Our December Sarasota Events Calendar includes the best list of Sarasota happenings and fun things to do around the sun coast.

December 1, 2021: TBA for 2022. It's NBP Rec Days! A great way to get on the water, family-style! Participants will have the opportunity to try stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoes, fishing and more. Fee is $10 per person. $5 per adult with accompanying child. Free for children ages 6 and younger  Family maximum: $35 (for households of five or more). All must complete the waiver forms.  Fishing licenses are required for all participants 14 and older who choose to fish. NBP Rec Days! are held at the base of the finish tower on Regatta Island. Depending on events, however, they may move to the west shore, near the playground. December 1, 2022: It's the Downtown Sarasota’s Christmas Tree annual tree lighting event will take place as it is the perfect backdrop for your holiday snapshot. 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Enjoy refreshments, music, and photos with Santa! The Christmas Tree will be lit at 7 p.m. where photos can be taken. Selby Five Points Park, located across the street from the Selby Public Library. 1 Central Avenue, Sarasota, FL.

December 1, 2021:  TBA for 2022 The 2021 Top Dog event, Miracle on State Street, is a one of a kind dog show where you can meet other dog lovers and enjoy your day while also showing your love and support. Bring your canine companion and enjoy dinner, cocktails and an unforgettable dog show. There will be categories like Best Kiss, Best Dressed, Top Dog. December 1 - 4, 2021: TBA for 2022. Entre Nous Club of Manatee presents its Holiday Festival of Trees online auction. They are feeling festive and think you'll enjoy this year's fundraiser! As the uncertainty of holding a function that can draw a crowd of over one thousand people in a weekend continues, the active members of Entre Nous Club have decided to keep with the holiday spirit and traditions, but move their annual fundraiser online. They invite you to visit their online auction to bid on a variety of beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and lots of fabulous gifts to put under the tree.

