June 1 - 21, 2021: Canceled for 2021. The Sarasota Orchestra presents The Sarasota Music Festival. From Artist Showcases, Friday Festivals, Saturday Symphonies, Rising Stars, Special Recitals, and more, there's lots to take in. For three weeks you can enjoy the best up and coming young musicians from around the world along with chamber music, master classes and concerts. Enjoy classical music at its finest. June 1, 2021 -  August 8, 2021: An international art exhibit designed to proclaim inclusion, respect and kindness debuts at Sarasota-Bradenton’s Nathan Benderson Park. The annual, juried art exhibit is composed by a Sarasota-based arts and education non-profit, Embracing Our Differences (EOD). It consists of 50 billboard-sized works of art, each accompanied by an inspirational quote. The international exhibit uses the power of art and prose to promote diversity and inclusion. The 2021 exhibit brought 15,912 entries from 128 nations, and from 48 U.S. states. The winning quotes and art are showcased in Sarasota’s Bayfront Park every year, from January through March. Thanks to the generosity of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, the public will have another opportunity to see this exhibit. June 2, 2021: Check out the Parade of Champions which will honor the Venice High School Girls Soccer Team and their winning the Class 6A state championship in March. The parade steps off at 3 p.m. June 2 from the VHS bus loop. It will travel west on Milan Avenue across U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail), take a right on Nokomis Avenue to West Venice Avenue, turn right on Nassau Street and end at the Centennial Park west entrance. Parade lineup will start at 2:30 p.m. A program at the Centennial Park Gazebo will follow with speakers and music. Water will be provided and Serve Florida will serve free hot dogs. The VHS Boosters will be collecting donations to help cover the costs of athletes’ championship rings.The event will feature players, coaches and cheerleaders; the VHS ROTC Color Guard; “Old Betsy,” the City’s 1926 LaFrance fire engine; Police and Fire Rescue vehicles; and classic cars.

June 2 - 4, 2021: It's the Annual Suncoast Tarpon Shootout Tournament. Prizes and entry fees vary from division to division. Captain's meeting is June 2 at 6 p.m. at Conley Buick in Bradenton, FL. Awards and prizes at 4 p.m. June 4 at Spanish Point, Osprey, FL. The tournament’s goal is to raise $30,000 for 4 charities: Valor Service Dogs, Heroes on the Water, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and Operation Second Chance.

June 4, 2021: Canceled until further notice. Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6p.m  - 9 p.m. The Dr. Dave Band will fill the air with high energy classic rock, country & bluegrass music. Beer, wine and food available. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

June 5,  2021: It's NBP Rec Days! A great way to get on the water, family-style! Participants will have the opportunity to try stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoes, fishing and more. Fee is $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger  Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more). All must complete the waiver forms.  Fishing licenses are required for all participants 14 and older who choose to fish. NBP Rec Days! are held at the base of the finish tower on Regatta Island. Depending on events, however, they may move to the west shore, near the playground. June 6, 2021: The Queen of the Night to Bloom Tonight at Selby Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota campus. June 8, 2021: Canceled for 2021. It's the 3rd Annual Coastal Community Celebration to celebrate World Ocean's Day at the Florida Maritime Museum. An evening of family fun featuring the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch, Sarasota Estuary Program, Audubon Society and more. Explore vendors and get your hands dirty through a multitude of hands on educational activities, including an oyster touch tank, beach erosion, commercial fishing gear, and more. Wear blue to participate in this year's World Ocean's Day Theme, "Together We Can." June 8, 2020: Canceled for 2021. The 4th Annual World Oceans Day Festival will be a virtual event on the Emerson Point Preserve Facebook page hosted by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Department and Emerson Point Preserve. There will be a story time in front of an aquarium, a video of wildlife found while dip netting, a peak inside a microscope, and so much more. 11 a.m. - noon. June 8, 2020: Postponed to perhaps mid-September 2020.The 19th Annual Suncoast Film Festival offers a feature- length program of short films produced by Digital Cinema students at State College of Florida. The narrative, documentary, experimental, and industrial productions explore themes of identity and self, social and safety issues, travel and entrepreneurism. Student filmmakers include Jill Dolan, Alexander Ilardi, Katherine Tsirigotis, and Sarasota Film Festival “20 Hour Best Cinematography” winner Kim Galway. June 8 - 9, 2021: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through July 27) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through July 28) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. This one-mile fun run for kids is a summer favorite and a great opportunity for families to exercise together and have fun at the beach! Weekly registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with race time at 6:30 p.m. Kids receive a participation ribbon at each run. Complete four runs and earn a free custom t-shirt. (More at 941-861-5000. June 9, 2021: A fan favorite returns to CoolToday Park! Summer Movie Nights will be held at the ballpark on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in June, July & August.  The first movie night is Wednesday, June 9th so be sure to check out all the fun. June 9 - 14, 2021: It's the US Rowing SE Youth National Championships. The championship serves as the premier youth rowing event in the United States with approximately 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews, representing some 150 teams from across the country – all vying for national titles in 18 boat classes. June 11, 2021: It's the Free Music Friday Night Concert. Grab a mask and enjoy the music and fun in downtown's Centennial Park. Music group: North Jetty Allstars with Yacht Rock. Free and open to the public.7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chair or blanket for seating. COVID-19 safety plan is in place! They are asking family and friend groups to limit to a maximum of 6 people sitting together or less. Attendees are REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK during the entire concert. Everyone is asked to remain socially distant and follow CDC guidelines for safety.

