 43rd Street W will close at 5:00 pm to enable crowd protection barricades to be placed along the 1.75 mile route. This year, northbound lanes of the Green Bridge going to Palmetto will remain open during the parade. The southbound lanes will close at 7PM, roughly one hour before parade start. Third Avenue West and Ninth Avenue West will remain open throughout the parade. This new route will greatly improve traffic flow into and out of the downtown area during and after the parade. April 25, 2026: Check out the Spring Local Author Book Fair.  Sarasota's storytellers are stepping out from behind their pages for the  semiannual Local Author Book Fair. From fiction to memoir, poetry to mystery, this is a chance to discover new books and the writers who live right here in our community. April 26, 2026: Get your motor running at the 22nd Annual "Building to a Cure" Benefit Classic Car Show featuring classic and vintage vehicles from pre-1950s - 1990s. Always a great show with cars from every era on display for close up viewing. Participants compete for 28 Trophies.