December 1 - 4, 2022: For your viewing pleasure, The Orchid Show 2022: "Capturing the Perfect Shot," will showcase the breathtaking camerawork of a group of devoted Selby Gardens volunteers and will celebrate the beauty and diversity of orchids by featuring the stunning scientific photography of Selby Garden's own rare orchid collection.. Their images spanning 15-plus years convey the magic and majesty of orchids, while also contributing significantly to botanical science. The diverse array of orchid imagery will be displayed within the galleries of the Museum of Botany & the Arts as well as in the Tropical Conservatory of our Downtown Sarasota campus. December 1 - 19, 2021: TBA for 2022.Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is excited to present their 13th Annual Gingerbread Festival taking place in the West District at University Town Center next to Old Navy. Join in celebrating another magical holiday season and marvel at a display of over 150 gingerbread houses crafted by local schools, youth groups, businesses and other non-profit organizations! December 2, 2022: Check out Jazz at Two with The Ron Kraemer Trio with “Detroit” Mike Hepner. Ron Kraemer brings his unique blend of jazz, blues and swing to Jazz at Two. A guitarist and bandleader, Kraemer has been fronting  his own group since 1995, back in Trenton, NJ. Enjoy a swingin’ afternoon of jazzy blues from this talented trio along with the special guest. Joining Kraemer are Joe Porter on bass, Michael Finley, drums and special guest, Detroit Mike Hepner on the B3 organ. Admission at the door $15 members; $20 guests. December 2, 2022: The Manatee Community Concert Band performs "Home for the Holidays" featuring your favorite holiday songs. Tickets are $15 each. December 2, 2021: TBA for 2022. The Annual Christmas Walk takes place in Historic Downtown Venice. Get into the spirit of the season by enjoying live entertainment, food and drinks, holiday décor and more. Oh, what fun! Enjoy extended hours at local shops, treats, live music and the twinkle of lights on decorated trees along Miami, Tampa and West Venice avenues. December 2, 2021: TBA for 2022. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is pleased to announce the return of one of Sarasota’s beloved holiday traditions! Holiday Splendor will be held with free admission to the museum and Ca’d’Zan mansion for all who bring a new, unwrapped toy. The evening helps support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots annual toy collection drive. The toys will benefit children in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Local schools will provide musical entertainment on the Bolger Campiello. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. All venues will be open for self-touring, including the Museum of Art, Ca' d'Zan and the Circus Museum. Admission to this event is free with one unwrapped toy per person. 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Also on 12/9 & 12/16. Regular admission, $15 Adult / $5 Children will apply without a toy donation. December 2, 2022: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m, a free concert and block party. K-Luv and the United Funk Foundation will fill the air with party, dance and funk music; the deejay will keep you dancing with today’s Top 100 hits. The street is lined with food vendors, beer trucks, and sponsor booths, as well as rides and activities for the kids. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, but please leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short leash. Free admission. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. December 2, 2021:TBA for 2022.  Celebrate the holiday season and join State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Bradenton Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Guitar Ensemble at the “Believe” concert. The Bradenton Symphony Orchestra will be playing holiday favorites including “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Here Comes Santa Claus” and a medley from “The Polar Express.” The combined Orchestra and Choir will cap off the evening with a rendition of “A Christmas Festival” and “When You Believe.” Masks are strongly encouraged on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual. 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $15; student and staff tickets are $5. December 2 - 5, 2021 & December 9, 2021 - January 2, 2022: The Ellenton Holiday Village offers fun for the whole family with midway rides and games, favorite fair food, circus thrill shows, holiday lights and displays, and visits with Santa Claus. December 3, 2022: It's the 4th Annual Braves Tomahawk Family Fun 5K event at the Spring Training Home of the Atlanta Braves, CoolToday Park. Enjoy a rollicking flat course along the roads near the ballpark, a behind the scenes path through the stadium grounds as you make your way to the field. You'll loop around the warning track & see your finish on the giant 40'x80' scoreboard! Great looking shirts and custom finishers medals for all! December 3, 2021: Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources is hosting another food truck rally at North Jetty Park! Come out for this free family friendly event. December 3, 2021: It's the 42nd Annual Holiday Night of Lights on St. Armand's Circle. Holiday Night of Lights” is St. Armand's official “kick off” to the holiday season. The event begins with a special performance at 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Join in with their annual Christmas Carol Sing-a-long beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by “Santa’s Arrival” in his spectacular sleigh and the tree lighting ceremony. Photos with Santa are available throughout the evening from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Enjoy holiday entertainment, special store promotions and gracious hospitality. December 3, 3021: You're invite to a Holiday Movie in the Park, "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." Join Sarasota County Parks & Rec as they kick off the holidays with a new family-friendly event. Family games will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. Bring your blankets, sleeping bags, family, and snacks and join in the fun.Free. December 3, 2022: The Venice Christmas Boat Parade starts at 6 p.m. (rain date is the next day) along the Intracoastal Waterway in Venice starting at the Albee Road Bridge in Nokomis and moving south along the waterway with turnaround before the Circus Bridge in Venice. Spectators line the north (at South Nokomis Beach) and south (at North Venice Beach) jetties and throughout the downtown and Venice waterfront areas to the judging area near the south Circus Bridge for a view of the brightly lit and colorfully decorated “Christmas Boats.” 6 p.m. Admission is free. December 3, 2021:  It's the Big Cat Best of Bash with fun for the whole family with live music, prizes, animal show, food drive, pony rides for kids, food trucks, concessions and adult beverages available. December 3, 2022: The 26th Annual Sarasota Holiday Parade takes place in downtown Sarasota on the first Saturday evening of December. With thousands participating and even more thousands viewing, the parade kicks off at 7 p.m. with decorated floats, live marching bands and the guest of honor "rounding" out the parade, Santa Claus. December 3, 2021: Known as Fresh Fridays, this monthly event in downtown Sarasota has a new theme each month. This month's theme is Shop, Stroll, Sing. Hear Christmas music throughout the evening and there will also be a karaoke part with special guests from Sarasota area arts organizations. There will also be complimentary sweet treats plus holiday swag for the 1st 500 guests and a special appearance of snow, all to make for a special evening. 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. Lemon Ave & State Street, downtown Sarasota, FL.

