April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - The DeSoto Society’s annual Service starts at 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Sunday on the Manatee River at the Mosaic Amphitheater in Rossi Waterfront Park, 452 3rd Ave W, Bradenton and it's open to the public.
April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - The Tabernacle Church hosts a service in Sarasota's Bayfront Park, Bay Island Park, off of downtown Sarasota area, next to Marina Jack. Bring a folding chair if you like. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - Pine Shores Presbyterian Church hosts its 61st Easter Sunday sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. at Siesta Key Beach near the pavilion. Bring a beach chair or blanket.
April 1, 2018: Easter Sunrise Service - The Church of the Palms hosts sunrise service near the Lido Beach Pavilion on Lido Key. It is recommended that you bring your own chair or a blanket as seating is very limited. All are welcome and dress is casual. 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
April 1, 2018: Enjoy Easter Sunday Brunch at Marie Selby Gardens with brunch provided by Michael's on the Bay with a carving station, omelets made to order and a dessert bar. The kids will enjoy an Easter egg hunt around the gardens, there will be live music and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Seatings from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. $30 - $80. April 3, 2018: The Bradenton Marauders will host “Meet the Marauders” with live music and games, including corn hole, the Marauders inflatable speed pitch, the prize wheel, and a photo booth where fans can pose for pictures with Marauders players. April 4 - June 1, 2018: Sarasota's Island Park has been the backdrop for Embracing Our Differences' colorful, larger-than-life canvases integrating powerful imagery and thought-provoking messages celebrating diversity. The scale and impact of this outdoor exhibition has continued to grow, attracting over two million visitors since its inception. April 6 - 7, 2018: The top college rowing teams in the southeast will take to the waters of Nathan Benderson Park for the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) FIRA Rowing Regatta. April 7, 2018: The State College of Florida Foundation is hosting a fun-filled evening under the spring sky featuring the SCF Big Band, The Venice Symphony and fabulous fireworks in honor of the 30th anniversary of Evening Under the Stars. Bring your friends, coolers and chairs, then sit back and relax while taking in the performances as you enjoy your picnic.The evening will be capped off with fireworks, but this year’s show promises to be especially extravagant in recognition of the 30th anniversary. April 12, 2018: The Jazz Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is sponsoring a free concert, battle of the big bands and picnic. SCF’s Big Band will perform music by Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr. and Horace Silver. Other participating jazz bands are from Bayshore, Braden River and Lakewood Ranch High Schools. Each band will play their three best numbers. Attendees should bring blankets, chairs and lunch for the outdoor concert featuring jazz from the SCF Big Band and local high school musicians. April 13 - 15, 2018: Want to go hunting for Shark tooth fossils? Want a simple and inexpensive way to do it? Then attend the 26th Annual Venice Sharks Tooth Festival on the Airport Festival Grounds in Venice, Florida on Airport Avenue. Admission is only $4, kids under 12 are free and there's even free parking at this, one of the spring's most popular fests held at the Venice Airport Festival grounds. April 13 - 22, 2018: It's the 20th Annual Sarasota Film Festival, one of the year's biggest events. It's 10 days of movies, celebrities and parties when Hollywood comes to Sarasota! Hollywood Stars on the slate for 2018 include actress Virginia Madsen and actor Steve Guttenberg, who will receive a career achievement award from the festival. The 2017 Film Festival included Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, and Aisha Tyler. Actors Stanley Tucci, and Rosanna Arquette, who took part in the "In Conversation With" series, also attended the 2017 festival. On the 2016 appearance agenda were actresses and actors: Sophia Loren, Olympia Dukakis, George Hamilton, Mathew Modine, Treat Williams and more. Making appearances in 2015 were actresses Cloris Leachman, Jane Seymour and Blythe Danner. In recent years: making an appearance at the 2013 Film Festival was actress Mariel Hemingway. The 2012 Feature actor and special guest was Frank Langella. 2011's special guest and honoree was the legendary Christopher Plummer, who received the "Cinema Master" Award. April 14, 2018: It's the DeSoto Heritage Festival Bottle Boat Regatta
taking place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the south west end of Palma Sola

April 14, 2018: It's the 4th Annual Children's Book Fair and Family Fun Day at the Bradenton Farmers’ Market. This free event includes a dozen children’s book authors signing their books, live readings of the authors’ books, hands-on activities about how food grows and vegetable gardening, planting summer vegetable seedlings to take home and grow, craft making, a scavenger hunt, and more. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market, located on Old Main Street, 400 12th St W, Bradenton, FL. April 14, 2018: It's the "Beach'N Food Truck Festival" featuring several live bands, a huge classic car show from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., arts and crafts vendors, a kid zone and Local bands will be performing live music to keep you jamming all throughout the day into the evening...lots of food trucks including some of the area's favorite food trucks! Refreshing adult beverages will be available – from wine, margaritas, rum runners and cold beer to soft drinks and water. Parking is available on Coquina Beach. April 14 - 22, 2018: It's the 2018 Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open Tennis Championship Tournament, with $100,000 in prize money, bringing the top tennis pros in the world to Sarasota. April 16, 2018: The Music Theatre Ensemble at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will present a showcase of theatre songs and scenes in “A Whole New World.” The scenes will explore songs from Broadway musicals based in places around the world and beyond. The family-friendly event will feature music, food for purchase, prizes, a tiny home to tour and information on how individuals can help the planet. April 26, 2018: The Music Department at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will conclude its 2017-18 season with a free outdoor concert featuring choral and instrumental selections. The evening’s theme will be “Step Right Up, It’s Carnival Time,” with each group providing entertaining and fun carnival music. SCF’s Symphonic Band, dubbed the “Circus Band,” will play a series of circus marches between performances by SCF’s Concert and Chamber Choirs, Latin Band, Big Band, and Guitar Ensemble. One of the marches, Karl King’s “Circus Days,” has a local connection as King was John Ringling’s band leader and is part of the Circus Ring of Fame in St. Armand’s Circle.
