June 1 - 21, 2020: Canceled. The Sarasota Orchestra presents The Sarasota Music Festival. From Artist Showcases, Friday Festivals, Saturday Symphonies, Rising Stars, Special Recitals, and more, there's lots to take in. For three weeks you can enjoy the best up and coming young musicians from around the world along with chamber music, master classes and concerts. Enjoy classical music at its finest. June 2 - 3, 2020: One of the Annual Summer Events in Sarasota: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through July 28) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through July 29) at Brohard Beach (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. Participation ribbons awarded each week. This year, kids have the option of running at one of our county beaches or at an off-site location of their choice. Participants who run 4 times will earn an event shirt. (Pre-registration is required to be eligible for the shirt.) For more details or to register, call 941-861 (PARK) 7275. Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the beach run starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. (no run on June 30 and July 1) The runs are a popular summer event combining exercise and fun. June 4, 2020: Canceled. It's the 3rd Annual Coastal Community Celebration to celebrate World Ocean's Day at the Florida Maritime Museum. An evening of family fun featuring the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch, Sarasota Estuary Program, Audubon Society and more. Explore vendors and get your hands dirty through a multitude of hands on educational activities, including an oyster touch tank, beach erosion, commercial fishing gear, and more. Wear blue to participate in this year's World Ocean's Day Theme, "Together We Can." June 5, 2020: Canceled. Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6p.m  - 9 p.m. The Dr. Dave Band will fill the air with high energy classic rock, country & bluegrass music. Beer, wine and food available. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75.

June 5 - 7, 2020: Postponed to next weekend due to weather. Check out Nik Wallenda's  "Daredevil Rally" Drive-In Thrill Show featuring world-class FMX freestyle jumpers, BMX motorcross bikers, steel globe acrobats and a human cannonball! There is scheduled to be 9 different "thrill acts" and Wallenda himself will walk a steel cable strung between two 65-foot tall towers plus doing stunts on a motorcylce. Attendance is limited to 325 cars for each of 11 shows. Cars will be parked no farther than 250 feet from the entertainment events and all events will be announced and narrated over loudspeakers and on 97.7 FM. Food trucks and more will be on hand and social distancing rules will be in force but visitors may bring lawn chairs as long as they stay within their space. Attendees are also encouraged to bring cans of food to suport All Faiths Food Bank. Each can will earn a $1 discount up to 5 cans. Also on June 11 - 14, June 18 - 21. 2020. Tickets start at $20. June 6, 2020: Canceled. Put on your knickers and your golf shirt and putt your way through downtown Venice at the 3rd annual Barstool Open.Teams of four will play putt-putt golf through 12 holes located in various businesses throughout Tampa, Venice and Miami Avenues. There will be 105 teams, totaling 420 available spots. Those who are interested in joining can sign up as doubles or as a team of four. If participants sign up with less than four, they will be placed in a randomly-made team of two doubles. This event will have a shotgun start where everyone will start simultaneously at their assigned location. $20 per person. 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Downtown Venice, FL. June 6 - 7, 2020: It's the Sunshine State Outdoor Volleyball Association Summer Tour Stop #4 on Siesta Key. Divisions: Men's Open; Men's AA; Men's A; Men's BB; Women's Open; Women's AA; Women's A; Women's BB; Coed 2's Open; Coed 2's AA; Coed 2's A; Coed 2's BB; Coed 4's A; Coed 4's B.  June 6 - 7, 2020: Not Being Held in 2020. It's the 7th Annual Suncoast Tarpon Shootout Tournament with 4 divisions: one pro, one amateur, one individual (kayak, fly, paddle board) and one for selected veterans. Prizes and entry fees vary from division to division. Captain's meeting is June 5 at 7 p.m. at Hooters in Sarasota.The tournament’s goal is to raise $30,000 for 4 charities: Valor Service Dogs, Heroes on the Water, All Children’s Hospital, and Operation Second Chance.  Click here for entry fees, prizes and more info.

June 8, 2020: The 4th Annual World Oceans Day Festival will be a virtual event on the Emerson Point Preserve Facebook page hosted by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Department and Emerson Point Preserve. There will be a story time in front of an aquarium, a video of wildlife found while dip netting, a peak inside a microscope, and so much more. 11 a.m. - noon. June 8, 2020: Postponed to perhaps mid-September 2020.The 19th Annual Suncoast Film Festival offers a feature- length program of short films produced by Digital Cinema students at State College of Florida. The narrative, documentary, experimental, and industrial productions explore themes of identity and self, social and safety issues, travel and entrepreneurism. Student filmmakers include Jill Dolan, Alexander Ilardi, Katherine Tsirigotis, and Sarasota Film Festival “20 Hour Best Cinematography” winner Kim Galway. June 11 - 14, 2020: Canceled. It's the USRowing Youth National Championship. The championships, which serve as the premier youth rowing event in the United States, sees approximately 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews, representing some 150 teams from across the country – all vying for national titles in 18 boat classes. June 12, 2020: Canceled. It's the Free Music Friday Night Concert with Soundwave. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the vibe. Free. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Centennial Park Gazebo, downtown Venice, FL.

June 13, 2019: No info yet for 2020. It's another in the series of Summer Movie Nights at Cool Today Park featuring Disney's The Little Mermaid. Concessions available. 6:30 p.m. $5, free for season ticket holders. Cool Today Park, 18800 W. Villages Parkway, North Port, FL. 941-413-5000.

June 13 - 14, 2020: Canceled. The 19th annual St. Armand's Craft Festival is held around circle park. You may view and purchase all kinds of artistic works from over 175 artisans with everything from paintings to jewelry, ceramics, pottery and much more. It's a fun event to stroll along through and look at all the uniquely creative ideas on display. St. Armand's Circle is just over the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota. It's free and there's lots of free parking too. It's from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.

The Ringling Museum presents their Summer Circus Spectacular showcasing some of the finest circus artists from around the world, performing acts to thrill audiences of all ages. Enjoy an evening on the bay front and some free live music as the 18th annual summer music fest kicks off summer with "Friday Fest" at the Van Wezel with live music by Big Night Out – a grooving six-piece dance band performing Latin, r&b and island dance music! A powerful horn section and Latin percussion add to the commanding vocals of Frank Alverez. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, take in the music along with the beautiful Sarasota sunset and enjoy food and beverage from food trucks and drink vendors. Outside food and drink is prohibited. The Festival is held annually. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year. Players will wear Star Wars themed jerseys which will be auctioned off for charity. Star Wars Character appearances. Post-Game Fireworks. Bikini contest downtown Sarasota Racing Fest

 June 29: Canceled for 2020. Will return June 25-27, 2021.The original "Miss Super Boat Grand Prix” Bikini Contest is now the Miss Powerboat P1 Swimwear Contest. It will take place during the "Boats by the Bay" Party in the Pits event. Following 2 rounds of earlier competition; one at 6:30 p.m. which is designated as "Club Wear," the other at 8:30 p.m. for Swimsuits, the crowning of Miss Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will take place at 10:30 p.m. The contest is open to the general public to participate in.