December 3 - 4, 2022: Come one, come all and check out The SunCoast Renaissance Festival, a recreation of a Renaissance or Medieval village that's filled with costumed actors, crafts and games to give you the illusion that you have stepped back in time. 100’s of performances plus craftspeople and more. December 3 - 4, 2021: The 10th Annual Bradenton Blues Fest will take place at LECOM Park with an outstanding line up of talent. In addition to amazing music, you can purchase local craft beer and wine, delicious food, and cool festival merchandise. The weekend wraps up with a tasty and soulful Bradenton Blues Brunch prepared by award-winning Chef Paul Mattison on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.  Various ticket prices: Friday = $20 - $30 Saturday = $55 - $150 Sunday, Blues Brunch at Mattison's Riverwalk Grille = $68. December 3 - 4, 2021: The Manatee County Agricultural Museum and Palmetto Historical Park invite you to kick off the Christmas season with Palmetto’s Christmas in the Park. Visit the decorated buildings, visit with Santa (by reservation only). Have your camera ready to take a picture with him. Choice #1: Start your time with a visit with Santa in the Chapel where kids young and old will be able to tell Santa their Christmas wishes. Parents, don’t forget your cameras! Feel free to bring a letter for Santa and either place it in the mailbox or hand it to him to read later. After your visit with Santa you will go on a guided tour of the Palmetto Historical Park’s decorated historic buildings and learn about the history of Palmetto. This tour is approximately 45 minutes. Choice #2: Visit with Santa in the Chapel where kids young and old will be able to tell Santa their Christmas wishes. Parents don’t forget your cameras! Feel free to bring a letter for Santa and either place it in the mailbox or hand it to him to read later. When you leave Santa you are encouraged to enjoy the Palmetto Historical Park grounds where there will be several activities including reindeer games and crafts.The Manatee County Agricultural Museum will also be open for a self-guided tour. December 3 - 5, 2021: Enjoy warm gulf breezes, fresh seafood and live musical performances at America’s #1 beach at the 4th annual Siesta Beach Seafood & Music Festival. Enjoy the best and freshest cooked foods by local restaurants and food purveyors. Foods are cooked on-site using such ingredients as grouper, mahi mahi, stone crabs, oysters, shrimp and soft-shell crabs. A variety of vegetarian and rice dishes are available as well as non-seafood items. December 3 - 5, 2021: This year Sarasota Christmas presents "Hugh Too, the Play!”  This Broadway style production is a funny, entertaining and meaningful stage production to help kick off your Christmas season. In this production, the family patriarch of the Everett family, Hugh, has retired and moved to Florida. Knowing that the family has grown apart, he invites all his children and their families to come spend Christmas in Florida as his gift to them for Christmas. What happens next will surprise you. December 4, 2021: It's the 24th Annual Jingle & Jog 5K Run/Walk in support of The Haven to benefit people of all ages with disabilities. December 4, 2021: Canceled for 2021. The 2021 Arthritis Foundation's Jingle Bell Run is on. This is the time to strut your stuff in your favorite holiday costume. Bring a team of friends, family and co-workers to run or walk. Get your jingle on and spread the Spirit of Yes: Yes to having fun and celebrating what you love. Yes to living life to the fullest. Yes to conquering arthritis for good. 100% of your registration fee and fundraising goes to a great cause. The 2021 event will be live and in person this year! Their Jingle Bell Run may have a different look due to COVID safety and health protocols, so check the event information page for the most updated details. December 4, 2021: Celebrate Christmas in Cortez and have a merry time at the maritime, the Florida Maritime Museum. This FREE festival is the Museum's Christmas gift to our community. FREE festivities will include carnival-style games,  holiday-themed crafts, and even sledding down a real snow slide! December 4, 2021: It's Christmas on Bridge Street and not only will Mr. Claus be visiting Bridge Street, but he’ll be bringing his whole sleigh! Come frolic and take pictures, courtesy of The Privateers from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. And bring the kids to Kids Zone from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. where they'll have face painting with holiday cheer and other children’s activities at Island Time on the corner of Bridge Street & Gulf Drive. Enjoy Dickens' Carolers from 5 p.m - 7 p.m. and spread some holiday cheer and sing along. The Dickens Carolers entertain audiences around the country with 50 songs from memory in 4 part harmony! Then enjoy watching the holiday boat parade between 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. as the parade will begin to pass the Bradenton City Pier. Bridge Street area, Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria Island, FL.

