June 1 - 20, 2019: Join the Florida Artist Group for "The Beauty of Small." This is an exhibit by 84 Florida artists who have achieved national or statewide recognition. On view will be paintings, photography, mixed media and sculptures in a wide variety of styles and techniques. The exhibit continues through June 20. June 2 - 3, 2018: It's the 7th Annual Suncoast Tarpon Shootout Tournament with 4 divisions: one pro, one amateur, one individual (kayak, fly, paddle board) and one for selected veterans. Prizes and entry fees vary from division to division. June 3, 2019: The Jazz Club of Sarasota has scheduled a five concert summer series at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret kicking off with Hot Club of SRQ with Keven Aland. The group presents Gypsy Jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Keven Aland has cultivated special musical connections with each guitarist in the Hot Club of SRQ. While Hot Club SRQ pays homage to the creators and masters of this sound, they have forged their own unique sound. Jazz Club members $35; non members $39. June 4 - 5, 2019: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through July, 30) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through July 31) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. For ages 1 - 17, participation ribbons are awarded along with a free ice pop each week. Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the beach run starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Free. June 6, 2019: It's the 2nd Annual Coastal Community Celebration to celebrate World Ocean's Day at the Florida Maritime Museum. An evening of family fun featuring the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch, Sarasota Estuary Program, Audubon Society and more. Explore vendors, including food vendor Gulley's, serving a Cortez favorite, MULLET! Local artist David Skaggs, of Dave's World Art, will be sharing his creative and sustainable themed sculptures. David's sculptures are made from palm fronds and recycled treasures washed ashore Siesta Key Beach. You'll also want to get your hands dirty through a multitude of hands on educational activities, including an oyster touch tank, beach erosion, commercial fishing gear, and more. June 6 - 9, 2019: It's the USRowing Youth National Championship. The championships, which serve as the premier youth rowing event in the United States, sees approximately 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews, representing some 150 teams from across the country – all vying for national titles in 18 boat classes. June 13 - 16, 2019: If you are near downtown Bradenton on Thursday (6/13) morning you might be confronted with a really, really large man pulling a 30,000-pound truck down Old Main Street. This is part of the Tachi Palace World’s Strongest Man competition. 25 athletes will compete for three days, according to the following schedule: 9 a.m. Thursday on Old Main Street, south of Manatee Avenue near the historic courthouse in downtown Bradenton. 9 a.m. Friday on Coquina Beach, Anna Maria Island. 9 a.m. Saturday at Manatee Public Beach, Anna Maria Island. The finale is set for 8 o’clock Sunday (6/16) morning at Manatee Public Beach on Anna Maria Island. The competitors include the reigning champion Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who stars as “The Mountain” on HBO’s Game of Thrones. He and the other competitors will participate in such events as dead-lifting 600-plus pounds, tossing 150-pound kettlebells, and pulling 30,000-pound monster trucks.

June 29, 2019: It's the 4th Annual Bob Rizi Memorial Golf Classic, an event of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival. June 29, 2019: Put on your knickers and your golf shirt and putt your way through downtown Venice at the 2nd annual Barstool Open.Teams of four will play putt-putt golf through 12 holes located in various businesses throughout Tampa, Venice and Miami Avenues. There will be 105 teams, totaling 420 available spots. Those who are interested in joining can sign up as doubles or as a team of four. If participants sign up with less than four, they will be placed in a randomly-made team of two doubles. It will take place during the "Boats by the Bay" Party in the Pits event. Following 2 rounds of earlier competition; one at 6:30 p.m. which is designated as "Club Wear," the other at 8:30 p.m. for Swimsuits, the crowning of Miss Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will take place at 10:30 p.m. The contest is open to the general public to participate in. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year.