June 12, 2021: A short road trip gets you to the Bluegrass Music Fest at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda. On the schedule: Harvest Moon, the Southwind Bluegrass Band, and Kindred Spirits. Music will be performed on the promenade and in the center court. Right on Charlotte Harbor with shops and dining. Free parking. Free admission. 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.  Fisherman's Village, 200 W. June 12, 2021: It's another Bay Music Live! Jah Movement returns to the Van Wezel’s lawn and terrace for an outdoor, socially-distanced performance. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with music at 7 p.m. Lawn spaces and tables will be pre-arranged for social distancing, and guests can enjoy fresh air and a stroll on the Mangrove Bayou Walkway. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 7 at 10 a.m. Lawn spaces on the grass accommodating up to 4 guests are $70. Guests reserving lawn spaces are encouraged to bring seating or blankets for their respective spaces if they do not want to sit directly on the grass. Spaces will be pre-arranged and marked by Van Wezel staff. Table seating for up to 4 guests is available for $100 per table. “Burgers on the Bay” crafted by Mattison’s (hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken-burgers and veggie-burgers) as well as pizza options will be available for purchase at the event. June 12 - 13, 2021: The 19th annual St. Armand's Craft Festival is held around circle park. You may view and purchase all kinds of artistic works from over 175 artisans with everything from paintings to jewelry, ceramics, pottery and much more. It's a fun event to stroll along through and look at all the uniquely creative ideas on display. St. Armand's Circle is just over the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota. It's free and there's lots of free parking too. It's from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.

June 20 - September 26, 2021: It's Skyway 20/21: A Contemporary Collaboration Coming to The Ringling. The exhibition is a  celebration of artistic practices in the Tampa Bay region and highlights the diversity of art being made in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties. Skyway 20/21 features the work of 49 artists and art collectives. Artists and art collectives with work on view at The Ringling from June 20 to Sept. 26 include: Carrie Boucher, Ya Levy La'ford, Kalup Linzy, Noelle Mason, OK! Transmit, Eric Ondina, Heather Rosenbach and Jake Troyli. The Ringling’s Ola Wlusek, Keith D. and Linda L. Monda Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Christopher Jones, Stanton B. and Nancy W. Kaplan Curator of Photography and Media Art collaborated to curate the exhibition. June 24, 2021: One of the events at the newly named Suncoast Summer Fest, formerly known as the Offshore Racing Festival, it's The “Waves & Wheels” Festival Kickoff Party & Fundraiser. Featuring an Open Cash Bar and Live Entertainment. $50 Per Person. All guests will receive complimentary food stations catered by Mattison's, full cash bar, 50/50 raffle, and free parking. Sarasota Offshore Boat Racing Florida

June 24 - July 4, 2021: One of the biggest Sarasota happenings of the year is the Suncoast Offshore Powerboat Racing Festival, now called the Suncoast Summer Fest with many of the same events and still benefiting Suncoast Charities for Children! The Festival is held annually. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year. Bikini contest downtown Sarasota Racing Fest

June 29: Originally a part of the Suncoast Summer fest's previous incarnation, the Offshore Grand Prix festival, this event has been on hiatus for several years, but we bet it will return at some point in the future as it has been an on/off event in the festival. The original "Miss Super Boat Grand Prix” Bikini Contest is now the Miss Powerboat P1 Swimwear Contest. It will take place during the "Boats by the Bay" Party in the Pits event. Following 2 rounds of earlier competition; one at 6:30 p.m. which is designated as "Club Wear," the other at 8:30 p.m. for Swimsuits, the crowning of Miss Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will take place at 10:30 p.m. The contest is open to the general public to participate in.