December 4, 2021: It's the North Port Poinsettia Parade.  The Poinsettia Parade will march south down Sumter Boulevard starting from Sylvania Avenue through the City Center Campus, ending at the Festival (a prime location to catch the parade). The theme this year is "Retro Rockin' Holidays." Floats adorned with poinsettias, decorated vehicles, and escorted by North Port Fire Rescue, Jolly Ole St. Nick will make a special appearance in the parade. The parade will end at the annual Poinsettia Festival. The Festival will include a tree lighting ceremony and will take place throughout the grounds of the City Center Campus, including on the Front Green and inside City Hall. This fun-filled holiday festival will also feature food vendors, entertainment, performances by local school choruses, attractions and much more. 4 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. City Center Campus 4970 City Hall Blvd, North Port, FL.

December 4, 2021: It's the Desoto Square Mall Annual Christmas Parade put on by the Sarasota Jeep Club. Be sure to deck out your Jeep with your favorite lights and decorations- the more the merrier! We'll meet on the northwest side of the old JC Penney store at Desoto Square Mall in Bradenton starting at 5:30 pm. Our convoy will pull out at 6:30 pm. Our route includes Bradenton, Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, St. Armands Circle and Siesta Key. Event Timeline: 5:30 pm: Meet at DeSoto Square Mall in Bradenton, 6:15 pm: Begin lining up in parking lot, 6:30 pm: Begin parade, 8:30 pm: meet at Daquiri Deck in Siesta Key Village afterwards. 

December 4, 2021: Help the Anna Maria Island Privateers celebrate Christmas and raise funds for the Drift In Scholarship. December 4, 2021: Bradenton Beach Marina will present the 3rd Annual Bradenton Beach Holiday Boat Parade. Boat owners are invited to show off their holiday spirit and their beautifully lit vessels in a Parade along the Intracoastal Waterway. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will last between 60 to 90 minutes.  Route: Vessels in the Parade will gather near the south end of Jewfish Key. The parade will head northwest along the Longboat Pass Bridge and then north up the Intracoastal Waterway. The parade will pass alongside the Bradenton Beach City Pier and end at the Bradenton Beach Marina.The parade can be viewed from: The Longboat Pass Bridge at the beginning of the Parade (6:00 PM to 6:30 PM). The Bradenton Beach City Pier as the Parade ends (6:30 PM to 7:00 PM). The Bradenton Beach City Pier will be the best viewing location. Free. Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria Island. 941-778-2288.

December 4, 2021: Celebrate the Holiday Season as The Manatee Community Concert Band performs their Annual Holiday Concert, "A winter Wonderland." The concert will be filled with your favorite holiday music. Donations accepted. Holiday Splendor will be held with free admission to the museum and Ca’d’Zan mansion for all who bring a new, unwrapped toy. The evening helps support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots annual toy collection drive. The toys will benefit children in Sarasota and Manatee counties. December 11, 2021: Run, Forrest, Run! Siesta Key Beach, the #1 Beach in the USA, plays host to the 45th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run. The 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is presented by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome for the one-mile or 5K fun runs and encouraged to participate in the holiday-themed costume contest. The one-mile fun run has been redesigned this year to include gathering supplies to create the ultimate cup of hot cocoa during the racecourse. Participants will earn a ribbon for the one-mile run or finisher-medal for the 5K run, which will be chip-timed. Custom awards will be distributed to first through sixth place finishers in all age categories. December 11, 2021: Enjoy the Holiday Boat Parade at Jiggs Landing Preserve, on the Ever's Reservoir and Braden River, at the public boat ramp. The colorful parade gets going at 7:00 p.m. as they parade past Jiggs Landing, head north to the Dam at River Landings. They pass "The Heights" on the reservoir and head up stream past Mote Ranch. The Bishop will provide telescopes so guests at The Bay Park can observe the waxing gibbous moon and planets Venus, Saturn and Jupiter, which will be lined up like a string of pearls along the ecliptic in the western sky. Venus, the closest of the three planets, is almost 60 million miles from Earth right now — more than five light minutes away! One of the largest and most cheerful 5K races in the area, The Jingle 5K is a race that runners and walkers participate in year after year. In 2019 they had over 1,900 registrations! December 25, 2021: The annual Pinecraft Christmas Parade usually draws over 1,000 spectators to this Sarasota Amish and Mennonite Community for the parade, traditionally held on Christmas afternoon, winding through the neighborhood streets.
