June 1, 2025: A fan favorite returns to CoolToday Park! Summer Movie Nights will be held at the ballpark on most Sundays in June and July. The first movie night is Sunday June 1 at 5 p.m. with a showing of "Twisters." The movies will be shown on the scoreboard and will begin at 5 PM each night. So be sure to check out all the fun. June 1 - 22, 2025: The Sarasota Orchestra presents The Sarasota Music Festival, A Chamber Musician's Dream Come True. Festival audiences are entertained by a wide variety of symphonic artistry including: Thursday afternoon Artist Showcase concerts, Festival Friday chamber concerts, and Festival Saturday orchestra concerts. Three weeks of thrilling performances, coaching, and masterclasses. From Rising Stars, Special Recitals, and more, there's lots to take in. For three weeks you can enjoy the best up and coming young musicians from around the world along with chamber music, master classes and concerts. Nearly 500 fellows from top music programs at colleges and conservatories worldwide audition to participate in the Festival each year, but only 60 are accepted. Enjoy classical music at its finest. June 1 - June 29, 2025: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will present George Harrison: A Gardener’s Life, which examines the work of major artists through the lens of their connection to nature and will explore the deep and meaningful connection between musician George Harrison – best known as the lead guitarist of the legendary rock band The Beatles – and the pastime of gardening, which became his greatest passion. George’s love of gardening was an integral part of his identity. In an interview in Rolling Stone magazine in 1979, the renowned singer-songwriter described himself as “just a gardener.” His strong association with gardening was further illustrated in his 1980 autobiography, I Me Mine, dedicated “to gardeners everywhere.” A selection of special programs will be scheduled throughout the run of the exhibit. A highlight will be An Evening with Patti Smith Dedicated to George Harrison on February 12 at Selby Gardens' Downtown Sarasota campus featuring Selby Gardens' iconic Artist in Residence Patti Smith. June 2, 2025: The Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) is excited to continue its monthly open house events in 2025, inviting the community to connect with their local firefighters and learn about fire safety. June 6, 2025: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Dean Johanesen will fill the air with circus swing and American roots music and the event will benefit The Florida West Coast Avian Society. June, 2025: For 2025 the Friday Fest summer concert series held on the back lawn of The Van Wezel's Hall has been put on pause due to damage from Hurricane Milton. While many repairs have been made, there is still extensive work to be done, including repairs to the outside lighting and the back lawn. The Van Wezel Education and Community Engagement Department will host a Fall Family Festival in September. There will be games and activities the whole family can enjoy. June 24 - 25, 2025: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (June 4 - July 30, 2024) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (June 25 - July 30, 2025) at Brohard Beach (1400 S Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. No runs the week of July 4th. June 25, 2025: It's by invitation only, the Friendliest Catch Fishing Tournament for the physically and mentally challenged. This event is limited to clients with special needs who receive services from local non-profit agencies supported by Suncoast Charities for Children, the organizers of the annual Suncoast Summer fest. Break out your big hair and acid-washed denims and get ready to rock out with some of your favorite artists in the Planetarium. From the KING OF POP, Michael Jackson, to ROCK ROYALTY like Queen, you’ll be getting your satisfaction with The Rolling Stones and twisting and shouting with The Beatles! AND strap in for a double dose of pure genius: Pink Floyd. They’ll have nights grooving with the Motown Medley and the Starman himself, Laser Bowie! We’re staging a PUNK ROCK THROWDOWN: Green Day VERSUS The Offspring, backed by the titans of metal, Metallica! Plus, nights featuring the chart-dominator Taylor Swift and the uptown funk master Bruno Mars! The event takes place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from May 22 through August 30. There are various food and drink options available for purchase onsite with cash or card.
